Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday

Good Morning everyone. The day before Easter is quiet and peaceful. The calm before the storm Which will be arriving tonight with rain, followed by wind and changing over to snow on Monday. How much depends on the storm track. Winters last hurrah. Not unusual for April here.

So I am going to do some cleanup of our POA’s walking path between the two roads of the subdivision and maybe blow the leaves off my yard that the strong winds of Thursday blew back on. Taking advantage of a nice day after two days of cold wind and the snow showers of Thursday.

BJ, you mentioned yesterday about it beiNg strange that we can’t buy gardening and non essential stuff under our Stay at Home order. This is one of the reasons our Governor cracked down. The linger people treat this as business as usual, the longer the virus will spread and the longer we will be under restrictions. Most stores have closed of the non essential areas in order to protect their employees and get people in and out of the stores and her latest executive order says stores over 50,000 sq. Feet must close off areas, that sell carpeting, furniture, paint, etc.

From employees at the Superstores. HOME DEPOT, LOWES, WALMART and COSTCO!!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! THIS IS THE POST THAT SHOULD BE SHARED THE MOST!!!

Just because we are open doesn't mean we are here for you to spend your time BROWSING around. We are designated as an ESSENTIAL SERVICE. We are not here for you because you have nothing else to do. We are not here for you because you feel like getting out of the house for awhile. We are in a STATE OF EMERGENCY. This is NOT A VACATION! Every customer who walks in our doors PUTS US AT RISK. We really don't want to be here, but we realize that we are needed. YOU don't see how many times a day we wash and sanitize our hands to try to keep ourselves safe. YOU don't see our upset co-workers in the break room struggling to keep their composure. YOU don't see our spouses who worry about us every minute we are at work and who are our strength when we get home. We have our jobs to do and we realize the IMPORTANCE OF OUR JOB TO YOU. The LEAST you can do is come in with a sense of purpose, get what you need, and get yourselves HOME.
Please share, maybe we can get the message out there.

Talking about flowers etc., I don’t know if Home Depot or Lowes has any in yet. This is definitely not planting time up here. But every year, they ship all the garden stuff to the stores and every year it’s too cold here and then the stores have to leave the plants on the mobile racks and kine them up and down the aisles in the dtore, wherever they can find room. Last year iy stayed cold in May and There were racks upon rack all over the kitchen cabinet display area and aisles closest to the garden area in the store  Made for some tight squeezes in some places, but whatcha gonna do. Here where I am, our last frost date is usually around Memorial Day. But people do like to have the flowers for Mothers Day.

Have my ham slices thawing out for tomorrows dinner and will bake a cake in a kittle while here, while I wait for it to warm up a bit more outside. Looking forward to hearing how you are going to spend your isolation Easter this year and what you are fixing to eat.

Beth, are you leaving to head north pretty soon? Wonder if it will be a quiet summer out there this yesr?

Have a nice day everyone.

Good Morning All, Thank you Sue for your response about shopping for unessentials! It was very timely as my DH had just said he had flowers in his car to plant ! He went to Lowes yesterday!! I was so mad and too upset to speak so I copied the part of your post about essential shopping only and emailed it to him. Of course his response was I was being over the top concerned. ACK ACK How do you reach someone who just doesn't/refuses to understand.
It is going to be a much cooler wet week ahead. It has been good having these days of sun and warmer weather to be able to walk outside.
I'm glad I found an online yoga class to watch this morning! Hope they do lots of deep breathing exercises. :)

Morning All, Sue, I am having a ham slice also. Will try to make a tiny bowl of potato salad , green beans and a slice of coconut cake from the freezer. I always have a hard time thinking of healthy lunches. Making bean soup in the crockpot today and will freeze in small portions for lunch. Sue, thanks for posting the important letter from employees. Have a safe holiday.

Sue, I also thank you for posting that letter from employees.

One of my neighbors here is a checker at one of the local grocery stores. I spoke to her husband yesterday - he came over to drop off a book - we conversed through my closed kitchen window (I will leave the book he brought on my front porch for at least a week).

He is very, very worried about his wife. As he said to me yesterday, "She is on the Front Lines".

For myself, I have not been away from my house since March 18 - a few days before California's governor issued the "stay at home" edict.

I am doing all of my shopping online - which isn't optimal, either - people in the supply chain are still risking exposure - but I think this is better than my going anywhere, particularly my going into the stores - both for me, and for the store employees.

Some days I wake up it seems totally unreal that this is really happening.

I've given up on my plans to drive up to Ohio in May via the Blue Ridge Parkway, and have been agonizing on where to stay. Most importantly, I have reservations at a COE campground in WV near Ohio for Memorial Day weekend, and it has been very very hard to find a replacement. They have not cancelled me yet, but I suspect that they will. I did find a place at Punderson SP in Ohio north of my son's house but it is only 20 amps and no generators allowed, so likely I will not be able to use AC. Who puts in only 20 amps??? I suspect this was done like 40 years ago since this is an old park.

I found a couple of really neat places to stay a week each on my drive north, both in Tennessee--Yarberry Campground in Lenoir City right on a large river (Tennessee River?) and Indian Mtn SP in Jellico near the KY border. Both are right off I-75 and are open for satellite. Yarberry is a bit expensive at $34 per night, but Indian Mtn is full hookup, new, quiet, and costs only $26 with the senior discount! I would have preferred much cheaper COE campgrounds, but not much choice these days.

I am going grocery shopping tomorrow at Walmart. It does bother me a bit, but this county so far has had only 6 cases of coronavirus, which is low, although I know there is more floating around than the statistics show. I will carry my bag full of Chlorox wipes and use them liberally. I have not done a major grocery shopping for three weeks, so I need staples. I also need to pick up some small bags of nuts to stuff in my son's birthday gift. I got him an electrician's canvas tool bag so will stuff the pockets with goodies.

We are having a warm sunny day but it's really windy. It started out cool but has warmed up to 83. We are supposed to have severe storms tomorrow.

I went fishing yesterday and caught two white perch and about a 14 inch bass. White perch usually don't live in small ponds but came in with one of the hurricanes.

Someone was talking about Easter candy on Facebook. I forgot about Easter candy. The only kind I like are the malted eggs. Maybe there will still be some the next time I go to the store.

Around here I don't think Lowe's would be happy if people stayed away. Their garden center is packed with flowers and plants. I am seeing more grocery stores make people line up to get in. I can't see any benefit of making everyone go in and out the same door. The entrance to the local grocery store is narrow so you have to wait for someone coming in to get out of the way so you can get out.

I need to vacuum but I would rather complain about being bored. lol

Sue, I really appreciated that letter when I first read it. Great idea to share it here. As to my travels north, I was planning to start the drive today but a UPS package I should have received a few days ago, has finally found it's way into Arizona and they say I'll get it Monday. So I'll leave Tuesday. UPS usually doesn't deliver here until late in the day. Friday it was 7:30 pm I saw the truck. If, by chance, they are earlier Monday, I might start out Monday afternoon. Weather wise, this will be better as some cold, nasty weather is going through the next few days.

I've only been to a store once in 3 or 4 weeks now ... And that was a pickup order. If all goes well, I won't set foot in another store until I arrive in Keystone and have no choice as I'll be working there.

For those wanting to order a pick up order for Walmart, I learned, here at least, they add another day somewhere around midnight. So when I did mine last week, I had my order in the app, then went on shortly after midnight and had my choice of any hour on the newly opened day.

today was go get a shower and do laundry day. I was able to meet up with the gal and standing far apart handed her 3 bags of yarn..some had never been used don't think she really knew that I didn't get the look of surprise when she saw all the yarn.. I was surprised at how much was there and I gathered it up... and I put the step covers on the steps tricky but was able to figure it out after struggling with one step... I think Shadow didn't get the new feel as I had to go out and lift him in... but I think it will happen...hopefully otherwise it was a total waste of money as I didn't need it...
Tomorrow is a special day may you all enjoy it...
