Palm Sundsy 2020

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Palm Sundsy 2020

Morning all. A very strange Palm Sunday it is too. Usually churches are full of worshippers on this day, and they sit empty. It was so different watching our priest celebrate mass virtually this morning, with an empty church.

Lazy day here yesterday. Other than repairing a picture frame, I ddn’t do anything. Even the dogs laid around and slept most of the day. It was a cloudy, light rain type of day, so made for just laying around. But we did take a short walk after supper. Sun is starting to break out this morning now.

O’Sharon, interesting isn’t it, to see what keeps flying off store shelves and what doesn’t. We have plenty of ketchup, mustard and BBQ sauce, but hardly any flour, sugar etc. had plenty of eggs last time I was there. I think people are baking more right now. Beer and wine aren't moving either. But alcohol lowers your bodies immunity and right now that’s the last thing people want. Soda pop is a bit popular though. I read that reason the stores, especially big chains like Walmart can’t keep stuff in stock, is that even if a given store submits an order for certain things, if an item is in extreme demand in another area, they will send it there instead. Too many stores to stock up.

Judy, I too think you are better off where you are. If you want to move north, you could go up where Cheryl is on the Blue Ridge. But I know you need internet access. Although Cheryl is posting, so maybe she has it. Looks like a nice campground. Beth, I think you will do fine beading north. Tbere’s risks like Annie said, but that can happen where you are too. Gas stations aren’t selling gas much these days so gas haulers aren’t having to drive as much. Tbe joke up here is how many people are getting 3 weeks to a gallon

Guess I wil get a move on here. Have a nice day all.

Good morning, Sue & all who follow,

Sue, one nice thing about virtual mass is I can attend mass at my parish in KS. :) But you're right, it is very odd watching it with an empty church.

Tough decisions for strange times for some of you. Just follow your gut. Which path gives you the most peace?

We're getting a wonderful, gentle rain here. Forecast is for rain most of the week. Perfect stay at home weather.

I placed my first 'pick-up' order at Walmart - will pick it up this afternoon. Curious to see how that goes. I don't want to go into any store - so this might be a good way to get what I need for the next few weeks, possibly months.

Hoping to get some work-work done today to wrap up a special project before retiring in 2 weeks. :D

Hope you each are safe & have what you need for the days ahead.
Take care,
Catherine

Catherine, I'm using pick up today also. I've done it several times for Walmart and Sam's clubs with great success. This will be my first time here as my local store doesn't offer it. So I'm driving a tad further. It'll be nice to give the car a ride (and me!).

This trip next week is bittersweet... It'll be the first time my trip up won't be part of the journey, so to speak. In other words, it won't include my love of travel. But I'm hoping just being on the road helps do that.

Sue, I get Ty out and try at least one long walk daily, but somehow feel I'm not getting him out enough. Funny, I have more time, but don't feel I'm using it wisely.

Update on my Walmart order. They only had about 1/3 of what I had ordered, but the process was easy and what I did get were all healthy items. I think God had that planned out all along.
Lots of stores here have senior hours so I might try that one morning later week to get some milk & eggs.
I really have all I need though & my DIL is always offering to pick up things for me. I'm just used to being so dang independent!

Stay safe on your trip north, Beth. I totally understand what you're saying though - our new normal has taken the joy out of many things we used to take for granted.

Take care,

Moved into new campground today. It is brand-new with grass barely growing, but the sites are very long, adequately wide, and PAVED, so no dust, which is always important. The good news, however, is that it rained today--first in several days, so that dampened stuff down.

I did five loads of laundry this afternoon after I arrived. This place has 6 washers and 6 dryers, and half of the washers are top loaders and half were front loaders. Normally, I prefer top loaders, but I had several rugs, which do better in front loaders. The laundry room was also spotlessly clean, and the owner has decorated it with old and new laundry product containers. I'll have to take my camera so I can take pictures tomorrow. (Yes, it is that cute!)

So, I am here for two weeks and then headed to Georgia and parts north, but slowly, as I don't want to get to Ohio and not have a place to stay.

I got tired of waiting for my son to come help me take the mower to the property North of here. I hooked up the trailer to the truck, loaded the mower and went and mowed. Now that I know I can do it I won't wait so long to mow again. There was one area that had some grown cover under a tree that burned my eyes every time I passed through it. I was kind of afraid it was poison ivy but I didn't break out anywhere. I have been exposed to poison ivy before and didn't have a reaction. I'm going to take some poison and spray it.

Went fishing after the mowing. That was about the extent of my day. At least I got something done.

You all have probably seen it but I saw on Facebook where it showed to use the dog poop bags on your hands when you pump gas. I haven't tried it but looks like they would be easier to put on than gloves.

Don't know what I'll do this coming week. Will have to find another project to keep me out of the refrigerator.

When I was at Q, I bought a face mask to use for my gourd art. I came across it today and realized it is a N95 mask. I gave it to a my friend Candiss here at the park who is older and has a lot of health issues. She has been so busy making cloth masks for the local police department, but I figured she needed one with more protection. I have another mask I can use when I go out and also the new one I got for the gourd art with filters on it.

We had several more aftershocks here this afternoon. The first one was a big sideways jolt, like something hit the house! I went next door to see if my neighbor felt it but she didn't and I didn't see anything at first on the earthquake app, so I thought I must have imagined it. Then I saw posts on our FB page about it. Later I found out it was a 3.5. There were several smaller ones, some that made the house creak a little, and then got another 3.5 a couple hours later. Been quiet since then tho..

They now are requiring everyone in CA to wear a mask if you leave your house. I went to WM tonight with my mask, and got a few more things I need/want. They only have one entrance open and are only letting in so many people at a time now. Our local WinCo is saying they are only letting in people with face masks. Most of the people I saw at WM also had masks on.

The rain is moving in tomorrow for 4 or 5 days so I covered up my golf cart, but not before I went for a ride and stopped at the pretty area I discovered last week with the flowers and waterfalls. It is part of the golf course but since that is shut down, I went and sat on the grass next to the waterfall for awhile. It is so beautiful and peaceful there! I needed the fresh air and peaceful surroundings!

I need to give myself a manicure and pedicure. Nails are getting long! When I got back from WM, the security gate guy stopped me to ask if I am available to give him a haircut. I had to turn him down and told him to get ahold of me when this is all over.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Catherine, the only things I couldn't get were the non-dairy yogurts I ordered. I'll survive. But I really like them and they help me with one med I take.

Tomorrow I have big plans. I set my alarm even. Now I have to hope I don't turn it off and go back to sleep. This park only sells propane one hour a week, on Monday mornings. It would be great to have my tank full and not have to stop on the road. Let's hope I remember that when the alarm goes off. My other task for tomorrow is to give Ty a bath. And I might defrost my freezer again. Then I can consolidate everything back into my rv fridge/freezer and turn off the one in the casita. But that could always go into Tuesday's chores. Oh, It's going to be hard to be working all day again.

Sheila, reminds me of that famous question "if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it still make a sound?"
