Window film project...

Postby BarbaraRose » Wed Mar 25, 2020 9:07 pm

The windows in my livingroom are now uncovered since I moved the loveseat and now I can see the neighbors RV and my utility box and water pipes which isn't particularily attractive. So I found some window film to put on that covers it up pretty well and still lets the light in, and matches my woodsy decor in the living room...

That looks better Barbie. I didn’t know they made anything like that. Good job!

It is the same type of window film I used on the two windows in my other house that looked like stained glass. They just stick on with soapy water (then squeegeed) and can easily be removed. Doesn't cost much either.

Very nice, Barbie!

I really like it - had no idea anything like that was available. A big improvement. Good job!

What an improvement! There was a sun shield similar product years ago on my living room window , when we moved in, to keep sun from the west out in afternoon. Eventually it peeled and I removed it, but it lasted decades. Where did you find the film?

They also make a sort of bubbly film. I have a "hall" window that looks into my bathroom when the door is open, so a few years ago, I covered half that double window with the bubbly film. Now when I travel, I can open the drape from the one side (which is still regular glass) and get light in through the bubbly stuff, but when I am at a rest area, or even in my campground, no one can see in during the day. Of course at night, I close the drapes entirely.

I also used the frosted film on the two side windows of my condo front door. It was a strange setup because my entrance was two stories high and you could look through those side glass windows completely up my stairs. With the film, I had much more privacy. Anyway, they make several kinds and they are very easy to put up and to remove, as Barbie said.

Look up "window film" on Amazon or WM. Home Depot sells some too. Some are just frosted with a design imprinted on them. Others have different colors, patterns and designs on them. The one I used that the old house was a very colorful stained glass look.
