Rainy Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Thursday

Postby Othersharon » Thu Mar 19, 2020 12:03 pm

Goodness, not sure where my morning went but here it is afternoon in the East. Having a bite to eat before I figure out what to get into after. It’s interesting that I can stay home for several days in a row and not think about it and now that I shouldn’t be out and about it’s bothering me. Maybe because in the cold weather I’d rather stay in and now that the weather’s getting nicer I want to out and about. Thanks Beth for the link to campground closures. Rascal and I went for a walk yesterday at the project, it’s an area where we can get rid of leaves and other yard debris that’s mulch able. Anyway, there’s also a soccers filed there and all of a sudden I saw this beautiful red fox running across the field and into the tree line. Of course I didn’t grab my phone to try and video it. The only thing I can figure was that the family I saw walking must have flushed him out. I’m still in awe. I’ve seen deer in town but never a fox. I stopped at the store around the corner from me to pick up a couple of things I was out of and was pleasantly surprised at how well stocked they were. It’s a local store and not a chain. I made sure to complement them on how hard they are working to provide goods for us.
So that’s about it for me! Hoping those of you traveling are safe as well as everyone else. Have a good day.

Afternoon Sharon and all that follow~~~

I'm hunkered down at a KOA on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a couple of weeks. Other than the owners and one couple of work campers, there are only 3 of us here for any length of time. A few one nighters stopping on their way north except for one Canadian couple that is actually heading to Clearwater, FL!

I'll be back in IL mid-April but have decided against Camp Dad's Driveway so I don't have to have permission on when it's OK to take a shower and be doesn't have to scrutinize all my mail and recycling. So aggravating! I'll probably end up saving $$$ since at his house its eat out all the time too. He unplugged his electric stove and oven years ago. At least at a CG I'll have full use of the trailer instead of just sleeping in it.

That's it from me. Stay healthy ladies!

Rain headed this way too, tonight, then transitioning tod snow tomorrow, but doesn't sound like it's going to amount to much. Maybe the rain will help clear the biking/hiking trail of the last vestiges of snow and ice, then people can get out and walk or bike for awhile.

Just got an email newsletter from our DNR regarding cancellations of events, closures of offices to the public etc among other things. Our State Parks will remain open. Headquarters buildings and campground contact stations will be off limits to the public. Park Visitor Centers are closed and any park events are cancelled. The campgrounds will be open, but will be semi modern, meaning no toilet shower buildings, only vault toilets and they are waiving the Recreation Passport entry fees for now. Reservations can be made online and although, there is a public phone outside the contact stations to use if you don’t have a reservation, use may be limited. Camping fees still apply.

O’Sharon, I hear ya on the stay home when you want but now that we have to, don’t want to thing. Nothing has been said about not going outside or getting in the car and going for a drive. We can self distance outdoors and get fresh air. I really miss my daily. Dog walks since my mishap two weeks ago, but I’m hoping to be able to my start resuming them next week, slow but sure.

Otherwise nothing going on here. Just trips to Chiropractor and store, resting with the heating pad and doing few things around the house now and then. Decided chili sounded good tonight so will get on that pretty soon. Got my census form today, so will work in that while I’m sitting over the weekend.

Since I'll be at my casita for three weeks until I zip to SD, I'm going to head to the store for some fresh produce and fruits, frozen veggies, etc tomorrow then plan to stay in place this 3 weeks. I'll go north with no stops except gas stations (overnighting in parking lots, etc). At least that's my plans now.

I'm happy to be where I can be outside and Ty and I can walk in the desert (rattle snakes are showing up!) And I have a beautiful view.

Oh, just went and turned the casita fridge on... I think I'll treat myself to ice cream since I have the space. Might as well treat myself somehow

Still at St. Lucie, but getting bored fast. Did you read about these three British ladies in their 70s who have been friends for 40+ years who have decided to self-isolate themselves together for 12 weeks? They have stocked their three homes up with wine and other necessities and will spend one week in each home, rotating among them. Sounds like a lot of fun!!

I had been planning on going out sightseeing a lot, so I got a rental car, but have obviously hardly used it. Once I got it, I figured maybe I would need it, so I kept it. Luckily it was not too expensive. Tomorrow morning I will run out to pick up a package from an Amazon locker and then head to my cousin's house to pick up my mail package from his driveway. I won't go in because his wife has Lupus and her treatment is causing her to have no immune system, so I won't even have contact with him. Just pick up package and go.

All the Canadians have left John Prince Campground near here. It is a county park and so far is staying open, but lady said to call back in a week to see how things are. They have tons of spaces from the vacating Canadians who decided to race for home before they had border problems. Otherwise, I will try a commercial campground in northern Florida and then into Georgia.

Can't think of anything I need. I even have a very good supply of wine, thanks to my Napa son!

Los Angeles County has just ordered all non-essential businesses to close and all residents to self-isolate at home. I expect all other counties out here to follow suit soon. The results they are getting back from the tests that have been done so far have been alarming, so the governor is pushing for the state to really take this seriously.

I found a Neighborhood Walmart south of me that has quite a bit of food yet, meat, bread, frozen food, etc. so I bought more stuff to get me by for a few weeks here. Not crowded either! Yay!

They just announced that the governor here will be making a major announcement shortly here. Stay tuned!!

...he just ordered a state-wide order for all residents to stay at home.

Guess I am done with work for awhile now!

I knew before going to Walmart that there would be a lot of empty shelves but one is not prepared for what you find... with so much gone you wonder where stuff is suppose to be just in case you missed it... I wanted to get distilled water still have perhaps a cup and have checked the batteries for this month but when it gets that low like to get some to have on hand didn't even find the water isle  not soup no bread no chocolate milk (was picking up for a friend) no tp surprise surprise!!!  did find some flushables but not a brand I like got them though... lots of not there stuff.... but had the books I usually get :) no eggs either... tuna had to get the packets... like them but wanted the cans this time..my dd called to tell me that the hospital was limiting visiting to two visitors I think at a time.. not an unexpected out come... and might change between now and then... I told dd that I think if I was them I would say due to the virus we don't want any visitors I even went to far as to say perhaps their dd shouldn't go in she won't be able to go into the room just for them to explain to her that to protect her, her brother and her mommy she will have to wait till they come home then she can hold him ect...I think it would be really hard to go to the hospital and not be able to hold him if I was a 6 year old... so at this time I think I will linger longer in Q perhaps till the middle of May depending upon how my spot is melting if I can get into it in May then will leave in April if I can't will wait a bit... this has been a heavy snow winter and then I have to wait till the mud dries on the site as well as the road going up to the site... so lots of variables to consider that and where I hope to stop for awhile have to assume it's open as it's also a park that has year round residents but that doesn't mean that they will let the over nighter's ect stay. something I will look into before I leave...
you all be safe I need to stop wasting time and get something accomplished

Sheila, you are probably better off staying put for awhile.

Out here, the hospitals are not letting any visitors in to see patients at all. One couple who lives in my park, the guy had a stroke two weeks ago and is in pretty bad shape. His wife is no longer allowed to go in to see him. Same with nursing homes. No visitors allowed and the residents must stay in their rooms and are getting their food brought to them.

I was informed that we will be getting 14 days paid from our owner at work which is nice. I also applied for unemployment insurance for after that. We are self-isolated here for 4 weeks in CA. Can only go out for essential items, food, meds, etc. This all seems so surreal!

I am really tired tonight with all this happening. The stress is exhausting! Heading to bed early. We are supposed to have our community yard sale tomorrow morning. There are usually maps at the clubhouse of the homes having a sale but the clubhouse is closed so not sure how we are supposed to know who is having a sale. I guess just drive around and try to find them. Kind of like a scavenger hunt!
