Monday, March 9th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, March 9th

Good afternoon from outside Savannah. Well, the 20 year old Roadtrek went into the Dodge Dealer repair shop today for a major repair. I need a new rear end and I’ve been waiting a week for the parts. It was making whining noises and I stopped driving it so I wouldn’t break down on the interstate. Had a nice long gtg with Cheryl, but she has moved on up the road and I’m checked into LaQuinta for the duration. Hopefully it will be good to go tomorrow. Enjoy today and wash your
hands! Peggy

My goodness Peggy, hope that doesn’t break the bank. Knew you were sightseeing with Cheryl but didn’t realize you had issues with the Trek.

I’m happy to report after seeing my chiropractor this morning and explainI what happened, that I am now back in one piece. We didn’t even need ex-rays as from my describing how I was moving around and where did feel a bit out of sorts, she was able to tell by feeling my hip etc. that there were no fractures or anything broken, but I had 3 vertebrate and my pelvis out of place. All back where they belong now. The bump in my leg below the hip is just some swelling from the fall. It will go away in it’s own. Just put heat on it for about 20 minutes around 4 times a day. Will go back for a follow up on Thursday again. I had a feeling that was about what the outcome as going to be. Especially when I spent 45 minutes at the grocery store beforehand with no big issues. Course now I’m sore from getting everything back in line

So that’s my excitement for today. Going to take the fur kids for a leisurely walk before the rains set in. They are going stir crazy from two days with no walk. Have a nice day all.

Can't seem to pry myself up off the couch this morning.

Too much "fun stuff" (yes, I have a very warped idea of what is "fun") to watch on the internet.

Here is a live feed of the tanking stock market (down 2,000 points more than once this morning - causing the "circuit breakers" to kick in early in the session, at this writing about 1 1/2 hours remaining to the closing bell):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fjg5lYqvzUs

Here is a constantly-updating "map" of the 'not-a-pandemic' spreading coronavirus (have posted this link before, click only if you dare). Have also been maintaining a "fun" Excel spreadsheet on this data for about the last six weeks (this website is legit, maintained by Johns Hopkins University):

https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6

I was scheduled for a month-long art exhibit/show of my hand-made jewelry (I was invited to exhibit my jewelry) at a local art gallery for the month of June, with a (generally crowded, a lot of people crammed into a small space) opening wine-and-hors d'oeuvres reception scheduled for June 1.

Cancelled this just now, due to coronavirus uncertanties. I am well over the recommendation of "if you are over 60, avoid crowds and stay home" admonishment. Think I'll do just that.

All in all a very "fun" day. . . :( :( :(

Good afternoon now. Took my neighbor for his cataract surgery this morning and I came home until they called me to pick him up. My good deed for today LOL

House cleaning on my agenda today along with laundry so hopefully I will get to work a little outside as the predicted better weather is coming Wed and Thurs.

I am kind of tired of the news now. More corona virus than politics which I have decided really isnt a good replacement. As for the stock market not a darn thing I can do about it so I am not even looking at my portfolio. I know, I could end up dead AND poor LOL Hopefully neither for a while anyway.

I am going up to Salem this weekend to visit again with Laura and we are going to the EXPO in Portland to the big RV show. Should be fun. Kind of a quick trip but will still be fun.
Emma is going to stay the weekend with the neighbor whose dog I watch when they go away. The dogs are great together and Emma loves Rich and Sandy. I have a little angst about this but they will take good care of her. I have never left her in 3 years since she arrived (10 weeks old) as usually I take her with me either in the car or the RV but Saturday could be a long day........or not, but I dont want to risk it. I am sure she would be fine at Lauras but this is probably a good thing just in case something ever happens And this way we dont have to hurry back.

Karen, when ever I have left any of my dogs with trusted people, in trusted situations, I have always sensed that they had fun exploring and going on a vacation. It is like watching them wag their tail as they visit with staff at the vets office. This is true for most all well adjusted, socialized and emotionally confident dogs. Then there is Audrey who would take any situation where she is appreciated and feed on a regular basis and probably not look back. She makes me appreciate the present and that she accepts me good company.

I am pretty well stocked up with food, but I just got an email from the CLL Society saying that CLL patients, even those who have had successful treatment, should try to stay away from other people. And considering I also have my age as a consideration, I am going to try to hang around my RV for a week or so.

I made a quick trip late yesterday afternoon to visit my uncle in hospice and say hello to my aunt--125 mile drive partly in the dark. She and the caregiver had left the hospice facility by the time i got there, so only spent a few minutes. He was asleep and looking very frail. Drove the 20 miles to the memory care facility, parked my motorhome in the back, and went in to say goodnight to aunt. That also was brief as it was 10:30 pm and she was getting ready for bed. She is doing OK, but was even more confused than she had been. I think it was because she was tired and it was very late for her. So I spent the night in the motorhome, taking a hot shower and reading before bed. It is such a luxury to be self-contained!!

I went to the grocery store this morning to get her several boxes of kleenex and some bread for myself, then spent a half hour with her before the caregiver took her back to hospice. At that point, I decided to head back east to Lake Okeechobee since I had picked out a cremation company and they told me I could do everyone via phone and computer. So, now that all of my duties are taken care of, I am going to relax here and not go back. For one thing, my kids got into me for visiting a nursing home, but I was careful and at least people in memory care are not sick. Plus, with the winter crowds there is just no place for me to stay there, and I am just worn out anyway.

Tomorrow is laundry and might wash the motorhome as they allow that here!! Then off on Wednesday to St Lucie Lock and Dam for two weeks.

As of right now I have no intentions to change plans for this summer. But I'm also aware of the dangers being in a place with hundreds/thousands of tourists. So I'll be watching what's happening carefully. Having asthma puts me at a higher risk level should I contract anything.

On another note, wouldn't you know that when the mobile repair service got here today, we put the fuse back in and everything worked perfectly. So, again, nothing was done. But these guys are great and as in the fall when I called them out for something else minor, no charge. I'm mostly ready to leave... Planning to leave Wed as I actually have reservations for 4 nights. But they are talking rain ALL day Wed so I might decide to go tomorrow and boondock a night closer to my destination. Jello :) but it's not far either way so decisions decisions lol

Good news is that I did finally get my taxes done and submitted a couple days ago.

Peggy , good luck with your repair work!

Getting on here late today.

I slept in and didn't do a lot today. I did have a couple more people come by to look at my washer/dryer and one couple decided to buy it. We still have to coordinate a time for them to pick it up. Then I can order a cabinet to put in it's place.

My golf cart won't take a charge again so I have a call in to the cart guy to come look at it. I even tried plugging it into my neighbor's place to see if that would work. Nothing. The storm is moving in tonight so I covered it up and left it in her cart spot for now, (she doesn't have a golf cart). I need to get it running before next week so I can decorate it and use it for the poker run and parade on St Patty's day.

I did organize my gourd supplies. I have been saving photos of gourd art on my laptop that I have found on line, and started going thru those tonight to figure out the different techniques, designs and materials that were used on each one. All are so creative and unique and gave me lots of new ideas! I will start with practice pieces this week.

We were told at work about a month ago that we are getting a new computer system and will each be sent to the Palm Springs Great Clips for training. Well one guy was sent for that a few weeks ago. I kind of forgot about it and was never told when I was to go for the training. No one else was sent either. Just found out tonight that they switched over to the new system today. So only one of us besides the manager knows how to use the new system. That should make for an interesting week! I guess I will be learning on the fly tomorrow. Being that it will be raining all day, it will be a slow day so that will make it easier to learn without being under pressure.

It just started raining, I can hear it on the roof. Heavy rain tomorrow and then lighter rain thru the rest of the week. I imagine golf will be cancelled in the morning.

The big Coachella Music Festival may be postponed until next October due to the Corona Virus. I heard a bit of good news tonight...that the number of new cases in China is decreasing as well as the deaths there, altho we have 4 cases here now in the valley.

Good night! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

That was a good deed Karen! It is hard to find transportation for things like that. My cataract surgery is scheduled for April 2 and a friend who is also a Reiki Master is going to do a session before and after. She will have me so relaxed I may not know if they give me anything else! Plus having Reiki before and after surgery helps you heal faster. I know how you feel about leaving Emma, when I had my Charley dog the first time I left him I went on a week long vacation to California and left him home with my husband and our other dogs. He wouldn't leave the door for 3 days and then finally would go sleep in the room with my husband at night. On the day I was coming home he went to the door and didn't leave until I came in that evening. But it sounds like your little one is happy with your neighbors so sounds like she will do ok. Charley never played with other dogs and if we were out for a walk, wouldn't even acknowledge another dog. Enjoy the RV show!
