Monday, Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, Monday

Good morning! Finally a sunny day but so cold yet. But I suppose it could be worse! At least no snow. For now anyway! Not much else happening here. I’m waiting for the “bugman” today or tomorrow. I wrote appointment time down on a piece of paper but now can’t find it so I’ll just wait. Or look up their number and call! Easy solution, I suppose! Not planning on going anywhere so no big thing. I do need to get my taxes over to Bellefonte one day this week. I think I have everything together. One thing off my desk! Sue, did you get to make your trip this week end? Judy, hope everything comes together for your uncle. And you take time for you. Lyn, hope everything works out with your daughter. Okay, enough rambling from me. Hope you all have a great day and travel safe if you are on the road.

I took yesterday off and went to Ding Darling National Wildlife reserve on Sanibel Island for an enjoyable day. Mostly just drove around and watched wading birds. Then had a blizzard at Dairy Queen and drove home in time to dump my tanks at the dump station. Today I am staying home and finishing my papers for this week.

My uncle's dementia has increased, and he is a lot shakier and weaker, so has been in a wheelchair, but we have to get him a different kind. The memory care facility said they could take care of them, but I am still concerned about that, but we will see how the next week goes. PT is supposed to come today or tomorrow to get him walking better and measure him for a wheelchair. And I will stop there tomorrow on my way to Myakka SP, so will see how things go. Anyway, I got a good night's sleep last night, although they called me very early to tell me he had tried to get out of bed and slumped down, but was not hurt. It is very nerve-wracking when phone rings, these days, especially when you are asleep.

Tomorrow I take the rental car back and then move about 100 miles north to Myakka SP where I will be for three days. Then three days in my cousin's driveway and on to Midway on Monday.

I got back from Florida last night. I drove all the way home, 610 miles. I'm like a barn sour horse headed for the barn. It rained or misted on me most of the way. The only big hold up was the construction before you get to Lafayette on I-10. We were doing about 2 mph if we weren't stopped. The only wreck I saw was a travel trailer that must have come unhitched and headed for the woods. Didn't see a vehicle involved. They were picking up the mess. I only unloaded the food last night. It rained over 2 inches while I was gone and my yard is muddy. I was afraid to try to put the motorhome in the rvport so I could turn the electric on.

I went to a talk on instant pots so might be inspired to cook with mine. Will have to think of something to try.

Judy, those care places are a new circus everyday. They are suppose to call you for anything that happens. Usually they call about nothing and don't when something you would like to have known about.

I was so aggravated with my tablet on the trip. It started telling me it didn't have a sim card. I have already had it do that and replaced the sim card. I am taking it to the main store in Lafayette instead of the local one. They couldn't even look up my account until I went home to get a bill.

Better get back to washing. The utility room is full.

Was very busy at work today! After I got off, I stopped at a cafe in the same complex that I haven't been to before. Had a chicken filet sandwich. Left there and stopped at Michael's to look around. All of a sudden, I started getting cramps. I left my cart, got in my car and headed home when all hell broke loose, so to speak. Obviously, something I ate didn't sit well with me. It is a Greek style cafe and the chicken was really spicy, so maybe whatever they used on that didn't agree with me. I keep burping constantly too.

I feel a nap coming on now so may just do that for an hour or so.

Another gorgeous day. Low 80's, sunny and light breeze. No complaints here! :D

Martha, like when my aunt had a large corn removed from her foot and the caregiver brought her back, he dropped off a tube of non-prescription antibiotic cream and told them the doctor said to change the band-aid once a day and put on the ointment. Except, they did not bother telling him or me that they could not "treat her" without an order from the doctor in writing. So, they have not been changing the band-aid for almost a week, and my aunt has been using toilet tissue to cover it inside her shoe because it sometimes bleeds a little. Better an infection than telling someone they can't put on a band-aid with ointment, right?? I asked if they needed doctor's orders for hand cream since it also was non-prescription.

And instead of giving him Ensure between meals as I had asked, they decided it might spoil his appetite, so they are giving it to him with his meals!! And one caregiver refused to allow the home health care nurse to give him any Ensure since there was, what else, no doctor's orders for Ensure!!!! I had bought a bunch of it and left it there on Friday. They even wrote his name on each bottle when they accepted it.

So tomorrow, I have to get doctor's orders for band-aids and antibiotic ointment and to specify that he get a bottle of ensure every day at 2 pm and just before bed.

But they DID call me this morning to tell me that he had tried to get out of bed in the middle of the night and slid onto the floor sitting up and was not injured.

JudyBJ, Its so sad that we can't trust care-takers to truly provide care for loved ones. The incidents you mentioned are crazy! When Mom had to be go to one after a hospital stay, the head of the place actually sat & had Mom drink cup after cup of coffee because she seemed 'agitated' - she was really experiencing a stroke! Thankfully my sister got there, called an ambulance & got her to a hospital.

Barb, Glad you got home in time... ;)

I ended up spending my weekend working on my laptop & doing my taxes. I have an older macbook & had to upgrade the operating system so I could install TurboTax. Kept having problems upgrading - finally contacted Apple at 4 AM Sunday morning for help. I really expected them to tell me how much it would cost for assistance, but nope, they were great! - got things straightened out & I was able to complete the upgrade. I was amazed! This thing is 9 years old & still going strong. I'll defintely stay with macs from now on.

Took Sadie to a lovely regional park Sunday afternoon. Problem was goose poop. Sadie loves it! And it was everywhere! Anyone know how to break a dog from eating stuff like this? Guess we'll just walk the neighborhood. :(

Didn't have the baby today. I had forgotten how easy it is to work without tending to an infant. Looking forward to trying part-time in March.

Take care out there...
