A February Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A February Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Feb 10, 2020 8:22 am

Good Morning on his 10th day of February. Coffee’s on. Already had breakfast and Ann sitting here browsing the web to see what’s new, before I start my day. We have close to 6 inches of new snow out there this morning, so that will be the first item of business. Think I remember how to run the blower  If it wasn’t for about 3 system snows this year, we would be lucky to have much snow on the ground out there, the way this Winter has been going. It’s very still out, all the tree limbs and branches have white mantels and the spruce are draped in white.

Barbie, why does the manager put up with those two. They should be shown the door. Beth, is Linda planning on coming back to the store this year?Shelia, hope you and your generator finally get on the same track, so you will have your power when you need it and it will hum along nicely.

Looks like this is going to be a glue some more tiles down day, once I get the snow cleaned up. But gotta get my fresh air fix first. So guess I should move along here before my morning is gone. Have a nice day everyone, stay safe no matter where you are.

Mornin' Sue & all that follow~~~

Was nice to meet Irmi and her DH Steve in Ocala. We went to a sculpture park one day and then I got the grand tour of the area the next. Oh, and a lunch with way to much food!

Up in the Suwannee River area again for two weeks. Hope to meet up with Birdie, Martha & Carolyn again but they may be busy with their rally. Unfortunately the day I arrive at my next stop, a whopping 1/2 hour away, they will be leaving.

Other than that, I have met up with a nice Grand Design couple that I met in Cheyenne. The infamous hail storm CG. They lucked out and left the day before. First thing they asked was if I brought storms with me.

That's about it. Have a good day everyone and stay safe and warm wherever you are.

Been heavily stressed last few days, so here is story. Uncle was taken to hospital from memory care facility Friday because he collapsed. Was conscious then, but slowly losing consciousness and was in critical care for last three days. Yesterday, he did not respond to us. Had serious conversations with doctor about his condition--atrial fibrillation, heart failure, internal bleeding so needed 3 units of blood, kidney function barely OK, big problems maintaining body temp (was 90-92), and of course severe dementia. I am one of two financial POAs and also medical POA, so based on his medical directive, told doctor do not resuscitate. They moved him to a private room yesterday and also did an MRI because they suspect a brain stem stroke. I think they are really just preparing for him to die. He is absolutely white and skin and bones, and I can't imagine him recovering or wanting to live like that.

All this is made much worse because his wife has severe short term memory but less overall dementia and has almost never been separated from him in 67 years of marriage, so we are dealing with her as well. She gets very panicked every time she hears something is wrong with him, although she knows he is very, very sick. We have tried not to upset her and been as vague as we possibly can be.

I drove 175 miles round trip yesterday to see him and take her to visit him. Obviously, I am exhausted and trying to get rental car. There is very little chance of getting campground nearer as this is busy season, although I might try for one of the big, really expensive ones next Tuesday the 18th because I have to leave here.

I also have papers to grade and three weeks of laundry so rinsing stuff in bathroom sink. At least caregiver will take aunt to podiatrist and maybe hospital today and maybe tomorrow. Cannot get car until Wednesday, but office said they would call me if one came in tomorrow. None available today or tomorrow. Nearest other office is 30 miles away. Any way, going to get student stuff done as much as I can today. And get more sleep tonight.

Judy, so sorry to hear of your stress. I think of you often, and, although there is nothing I can do to help, I do send good vibes through the air to you.
Hey Cheryl, you are really getting around, Happy to hear you are meeting up with such nice people!!!
I am picturing in my mind your beautiful yard covered in snow Sue. I remember the pictures you have posted in the past. Your day driving to Machinach City...was it the same route you took me when I was there? I am so thankful I Had that wonderful trip last year. Gives me much pleasure remembering it.
Adventures of the generator, Sheila. What next?
Did 22 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, then went to a birthday party at my daughters home for her MotherInLaw.
It is raining here this morning! Hooray! Love the rain.

Oh, Judy, the stress you must be under. I'm so sorry. Sue, yes, Linda is returning. Sheila, is this the 2nd one working? Or did you replace it and the third is the charm? Either way, yay, you have power!

I elected to sit still today because of the rains. Ha, I don't even think we got any over night. I should be careful what I say but it's mostly sunny and beautiful right now.

Judy, hang in there. That is a lot to handle. Take one thing at a time and rest in between. You have your hands full but need to stay healthy.

Went in to work this morning but was sent home a couple hours later. The manager asked me to do a split shift since one stylist can't make it in today. She is the one who is pregnant. There are major complications with the baby who is not expected to survive and now mom's health is in danger too so they are taking the baby today.

So I am home for a few hours. Will get some things done around here. It has been raining off and on and is very windy and chilly out. Big storm system rolling thru but most of the heavy rain is south of here (Salton Sea and Borrego Springs area) and heading to San Diego.

Have the next two days off. Tomorrow is golf and then a luncheon at a local restaurant. I want to go over to my storage unit and get my gourd crafting stuff so I can start getting that set up in my porch. The books I had to re-ordered that didn't make it to me the other day, will be arriving today (hopefully!)

I am thinking of getting rid of my stacking washer and dryer. They are both very small and I end up going to the laundry room down the street anyways. I can do 3 loads much faster there. Would take me two days to do all that at home. I need that space more for storage. I have very little bathroom storage and the washer/dryer is right outside the bathroom door. Also need a spot for my broom, mop and vacuum cleaner. Will have to get it disconnected and see if I can sell it cheap. The dryer works but takes forever to dry and squeaks alot.

Have a good day and stay warm and dry!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Got news that uncle did not have a brain stem stroke, as they had expected, but he is still very, very sick. The doctor wants to talk to me about moving him to a nursing home, but not for a couple of days. I want to make sure nursing home will honor do not resuscitate order, as some do not.

Back to work....

I'll see if I can make a post. This computer is so sensitive that if I touch the wrong key my post disappears.

I started out for Florida yesterday. It was a good travel day except for the wind. We had to fight a cross wind all day. We made it to Dowling Park this afternoon. So far Sugar has been a good traveler. I have left her in the RV a couple of times and haven't heard her bark. I just have to be sure her leash is tied to something if I want to get out without her. She wants to go where ever I go.

Cheryl, hope we get to see you. We will be here until Wednesday and moving to the rally. I will probably head home on Sunday but will have to see. I don't think Carolyn and Colleen know what they are going to do. As you have found out, it is really hard to get a reservation.

Judy, sorry to hear about your uncle. It sounds like he should be under hospice care if they have that where he is.

My left foot wants to cramp last night and tonight. Hope it will let me sleep.

Judy, I am so sorry you are going through the health situations with your aunt & uncle. I can only imagine how tiring that has to be.

Martha, I wish I had known you would be so close. We had a great time doing things with Cheryl. Enjoy the weather, as it's finally acting like we're in FL.
