Friday, end of Jan

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday, end of Jan

Postby Bethers » Fri Jan 31, 2020 1:20 pm

Yep, tomorrow is rabbits morning.

I intended to drive a bit today, about 50 miles only to check out another spot for tonight. But the wind (not predicted or even shown by any of the weather apps) woke me up before 7 am! And it's still going strong. Should it lessen, I'll hook up and go, otherwise it's an inside day. There's lots I should be doing in here but I foresee reading a book will win. I'm glad I'm not in a hurry! Even Ty cut our morning walk short. I don't know where all the weather apps are getting their numbers.

Have a great day. And Cheryl, send me a fresh cannoli, please. Or the lasagne. Even just a small piece. Lol

Sun is shining here today and 52 no wind. So I need to go to Home Depot for some weed killer and moss killer. Supposed to be 60 today so hopefully that will help with the moss and weed eradication LOL

Stay hunkered Beth always something to do inside even if it is nothing LOL

Going to be a lazy day. I was up late, actually for the last two nights, trying to make a week's worth of reservations along the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah Parkways. I had forgotten about a major holiday again--duh!!! Memorial Day. Oops. Also, I can do without Verizon for a day, but it is skimpy along the parkways, so I will probably end up having to stop at visitor centers and do some work if I cannot get enough at a campsite. Basically, I am staying at no-hookup sites directly on the parkway, but I tried to find a place at Waynesboro, between the two parkways, and could find only junky-looking commercial campgrounds costing $60 per night. If I am going to stay someplace I don't like, I will stay at a cheap federal place I don't like for $10 a night!!!!

Anyway, I till need to get the two hardest nights (Friday and Saturday of Memorial Day weekend), but am going to be at Front Royal, which at least has quite a few campgrounds. Going to tackle that right now. Then the usual work on my class.

Just watched a guy in a big Class A try to back into his site. He did not cut it sharp enough and crunched a medium-sized palm tree!! It was a horrible noise. Hope the noise was due to damage to his vehicle and not to the tree!! Motorhomes can be fixed, but trees, not so easily. There are very nice palm trees at each of the sites here at Midway. Each is about 20' tall, and 6' from the road and 5' from the paved site, so he should have been able to make the turn, especially since there is no one across from us, and we can drive on the hard grass.

Lasagna and cannolis sound good. The deli had shrimp fettuccine and fried catfish today but I made myself eat some salmon out of the freezer. I don't really like salmon so don't know why I bought some. I don't know what I'll have for supper.

Didn't do much of anything today. We finally had some sun so was a little bit warmer. No plans for tomorrow.

Martha, I'm really picky with salmon so almost never buy it.

The winds really slowed down this afternoon to what they claimed they were all morning. So I hooked up the car and traveled about 30 - 35 miles. Such a difficult day. Ty and I took a long walk here and he's now telling me it's his dinner time. He sure doesn't understand the time change lol

I've been invited to a social here at 1 pm tomorrow. I need to find if I need to bring anything. I'm not sure what I have. That might determine if I decide to be sociable or not. I'll move on Sunday. At least that's the jello plans right now.

Got up and went to see my doctor this morning. She thinks I have osteo-arthritis but took ex-rays and blood work to rule out anything else. I got the x-rays done in the same building but the bloodwork I had to go to another place for that. Had to go home and look up the locations and then go back to get the bloodwork done. Took forever to find the right building in the complex since there were no signs saying which building or office it was, (of course Google Maps sent me on a wild goose chase as well).
I have my annual physical next Thursday so will find out the results then. She is a very nice doctor. I wore my wrist brace to bed last night and it felt much better today which is good. She also wrote a note for work saying I cannot do perms or styling anymore. Now I don't have to feel guilty about not doing them. Doctors orders!

I was not happy tho when I checked in at the clinic. My insurance card says "copay for dr appointments $15. The gal at the front desk told me that is wrong and I owed a co-pay of $40! :o I will be calling my insurance company about that! I have been hearing bad things about them and am going to see if I can switch to another insurance company. I can't even find an Urgent Care who will take that insurance. Of course, I also had to pay a co-pay of $65 for the x-rays!

Then I went to pay my registration fee for my park model that was due today. I noticed the name on the form they sent me still had the previous owners name. When I went to the DMV they told me to bring in the title for proof. I went home and found the title in between a bunch of papers when I bought the house. It was still in her name! It never got transferred. So I brought that in and they asked how much I paid for the house. I had brought some papers that had the purchase price on it. She then tells me I owe $8000. Wow! I sure wasn't expecting that! I was just speechless! I went home and transferred the money to my checking account and went back to pay it. The next lady I dealt with looked it all over and asked what the price of the house was, not the whole house and lot. She said I only have to pay on the house itself. Big difference! So back home I go and I find the papers that say what the house value is which is less than half of the total amount I paid for it. So that will make a significant decrease in what I owe but still way more than I expected due to my oversight on the original transfer. By the time I got the new numbers figured out, the DMV was already closed for the day, so I will have to wait to go back until next week. Whew!!!

Very stressful day today! Back to work tomorrow. Hopefully, I will remember to say "rabbits". I can use all the luck I can get right now!

Feels like bedtime already and it is only 6pm! I feel like I was attacked by a money-sucking vampire today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, I'm sure the sales tax laws are different in every state. When we bought our "Modular Home" which is just an upgraded double wide trailer we didn't have to pay sales tax because they took the tongue and wheels off. That made it unmovable and considered real estate and not taxable. I don't know if that could be done with park model trailers.

Also, Barbie, check your closing papers. I am surprised that they did not take the money out for the registration then. But maybe it is different for a "mobile" home. That is a LOT of money to be surprised with.

Finally, found a place to stay over Memorial Day weekend Saturday and Sunday, but I had to change my route slightly, and I also had to sign up for Monday night because there was a three-day minimum. There were a lot of really crummy, very old, commercial campgrounds available, but they really looked awful and wanted to charge $50 to $65 per night, which is highway robbery, as they say. My 7 nights on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah Parkway were only $10 per night, but no hookups, which is OK. I had made a reservation on Saturday night at a state park, but it was $37, but the three nights at this COE park were $11 each, so even with cancelling the state park, it will be worth it. And it has electric and paved sites, plus Verizon service. Yea! Whole thing took me hours and hours.

You would think I would have learned by now to make big holiday weekend reservations earlier and save myself a lot of time and energy.

I am going to make my Ohio and Michigan reservations for June tomorrow. It is the beginning of summer season, and while I can spend a few nights in my son's driveway, I don't want to not have options.
