Cold Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cold Tuesday

Postby Irmi » Tue Jan 21, 2020 1:37 pm

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've started the day here. We woke up to temperatures in the mid 30's and a stiff breeze but tomorrow will be colder yet, as it will be around 29 degrees, in Ocala FL.

Next week Monday, we'll be leaving here to go to Daytona for a week, to dog sit my sister & bill's dog while our bil will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant. He's been taking chemo for the last two years and this is a trial treatment to see if they can rid him of cancer.

Looking forward to hearing from the ladies in Q. I think today is the potluck. Beth, I hope you like the new braking system you bought. Sue, O'Sharon and others are braving the snow. Enjoy your day, wherever you are!

Yes, it is cold here too! And, altho not much, some rain! Always welcome.
Irmi, I'm always interested in hearing of new developments in treating cancer. Have lost two close family members to that horrible disease.
Had a nice lunch out with a friend a few days ago. Fish and chips...love 'em.

A few sprinkles in Q this morning, just enough to spot the dust on the car. Still overcast a little but sun is suppose to show up. At least the temps are ok. Navajo tacos in a few hours.

Thanks for starting coffe Irmi. Was a busy morning for me as I had appt. for a recall on n my truc, not a big deal but had it amen care of. Popped back on to tbe furniture store as I decided the recliner was the choice over the little snowblower. Can get one of those next fall for next Winter if I want. I don’t mind shoveling what I need to shovel. I consider the shovel, the big snowblower and my dog walks, my Fitbit  Did a bit of grocery shopping, stopped at the truck dealer to find out a couple things from my sales guy on way home as thry were all out moving vehicles in the lot so it could be completely plowed out. Plus move some around too.

BJ, I have been leasing for a number of years now. I like the flexibility of it. Don’t have to worry about repairs, new tires etc. etc. cause it’s under warranty and you don’t put enough miles on today’s vehicles to warrant having to replace certain items at x number of miles.Just need to do routine maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations etc. If it happens that it should get totaled before the lease is up, you may have to pay the difference between what the insurance company didn’t pay and how much you owe in lease payments plus possibly couple other fees depending. The manufacture can terminate the lease or put you in a substitute vehicle and you continue paying your lease amount instead. If insurance pays more than the depreciation amount, you get the rest refunded. You have to maintain your insurance coverage. But on the flip side, if you are buying a vehicle and take out a loan, I’m sure the lending institution is going to want their money too. So you can be out both ways. If you don’t drive a lot of miles, a lease sometimes can be cheaper payment wise than buying a new vehicle, plus it puts you in a new vehicle every two or three years. New ones and even used ones keep getting more expensive and you never know for sure where the used one has been. All you can do is have faith in the seller or dealer. It boils down to a matter of personal choice. A lot of people up here lease, unless they drive too many miles a year to make it worthwhile.

Sun’s peeking out a bit this late Tuesday afternoon. It’s cold out, Wind is cold. But next two weeks are supposed to be above normal a bit which will put us in The 30’s. Those are more the norm for March, which is actually not far down the line as February is a short month. We have had 78 inches of snow so far, which is norm for now. Days are getting longer too.

Guess I will head for the kitchen and get some supper preps started. Till later.....

They are saying we might have a freeze last night but it only got down to 36 here. It looks like it will warm up for the next week. There's a 90% chance of rain for Thursday so I might see if I can get the mower started tomorrow and mow the weeds. My brother posted a picture of the snow in his yard. He said it was 40cm which I think is about 18 inches. I'm too lazy to look up a conversion.

I brought the motorhome to the shop I use to get an oil change and get them to check things out. This will be the first time I've had it in for an oil change since I bought it. I need to make an appointment to get the jacks checked. There is one that doesn't want to go down sometimes and one that doesn't stow correctly.

Yesterday I went to look at a dog someone wanted to re-home and brought her home. She is a Blue Heeler. I figured she would have heart worms and she does. I stopped at my vet's to make an appointment to get her checked out and he went ahead and did it. The local shelter wouldn't let me adopt because of the cats and a dog from there would have heart worms too. The cats aren't too happy but she ignores them. I think she would chase one of the outside cats if she got a chance. It will be a long time before she gets out without a leash. She was suppose to be house broken and so far no accidents. I will have to get a picture to my computer so I can post it.

Made it to Midway after a 320 mile drive--obviously I did not think it through when I made my reservation. Horrible traffic going through the Fort Lauderdale-Miami area and somehow got on the toll road. I really hate that area and that road because it is very confusing. I had to get off to fill up with gas and had a really difficult time getting back onto the highway because of one-way turns the wrong way and barriers in the middle. Most people could do a U-turn, but you all know how those go with an RV!! No gas within 25 miles of Midway and no groceries within 45-50 miles depending on which way you go, so I had to stop and stock up for 10 days.

Anyway, I had hoped to get here by 6 but ended up not getting here until 8:30 pm. Very very dark out here and no lights in the campground at all. Luckily I had been here before so I knew where my site was and where the water fill station was located. Filled up in the dark with a flashlight, and then got help from someone backing into my spot, and finding it in the dark in the first place! Anyway, last night south of Daytona it went down to 43 and looks like it will go down at least that here tonight. Love this place because of the quiet and dark sky. No moon so stars are incredible.

And somehow they have a little cell service, or at least enough data so I can email and work. Whew. In the past I would have to drive out a few miles each day.

Saw several flashing blue and red lights while driving down the almost deserted Tamiami Trail. Turns out the reminder speed limit things go nuts when you are over the speed limit and start flashing like crazy. Not sure how many miles they are set for but I have never seen them before. I thought it was police stopping people.
