Blustery Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Blustery Sunday

Postby Othersharon » Sun Jan 12, 2020 9:42 am

Good morning. After a 60* day yesterday the wind started late last night and it rained most of the night. Earlier the temp was still in the 50’s but is going down now. The wind was really howling last night and although it seems to have slowed down a bit it’s still blowing. But from the sound of what I’m hearing this is nothing compared to what is happening in other parts of the country. Sue, I hope you are okay as well as anyone else in the path of this storm. I went into town yesterday but didn’t even think about the students coming back this week end. Needless to say I didn’t do what I had hoped to do! Nothing so important that it can’t wait! I did take advantage of the nice day yesterday and started Lola and ran the generator for a bit. And dreamed! Spring will come! So that’s about it for me today. Hope everyone enjoys their time at Q and any other gtgs! Have a great day and stay safe.

Sunshine Sundsy

Postby Colliemom » Sun Jan 12, 2020 10:04 am

Hi all. Beautiful sunny morning here behind the storm. Now that all is said and done, I think we got about 4 1/2 inches. Drop in the bucket here. It’s cold out though, but will warm up a bit now that the sun is out. Will head out in a while and fire up the blower to clean up the fluff. Be a nice day for a dog walk later as temps will head into 20’s with light winds. This has been a wicked storm.

Birdie, hope some of the rains will send some water down river to you. Up here it’s just the opposite as we have too much.

Barbie, that was nice of the neighbor to take Lily in. I’m sure Lola will be happier.

Glad to hear all’s well with Martha and her group. Nothing more frightening than rocking and rolling in a severe storm. Ask me how I know :)

Going to get my act together here and get the outside work done. Have a nice day everyone :)

Good morning gals! :D

Must have ate something bad yesterday because I got nasty cramps at work later in the day. Took some Pepto for it and they went away but last night it hit again and I was losing it both ways at the same time! :o Felt OK otherwise and woke up this morning feeling good. So much flu going around here so I am glad it wasn't that!

My friend cancelled on the pancake breakfast due to being sick, so I went by myself. It started at 8:30 so I figured I would wait and miss the initial crowd. I got there about 9:15. Turns out I timed it perfect since the church service let out at 9:30 and the next crowd came in after that. When I went to leave I discovered that someone had parked their cart behind mine. I mentioned it to someone and they told me to just move the other one. I questioned that but they said everyone double parks and leaves their keys in the ignition so the cart can be moved. Really? So I went ahead and moved the other cart, got mine out and moved theirs back in. Never would have considered that, but they told me that is why everyone double parks, fully expecting people to move theirs out of the way if needed. Ya learn something new every day!!

Hoping Lily and her new "mom" had a good night. Will check later to see how it is going.

Got a few haircuts to do later and then work on the house. Meanwhile, I need to let my pancakes settle.

For some reason, I have a $200 credit on my Amazon account on a gift card. I never bought a gift card so am not sure why I have that. Will have to call them to find out where that came from.

Beautiful day today! Probably about 60 now and sunny and slight breeze. Very nice! Wish I had time to just go out and do something fun like hiking. There is a new hiking area just down the street from here called the Indio Badlands which I have heard is really cool with lots of interesting rock formations, etc. It is closed right now because they are making a new nicer parking area and making it more official looking. Will have to check that out when it re-opens.

Good Morning, was happy to read that all our friends down south are safe! As I don’t do Facebook I appreciate those who repost the news. That was billed as a humdinger of a storm. Then, no news this morning except horrifying news of tornados, but no intameant details.
Barbie, loved the report of the sexuality of your coworkers! Real diversity in a peaceful setting!
Beautiful day here today. Watching women’s basketball. Will switch to football later this morning.
Went to a birthday celebration last evening at the “boy friends” home. Was very nice and excellent food.
He is pressuring my daughter to move into his home. She likes to come here to the co;do to write and visit me two or three days a week. They looked at a large home where I could live with them. However, I do not want to leave downtown! ( and he does not want to live downtown) I keep exploring and thinking of different options.

Lyn, it's good to have options. Years ago when I loved visiting Chicago I said it or a few other big cities would be great when I was retired. Everything you could want and no driving necessary. So I understand. I'm so sorry you're missing Q. If the weather forecasters are right, this will be perfect weather here. And you will be sorely missed. (Karen, this year will be what you were looking for and didn't get.)

And, I, too, am glad all my friends who weathered the storms are safe.

Barbie, you've been getting some wonderful tips. Remember to save for when the snowbirds go north! Glad your tummy upset was of short duration. I would love to see the Indio Badlands. I'm making a mental note to visit, maybe next winter.

I've been very lazy. When I start to get upset at myself I remember my summer months where I am too busy. But I do want to do some reorganizing. So, hopefully I'll get started on that today.

I'm not ignoring any posts, but have already rambled too much. Happy Sunday everyone!

Beth, that would be fun to have you out here! There are a lot of great hiking places around here. I will check out the badlands and let you know what that is like.

One haircut down, two more to go. Got $25 for the first one. She knows someone who needs a haircut too, and I gave my number to a lady I sat with at the pancake breakfast this morning who also wants a haircut. My neighbor needs one again too. I might be really busy here pretty soon!

Good afternoon. Sat down to have some lunch and now I dont want to get back up..........so think I wont LOL

Glad everyone fared well in the storms, that is very scary. It is cloudy today, might get a few sprinkles. The sun was out earlier but now it has disappeared. I am done working for today. Going to snuggle up with my heated throw, a peppermint mocha, and a silly dog.

Wow Barbie you are the haircut queen, you just might make some good bucks there. Happy for you.

Lyn, such a dilemma to decide where to live. Hope it all sorts itself out. Beth I sure hope you all have fantastic weather, at least a few days of sun and not much wind. Have a Shelia taco for me too LOL

I made it back from the campout and the cats were glad to see me. I didn't get my son to come clean the litter boxes and 4 days is about the limit they can go without being cleaned. There are six litter boxes so they don't all have to use the same one. Colleen is staying until Wednesday and I told them if they do something to call me and I'll go meet them.

That was some scary weather Friday night. Thinking about Cheryl's damage with the hail I really though about coming home where I have a cover for the motorhome. It looked like the worst of the weather was going North so I just pulled my slide in. Didn't get much sleep but as soon as the rain hit the wind let up. It was pretty cool last nigh but back up to 70 today.

I don't know what's going on with me but I'm sore all over. I guess since I won't be drinking wine I could take one of my pain pills.

Barbie, I hope the new home works out for Lily.

Humidity is horrible here on the ocean, though the ocean breezes are wonderful. (There is a sort of salt "fog" that blows in along with the breeze, so I have to wash windows I look out of each day.) A problem is that for the last couple of nights, my floor was damp throughout motorhome and towels would not dry. So, this morning, I turned on AC and closed windows. I can go outside to enjoy the breezes, but having everything damp is not pleasant.

So, I changed my bed this morning and put clean and DRY towels in my bathroom! Went for a long bike ride into Flagler Beach and worked on sorting old medical reports on my aunt. She is having an appointment for a cardiologist on the 21st, so I wanted to find old reports from her cardiologist in Georgia. Started with a 2" stack and ended up with about 1/4 ". Did I mention that they saved EVERYTHING?????? Some of it went back to 2007. Need to do the same thing with my uncle now. Also, need to have a campfire and burn the junk papers I tossed out. Don't want to put them in trash.

Sunny and 77 out today and looking good for rest of week, so enjoying it here, in spite of dampness. And Beth, when I leave in 8 days, I will stop at a Blue Beacon and get a good truck wash, including underneath!

Made another $50 on the two other haircuts. I only ask for $15 but I usually get $20-25. So not a bad day financially!

Went outside to lay on my swing to relax a bit and ended up moments later grabbing my little saw and trimming back all the overgrowth on the tree out back. It looked more like a giant bush than a tree! Messy job tho. Between the sap all over the twigs and leaves and the fact I don't have a rake to rake up all the leaves and branches I took off, I was sore and sticky afterward. Need to get a small rake and gloves for next time. The landscape people are supposed to trim that stuff but they haven't been around for awhile. And this is the same tree I told them last time not to trim because I liked the shade it provides. They really scalped the one next door that time. I can trim it in between, I just let it go too long this time.

So now I am relaxing on the couch after scrubbing all the sap off my hands and arms. (got some of it in my hair as well  ). Need to find some lunch soon. Got the Seahawks/Packers game on. Not sure which one I want to win.

Will check on Lily later on and report back...

Talked to Lily's new mom, Cami, and she said Lily has just been sleeping a lot, but eating well. She lets Cami cuddle her for awhile before going off to sleep again. So far she hasn't asked to go outside. I am sure she is probably very relieved to not be outside and to have a warm, safe, place to hang out now. Sounds like it should work out fine for both of them. Cami said it is nice to have a companion again.

Perfect Barbie! Wonderful the way this is turning out.
