Friday - The Calm Before The Storm

Morning. Friday has arrived and with it, a large menacing storm moving east. Looks like quite a tornado outbreak expected down south as well as severe weather. Here in Michigan it’s going to be ice and snow issues. My area is in a heavy snow band possibility. 6-12+ inches of snow and gusty winds. I would rather have that, than the ice predicted farther down. I have gas for my blower and snow shovel is sitting by the door where it spends the Winter. Had some freezing rain and then rain last night, which iced up the hard packed dirt and some secondary roads, causing multiple school closings. Temp was 40 when I got up this morning. Way above average.

Went shopping yesterday and then found I’m low on a couple things, so will go to town and get them plus couple other errands since nothing going on today. Then will spend the weekend watching a good old fashioned snowstorm. Maybe I might even get that scrapbook done

Beth, thanks for the heads up on the dentist. Been there done that with the root canal and crown business. Root canal didn’t bother me but my jaw was sure sore after the crown installation. All the pushing necessary to make sure it’s in there Martha, hope you and your camping gals have scoped out a safe haven at the campground just in case. Heed my Severe Weather post in General Talk. You just never know when it might come in handy. I need to check through my little backpack again too. Al you other gals stay safe down there.

Just finished re-reading the posting about being prepared for storms. It reminded me that this past summer I had to order a bunch of stuff for evacuations bags for my aunt and uncle in memory care. It included changes of clothing, but also things like extra socks and slippers, pajamas, towel and washcloth, soap and personal care items like hairbrushes, single bed sheets, new pillow, blanket, etc. All this goes into a very large bag and gets stored for each resident in case they have to all be evacuated for an impending storm. It also reminded me that I have neglected to get a plastic raincoat and some other supplies I need to add to a "go-bag."

Going to vacuum today, then put away the shades and valence until I can get them attached again, and then get out my printer to print some stuff out that needs to be mailed. Then I need to dump tanks since I have been here three days and have done a lot of dishes. Might have to drive to post office to mail stuff also. Plus, want to clean up my bike and get rust off wheel spokes.

So, lots to do today, but the weather is really lovely, so not hard to do outside things.

I'm not good with having a preparedness bag and I admit it. Some things I'd want in it aren't easily accessible, either. Oh well. I'm proud of those of you who are. I do admit when I lived in the north I had some items in my trunk which came in handy a few times.

Today and yesterday will have similar highs here. Yesterday I was comfortable outside in a t-shirt. Today I'm cold with a t-shirt and sweatshirt. Dang north wind today. I just checked and it'll be gone tomorrow. This afternoon I'll play ball with Ty, but I'll be standing on the south side of my rig to block the wind, that's guaranteed.

Been busy this morning. Was at the grocery store at 8am LOL they are having a sale on wild caught Cod so I wanted to get a box. Came home and vacuum sealed it, I have enough fish now for months. It is their semi- annual meat sale also so I bought a pork brisket so sliced and froze that up too. Oh yes they had a big box of already cooked chicken wings so again my vacuum sealer was humming Was finally done about 11. Then had to break down the boxes, gather the trash and take that over to the dumpster. Took Emma for a walk, picked up my mail and now thinking about some leftover stew for lunch.

Taking Emma to the groomer at 1:30 so once that is over I get to relax and have nowhere to go this weekend YAY Will still do my one project a day but it wont be anything big LOL

Only slight breeze and sun here. Very small chance of rain here over next few days. Some nights are colder than others, but of course, our cold night is tshirt weather for many of you!
Ive been to curves amd picked up cat food, now need to shower and dress for chiropractor in two hours. Then see when Sean wants to go to Home Depot to pick up trim and lights.
Have a open house to attend tomorrow night and Monday the church empty nesters group.

A busy day at work again today. Lots more snowbirds come down in January after the holidays so it is busy everywhere out here. Did a haircut today on a guy who lives just a few miles from where I grew up so we had a lot to talk about.

The wind finally died down today. The constant wind makes me nervous for some reason. Temps are comfortable tho in the low 70's. Hoping the weather in Q is at least dry when I go there, if not comfortable temps. It is usually cold, windy, and rainy at least part of the time.

Trying to get all my bills paid ahead of time so I have some cash to play with in Q at the flea market.

played games this afternoon made Hawaiian Hay Stacks so good...
yesterday as Beth said we went to Parker spent way more than I should have
but oh well it's just money
looked at the weather and if it holds true it should be in the 70's and no chance of rain.. that is the forecast didn't look at the wind though...
need to hurry so I can't get stuff taken care of and see if I can get out of this parking spot without wrecking something a tire or ornaments
some one was visiting my friend in a small car parked at a really weird angle so I parked weird realized when I was getting stuff out that I potentially had problems

Hi ladies! After reading all your weather reports, we are fortunate that the temperatures are back to where I like them, waking up in the 60's with daytime highs in the high 70's to low 80's. The afternoon's have been breezy but not overly windy.

Sheila, it's nice reading your posts before I go to bed. LOL! I hope all of you in Q have a wonderful time.

Tomorrow, the campground is having a Poker Run and Steve & I are on of the 7 stops everyone needs to find. Because we are located on the end of a street, we should be easy to locate. I baked chocolate chip cookies, macadamia/white chocolate cookies, Steve made a banana rum cake today, tomorrow we'll put together a crockpot of meatballs, we also have lots of cordials to offer and also bottled water for those who want that. We're looking forward to this and hope everyone has good time. The weather will be spectacular.

When I lived and worked in Michigan, I had a 35 miles and then later a 20 mile drive to work. During the winter, I kept a tote bag in the trunk that contained a change of clothing, plus an extra pair of comfortable shoes, a couple of days worth of medications, and a toothbrush and such. If we had a really big snow, I would check into a hotel or stay with friends instead of trying to make the drive back home.

I also need to put something together for my motorhome travels, although a good reason to drive a motorhome is that I can usually drive out of trouble, that is assuming I have enough time to do that.
