Into the New Year

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Into the New Year

Postby Colliemom » Thu Jan 02, 2020 8:36 am

Good Morning. Holidays are over, so now we go on into the new year. Was wonderful seeing so many posts and hearing from some of you who have been absent and missed. Carol, Donna, Diane especially. Beki, that’s interesting about your family’s ice cream business. My neighbors winter in Engelwood. Wonder if they have tried it. What’s the brand name?

Reading all those posts brought back memories of times past and updates on n times present. Lyn, hope you get relief from your SOB. Hope your trailer sells soon for you. Karen, love your 30 probably jects in 30 days idea. Like you, this is the time of year I get into things too. Then when spring comes, all done. Finishing up my scrapbook and going through my files are the two things on my list that will be getting attention first. I do the files every year in January, just keeping what’s necessary and shredding the rest. Also making sure anything Income Tax related is in it’s file for tax time. I’ve already made sure my legal stuff is in order. Important things as we get older. Painting is on the agenda this winter too.

But right now it’s time to check few more things on here, get cleaned up, out of jammies and off to town. Have a wonderful day out there :)

Good Morning to All - I just read all the New Years posts. Good to hear from so many great ladies. Here in Mazatlan we are just heading into our third day of RAIN. Internet keeps going in and out, but I think that is due to all the people using it. A couple hundred thousand Mexican tourist in town for the holidays. Hotels at 100%. New Years Eve day there were three huge cruise ships in port another 15,000 people. And it poured most of the day. Just looked out the window and for the first time in 2 days I see clear sky and sun. Very unusual weather here this year. At least this time the RV park didn't flood and our window didn't leak.
Yesterday was our 55th anniversary. Doesn't seem possible its been that many years.
I read morning coffee and general posts daily, but don't usually post. Working on the blog every day takes up a lot of my on line time. I had forgotten about Bunny Foo Foo...and wonder where or what happened to so many of the old original members. Even though I haven't met a lot of you when I tell someone about whats going on I refer to "my friend on the Women's RV Forum."
So far we are having a good time in Mazatlan. All the noise and dirt from the construction next to us last year is gone. The leaf cutter ants seem to be gone as all the beautiful flowering plants in the RV Park are blooming like crazy. We are still meeting up with friends here that we haven't seen yet this year.
I try to write about our doings or seeings daily in the blog. Link in signature if you're interested in life in Mazatlan, Mexico and the small towns around it.
If it stays dry out today it will be an errand type of day. Still sooooo many tourists from inland here the traffic is horrider than usual.

Good chilly morning, as per usual. Had a quiet New Years Day, just did my planned project for yesterday, Then worked on setting up my new Fitbit because I lost my other one somewhere????? I think the bracelet part broke and it fell off. Not sure if it is in the house or somewhere never to be seen again. I like being able to track steps and sleep. Also needed a watch LOL Figured if I bought a new one the old one would show up ha ha

Project for today is vacuum and dust. Not a big project but has to be done.

Going to continue to get the pictures off another old computer so I can take them to the recycle center and be done. Then one day I need to go thru my box of pictures and decide what I want to scan to disk or throw away. THAT will be time consuming.

Dinner today will be chicken drumsticks in the Air Fryer. I did go to the store yesterday and get loaded up on fresh veggies. I am trying to eat healthy, low carb, lower calorie meals. I love carbs so this takes a bit of work. I just need to pick them carefully, not frequently, and smaller portions LOL Not a huge sweet eater so that part is pretty easy. I started a couple of weeks ago and have lost 4lbs but I know it will be slower from here on out. Slow and steady is my motto now LOL

It was a quiet day here yesterday, also. Ty and I got our walks in, but I think I cheated on one. But he didn't get cheated as we played ball for quite awhile.

Today Sheila has some errands to run this afternoon and I'll go along for the ride. I should keep my purse home as I don't need anything, but we know how that goes.

I only heard it raining once last night about 11:30 but it must have rained a good bit because there is water standing in the yard. Looks like we have more rain on the way. The temperature is back up to 72. It seems like it has been unusually warm this winter so far.

I had to wait for a load of jeans to wash and dry so I could get dressed. There were 6 pair to wash. I usually wash every couple of days and don't know why I got so far behind. It's a good thing my project yesterday was to get the Christmas stuff out of the camper. There was a handful of mail with my electric bill in one of the sacks. I wouldn't have missed it until I got a late notice. I don't know what my project will be for today. Every year I order the same calendar. I ordered one in December, it came in and last night I couldn't find it. It's 18 inches long so not a little thing. I use to be the finder of things in the family and now I'm the loser. For some reason I have ended up with a lot of pictures and albums of my mother's family. I keep saying I need to label the pictures because I only have a couple of cousins left that would know who is in the pictures. Would like to find someone that wants them because my son could care less and giving them to my sister would be like throwing them away.

I have cooked steak and hamburger patties in my air fryer but haven't tried chicken yet. I put some olive oil on some fresh green beans and I liked them. There is a potluck at the campout next week so need to think of something to cook that I can freeze. I'm going on Wednesday and the potluck is not until Saturday. I don't like to cook on the 2' of cabinet space I have in the camper. Everyone will probably want to be eating out a lot because they will be in Cajun country.

I have the Garmin Viofit and will probably need another one before too long. The last time I took it out of the band one of the corners was broken so have to be extra careful about getting water on it. I like to see how many steps I make, not that it motivates me a lot. I miss having Hank to walk with. There are 3 cats that try to follow me down the road so have to feed them behind the house so I can get away. They are on to that trick and will be in the road before I get back.

Already been to the trailer. Brought a box of things for it. I bought a pillow thing for the bathroom vent but it is too big so will return that. Removed the old battery to return to the battery store for a refund and went to install the new battery but the box it goes in is too small so I need to get a new one of those.

Need to get ready for work soon. I have several errands to run before I get there so I need to leave early to have enough time to get those done.

It has been sunny and finally warm again. Yesterday was perfect and today looks to be the same.

Have a good day! :D

I am participating in World Carnivore month so my meals are easy to plan. Karen, which air fryer do you have. They just look so huge, counter space wise that I keep hesitating. Yet I keep hearing how people are using them in different ways, that sound interesting.
I'm going to jump into 30 projects mode today. Yesterday was parade and football day. Son has been very good at finding feeds for both and we both enjoy the New Years tradition of watching both. Today I will cut boxes for recycle and take all plus dead batteries to recycle and get son to gather his bottles and cans to take. All good projects for today. Luckily the recycle places are only about a half mile away.
I haven't made specific camping plans yet. I'm trying to decide if a trip to see grand kids and son in MN will be practical as he is hoping to soon secure a police position, , and once he does, it will be a year or more before he has vacation time. I may just opt for near by short trips this year. So much yet to do on our home.
As my vision settles down from the new implants, I'm getting more done. It's amazing to not pick up glasses as I get up each morning.
Our weather has been mostly clear for a few days and days in 50's, nights upper 30's. Sure hope rain returns soon, as we need it. First snow surveys this week, up n the Sierras, which measures water content for supply to our steams and lakes and reservoirs. Hope they are at least average.
Have a good start to 2020 everyone.

Velda I actually have 2 I have a big one for home. Power XL Elite 5.5L I believe. Holds 3 chicken thighs (bigger ones) easily. Then I have a Chefman 3.7L for the RV. I just made chicken drumsticks for lunch and they came out sooooo good. So juicy. I LOVE my air fryer and cook in it almost daily. The 5.5 is egg shaped and is like a big egg LOL the Chefman is much smaller so it just depends how much you want to cook in it at one time. I like to make meatballs, put them in a glass dish and then put some sauce over them, so good. Fish comes out great, salmon is really good.

Velda, and I have the large Chefman and the baby Chefman (bigger and smaller than Karen's middle sized one). I love them. The small one is in the rv with me and perfect for one. I have been able to cook for two in it, but rarely need to.

Barbie, how much too big is the cushion for your vent? Most vents are the same size. And the cushions ate deliberately big so they have to be squeezed in. Just checking before you return it.

Beth, the pillow is a couple inches too big but also the handle to crank open the window sticks down a few inches and I was worried the pillow wouldn't fit because of that. I haven't returned it yet so maybe I will try it again.

Will be heading out early tomorrow morning with the trailer to get the WD/sway hitch set up.
Luckily the weather is supposed to be warm, sunny and very little wind. The Banning Pass between the mountains heading into LA area can get very windy (where they have a ton of those huge windmills) but that looks good thru that area.

I think I am just nervous because of the scary drive back from LA when I bought it and the hitch ball was too small and the trailer was swaying all over the place and eventually came unhitched. I have to keep reminding myself that I now have the right sized ball and new tires and it should all be fine. Hard to get past a traumatic experience tho until I have a good experience to replace that with.

Need to get to bed soon.

Barbie, it sounds like the pillow is right. And all of mine have the cranks, also. It will fit fine. :)

Safe driving!

Just stuff it over the crank. If it fits otherwise, you can unzip the cover and use a serrated knife to cut a wedge partially out for the handle. I just push it in over the handle.

I haven't returned it yet so will try it. I just held it up with it still in the packaging.
