Happy Solstice Day!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Solstice Day!

Ok, let's get through our shortest amount of sunlight for the year and start seeing it lengthening again.

I'm moving on down the road today. Should get to Q. (Sheila, I'll move by you Monday or Tuesday).

Saturday Before Christmas

Postby Acadianmom » Sat Dec 21, 2019 10:47 am

I woke up about 7:30 and finally got up about 8:00. I feel like I'm moving in slow motion. It's after 9:30 and I'm still drinking coffee. I only went to Walmart and the post office yesterday. One of my fastest trips to Walmart because I needed cat food and a turkey roast for Christmas. I got one more Christmas card mailed. I still haven't ordered my grandson's gift card or a toy for his sister. Amazon makes it so easy to order things I don't know why I even think about going shopping.

Sheila, I know how you feel about people that won't help themselves. My sister won't try to get out and walk. The most exercise she gets is when she goes camping with me. The last time she went to the doctor she had a couple of places with skin break down. Probably from spending half a day in bed. She is 7 years younger than I am. Two of her son's live with her. Where ever they eat is where they leave the plate or trash from take out. Her road has gotten so bad I won't even attempt to go down it in my motorhome.

The radar shows rain just to the East of here but it's overcast and feels damp. I wish the sun would come out. The weather channel keeps talking about a storm with high winds headed to Florida. If it was summer time they would be calling it a tropical storm.

It never fails, if I try to start Morning Coffee someone beats me to it. Beth will have to fix it.

Good morning Beth and those who follow. Beth, where are you staying until you move to Sheila's neighborhood?

Just getting ready to get up for work soon. Mornings have been chilly here but warms up nicely during the day.

I had a visitor last night. Saw some little animal on my deck while I was watching TV, but when I got up to see what it was, it was gone. Was figuring a stray cat. I hear we have a few of those around here. I put out a small dish of cat food hoping it would return. Well, this morning the food AND the dish are gone! :o Only one animal would take the whole dish...a raccoon!

Need to get some things done around here tomorrow since I work the next two days after that til Christmas. Need to go pick up the flowers I need for the centerpieces for the dinner. Have a party to go to in the afternoon but will make that a fairly short visit. Also need to deliver Christmas cards to some friends around here in the park. I have next Friday off, so I think I will take down and put away all the Christmas stuff since the boxes are taking up most of my little living room. Want to get that all put away as soon as possible.

Have a good day! And yay, for more daylight!! :D

Haha, Martha. I saw you were on after I posted so came back to check. There are days I'd love to stay in bed all day. But then I'd feel guilty. And having a dog that needs walking means it can't happen.

Barbie, if it's a raccoon, don't feed anymore. You haven't had fleas since moving, right? Also, if there are coyotes around, they could carry off the dish. So find out what's out there before you feed again, please. (Ty takes his food dish after eating his dinner and puts it with his toys.)

Sooo Christmas Eve will be at Shirl’s Pad, we will be cozy. :D Martha, if I pace myself any slower I will stop moving. Told my daughter if I forget anything I important I will blame it on age. I ask her to cover for me if I do and she said she has my back so I’m good to go. Have lots of lists. Lol

Yesterday left eye cataract surgery with Pan Optix implant, went off without a hitch. It was more complicated by left eye being 20% worse astigmatism than right, but with a special order IOL and extra " relaxing incisions" to reduce astigmatism it got done. I will be having post op exams in January so trips are pretty much out until I know dates plus the VA stuff. But I'm glad I got this done and am in full healing and adaptation mode. My right eye tests 20/25 already though close up is still a challenge. It will get better over the next 2-3 months. Slight discomfort like grit in my eyes esp last night but that is passing. Got to keep up with the 3 types of drops schedule. It's pretty weird to get used to holding reading material out to what others consider normal distance, when one has held reading very close without glasses to read much of time, for 69 years! . I have my shopping done though need to send PayPal $$ to son in MN. Today will help my son cut paper to wrap my gifts from him. Do or supervise a few loads laundry and otherwise relax as ordered. Hope to feel up to driving to and attending the church Christmas service tomorrow. The issue before was how tiring it was to switch distances looking from hymnal to stuff at front of church,,as my brain adapts to the new trifocal images incoming.
Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas doing what you like best.

I hate to say it, but the stores are partly creating their own problems. I went shopping last night at a high-end mall, and parking was horrible. I only went into Dillard's, but the merchandise was really picked over. Did not buy anything. Next stop was much cheaper Kohl's, and parking was easier, but the racks and shelves of clothing, especially the stuff like t-shorts with long or short sleeves looked like the aftermath of a huge sale. Even though there were few people in the store, the merchandise was so messy I was not interested in buying anything. Plus, they had one huge area near the front of the store filled with really messy and disorganized clearance merchandise. The clearance stuff was on racks, but there were long pants, shorts, dressy tops, sweaters, and jackets all on the same racks. Who wants to search through what is mostly junk just to find a so-called bargain?

I want to be able to go into a store and find merchandise organized better, with things like t-shirts neatly folded and organized with smaller sizes on top, like items with like items, etc.

Also, at Dillard's, while I was happy to see sales clerks, I went in looking for a 100% cotton, cuff sleeve Eileen West nightgown. So this lady, kept trying to sell me a similar nightgown by Eileen West made of cotton blended with something called "modal." It is fiber from beech trees, which she said was superior to cotton. Except I told her I wanted 100% cotton, but she would not stop telling me how to wash modal and how it is organic, etc. I finally just left.

And no one had big girl's pajamas!! Baby and toddler pajamas were available, but no girl's size 14.

Was at work this afternoon when a Hispanic woman came it looking for who owned the jeep outside. When I figured out she was talking about my jeep, (in broken English) she said someone hit my car but left a note on the windshield. She also got a photo of the license number. I went out there and got the note which gave the guys name and number. I looked at my car and it had a few little scratches and some chipped paint but no dents. It is on the back fender. I later found the guy and we had a nice conversation. He is actually one of our customers. He wants to pay for the cost of fixing it. So I will get an estimate. It really isn't that bad so am not in a big hurry to get that done.

I found the cat food dish on the deck pushed under a chair. I am pretty sure it is a stray cat. There have not been any coyotes seen in the park here and rarely any raccoons. I will wait to see if it returns before leaving out more food, only if it is a kitty.

Think I will finally make that chili tonight. Also might frost my hair. Need to make a list of things to do for tomorrow. Have a lot of things that need to get done.
