Yucky Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Yucky Monday

Postby Shirlv » Mon Dec 16, 2019 9:40 am

Morning All, Next couple of days predicted to be rain but no freezing temps. I’m still drinking coffee by the Christmas tree for a little cheer on this gloomy day. Spent the morning looking at soup recipes. Stirring in a pot is my way of surviving bad weather. Waiting for one last package to be delivered and I am ready for Christmas. My family will gather again on Christmas Eve at the 52 year old house I sold to my granddaughter. She and her husband are still frantically trying to finish renovations. Some family members are apprehensive about changes but I will love seeing the ole house come alive again. When I moved out the house looked tired like I felt. :D Planning a trip to visit friend Edith. Found a magnet in Cracker Barrel that is perfect for her. “Many of my smiles begin with you.”. We have been laughing together for 76 years. Think I need some music while stirring that pot. Safe travels.

Good morning Shirl. It is a cold 27°morning, cold, damp and foggy. Supposed to only get up to 45° today but no rain today but will be here Wednesday. I am eating leftovers as tomorrow night our community has a catered Christmas dinner. We pay $10 and the owners pick up the rest. That is their Christmas gift to all of us. They do this every year and the food is really very good. I love living in a privately owned park. We only have 165 units here so not large by many standards.

I dont have much Ho Ho Ho this year so decided not to go over to storage and get my Christmas ornaments. Just have to take them down again in a couple weeks LOL I made cookies yesterday to give to my 100 year old neighbor. He gives me Peaches and Pears every year as he and his daughters go picking at Harry & David's orchards and he always brings me some several times during the picking season.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday season. I am going to the Mall next week to look at the beautiful decorations, listen to some Christmas music and get my Peppermint Mocha. Fun to walk around during the hustle and bustle for about an hour or so, then I am done. I dont need to shop so I can just enjoy the mood. I actually do this every year and I do enjoy it.

Well time to shower and then I need to make out my Christmas cards for several friends and a few I have to mail. We have little cubby boxes here by our mailbox so I can just slip them in there, yay no postage LOL

I don't like the crowds so much, the stores here this year are really mobbed. However, there is one street here in my small(ish) town where everyone has their home decorated to the 9's. So I think I'll take the short drive over there and maybe park my car and walk the block.

I love Christmas lights at night, to me they look like glittering jewels hung on velvet. The blow-up balloon figures not so much - but I will enjoy it all anyway.

Last year there was a group that had lights on their bicycles, riding around. Quite a few people park to walk, and it is a lot of fun.

Sometimes one of the residents will come up to my car with candy canes, see me and look in the back seat for kids. I always say "It's just me!" they look surprised, then smile, and give me a candy cane anyway.

I have loved peppermint candy canes since I was a child. Still do!

I like doing just as you described, Karen. I'd love to spend time in a decorated small town as all the movies show. I'd want to be in walking distance of everything.

I drove about 35 or so miles today. These long drives are killing me lol. I wasn't fond of this Maricopa County Park the only other time I stayed here. But I decided to try the other loop and so far, much better. I think McDowell Mountain will remain my favorite though. Since staying at one means splurging I will splurge where I like it most in the future.

Ty is sleeping like it's been a tough day. Next drive will be longer, but short compared to what some of you do. And not happening until Thursday.

My fingers are crossed for good weather in Q this year. Especially because I'll be there longer!

I am going to miss Quartzite, but I have to brag that it was 82 in Sarasota today.

However, I am back to having problems with things not drying. It was chilly last night so I had my small electric heater going and faced it back into the hallway where I had my bath towel hanging after my shower. It has not been getting dry overnight in the bathroom, hence hung it where it could get some of the heat from the heater overnight. Love the birds and animals here, but it is either hot and damp or chilly and damp here. Beautiful and sunny today, at least. And yesterday in St. Augustine was also sunny though not as hot as today.

don't know what the weather has been in Q here in Vegas I think it has been normal to cold but then winter is almost upon us... I know here in the house it is cold but then my comfort temps are higher than what the thermometer is set at   can't complain though... at least not about that...
took my sister to the ortho to get her staples taken out found a parking spot at the very end of all the handicapped parking spots even though she has a tag to be able to park in the handicap parking they were all full so she used her walker and I followed with the wheelchair she zipped along doing so well until she didn't and down she went :o we aren't sure if it was the change in the level or the slight turn or being tired one moment she is standing the next she is laying on the ground... with her being worried about her knee of course and her ankle foot heel hurting.... they did xrays knee is ok didn't see a break but because of the pain figured it was a really bad sprain or possibly a torn ligament so easiest then to do was put her in a cast for a couple of weeks... sorta a walking cast it still hurts a lot... she said it is some of the worst pain she has had and that is saying a lot... two years ago this date her husband passed away... when she said she was getting tired we should have put her in the wheelchair but she was doing so good walking that we just continued on... shouldn't have but then hind site is 20 20 always!!!
my dd posted the cutest pictures of her family with little booties in one showed her dd cuddling the booties so adorable... it's a boy by the way in case I've not shared that
