Snowy Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Snowy Monday

Good morning all. We did get ice yesterday and a bit of snow last night. Snowing now but temps are above freezing so road and sidewalks clear for now. Nothing like you’ve dealt with, Sue. At least not here in town. Other areas close by were hit harder with the ice and snow. It’s moving east and it’ll be out of here later today. Or so they are saying! So dodged it this time. Beth, are you heading out today? My sister’s SIL left CA last Tuesday and finally arrived in Denver late yesterday afternoon. She was in her RV. Braver then I’d be! So today is an inside day to do some things in the house. Always plenty to keep me busy! Barbie, loved the photos of the mountains. I liked the ones of the snowy mountains and the blooming bush and palm tree. Quite a contrast. So not much else happening in my world. Hope you have a good day and travel safe if you are on the road.

Good morning gals! :D

Me and Lola are still hanging out in bed. Finally got caught up on Carol's (Asirimarco) blog this morning. They sure got hit with a ton of rain there too!

We have another storm moving in here on Wednesday and then again next weekend. Not as cold so the snow line for the mountains will be much higher. The rain and warmer temps will probably take care of the snow in the lower elevations.

I have a lot to do around here today so I better get up and moving on it!

Beth, where are you headed now?

Have a great day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

We have had over 2 inches rain in past few days and more to come. We need it. I have to go start waking Chris up and give him his RXs so we can be at his oral surgeons for recheck of extraction site at 11:45. Few things to get ready for cataract surgery tomorrow so he can help fix simple meals for a couple of days. Trying to get Christmas shopping done and help him with his shopping. Not much else going on at moment. Have a safe week everyone.

Sharon, my intentions were to leave today. Barbie, I'm only going 60 miles (Tucson) for a couple/few days... Don't have to be anywhere until early next week for my audiology appt... That's another 60 miles. Then that week I have to get near Phoenix for a week... Yep another 60 miles. That said when my friend Ginger called yesterday morning and said "we HAVE to gtg for lunch before we both leave" (she's headed to Virginia and family for a month or two) of course that took precedence over readying. As it should be, right? I really don't have much to do... But here it is almost noon and I sit on here lol. I'm guessing I'll get everything done shortly then see what time it is. I don't want to arrive in rush hour.

It's beautiful weather so I'm good with either day.

Velda, you've got to be excited about getting this done. I know I'm looking forward to hearing how this new procedure works for you.

I am happy to be at one of my favorite Florida places--Fort Clinch SP on Amelia Island. It is as far north along the Atlantic coast as you can go without being in Georgia. In fact, you can see Georgia across the sound.

What makes this place one of my favorites is that you drive in through a "canopy" of live oaks hanging with Spanish moss--very pretty. Also there are only about 20 RV sites here, in a circle around a rest room and laundry, but in the sand dunes. And the ocean is only a couple hundred to maybe 500 feet from the furthest campsite. And there is maybe half a mile of private beach, without hotels or houses or anything.

It is a bit chillier than I would like--high of 57 tomorrow and low of 38 tonight, but getting into mid to high-60s later in the week, with 77 expected on Monday. Will post on my blog tomorrow. Too tired.

I am sitting out on my decked out deck tonight sipping hot Cappuccino with Baileys! Perfect temp and no wind, just quiet and a few crickets chirping.

Got a late start working on stuff around here since I was trying to change things with my health insurance, ie; new clinic, new doctor, etc. So that took awhile. Finally got to cleaning off my deck and cutting up a ton of boxes (that is what happens when you order on-line all the time!) and hauling them to the dumpster. Then I got out all the X-Mas decorations and started in on that. Got lights and garland and bows on the deck railings. Put up the new Christmas tree on the deck - got a perfect spot for it out of the way of the doors but I can still see it from inside. For only $35, it is really a pretty tree and easy to put up. 6 feet tall, but narrow and heavily flocked. We always had a flocked tree when I was growing up. I have a white velvety skirt around it and I put some old pillows underneath that to look like a mound of snow. I am so clever! . (Baileys kicking in  )

Tomorrow, I will put lights and decorations on it. Looks like a Christmas wonderland on my deck now! Added a bow to my street light and to the front grill of my Jeep. I wanted to replace the metal lizard on the front of my house with a Christmas bell decoration but I really attached the lizard good and can't get it off, so I ended up just putting a small red bow around his neck! Still have some light-up window decorations to put in my bedroom window that faces the street.

There were quite a few neighbors decorating their places today too. One couple down the street did theirs all up with a Grinch theme! I love it! I thought about doing that too. This is the first time I have a place to decorate that has traffic going by. The last house was tucked back in the corner on a dead end street so no one could see any decorations on it anyways. Here I have a steady stream of people walking dogs, riding bikes, driving carts and cars all day long. Having fun with this! My mom would be proud! :D Christmas was her favorite time of year and she always did it up big! Sure miss her this time of year. She made the holidays so fun! :D

I always have the best of intentions... did get some done of what I planned on but looking about inside I see a lot not done... did get my metal flowers outside and the hummingbird up... a shepherd's hook with a metal hummingbird my son gave me a few years ago... so I usually pair it up with the metal flowers.. but noticed the bear is still inside... got the table out thought that I could put the ice chest under it and some how shield it from the sun as the spot it is in right now needs to have something put there so the tree can go up where the stand is now... love how one has to rearrange everything to find room for the Christmas decor... I picked up a tree in WalMart the other day for 38 dollars hope I like it... looked at the oil still full and not overly dirty so didn't change it and checked my battery fluids... and feed the birds.. talked with a friend that isn't coming down again... her husband is turning 93 on Friday had heart problems and COPD so he said this fall gotta stop sometime might as well be now... then the snow hit with 15 inches of snow and he is wishing they were down here... they will be missed...
so that was my day that and a 30 minute nap...
the other night when I got home thought the bed felt dampish and so cold in the spot that is under the vent ... the next day I pulled up the sheets didn't feel wet so put them back down. when I went to bed didn't feel the way it did the night before... thought wonder if the wind blew enough that the vent us open some and it rained in... tonight happen to look at the vent and it was open a bit so now closed up
it's so cold today actually had the buddy running during the day... I hope I don't regret it and run out tonight need to get the bigger tank filled tomorrow... should have today but was lazy and didn't want to make two trips to town... have a meeting at 6:30 so went in early to fill up the gas cans to feed the generator and get batteries to feed the radio.. when the generator is running or in the daytime I plug it in but after I turn off the generator I use the batteries.
went to put up the table to put the cooler under and it's a two person job... can't hold in the buttons and pull out the legs at the same time... will deal with it tomorrow... or the next day... hopefully have it in place when I have to get ice the next time one good thing with it being colder the ice doesn't melt as quickly which is one reason I am ok with it going out side...
