Warm Sunday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Warm Sunday!

Postby BarbaraRose » Sun Nov 17, 2019 2:56 pm

While everyone else is freezing to death across the country, I am sweating here still. Supposed to cool off this week...fingers crossed.

I have my neighbor coming over shortly to help me put my swing together. I have it out of the box and all the parts layed out so should go together fairly quickly. Good thing since the sun is hot already.

My friend Candy just texted me and wants to go putt at the putting course later on, so that will be fun. Luckily, there are a lot of trees around that course so quite a bit of shade. There is a little breeze today too.

Need to get to WM for some Propel water and a couple other things. Yesterday I bought a half an apple pie from Whole Foods which is an all organic, health food store. It is in the same complex where I work. I don't like much of anything there other than their pizza. I figured apple pie is always good. Wrong! This pie has absolutely no flavor! How can they wreck apple pie? Isn't that mostly organic anyways? Glad I only bought a half a pie and it was on sale. I will have to bury it in ice cream.

I might have to take a nap later on my new swing! :)

Have a great day! :D

Very chilly Sunday in Ocala

Postby Irmi » Sun Nov 17, 2019 2:57 pm

Good afternoon ladies!

Breakfast & lunch are both done, but I have a pot of beef stew on and biscuits if any of you want dinner. We were in the low 50's when we got up this morning and won't see above the mid 50's this afternoon. Kind of sad. We may see the sun again tomorrow and possibly 70 degrees. This cold front is the pits, but I have to keep reminding myself that it would be much worse if we were at our home in MD, which is why we winter in Ocala.

We were going to go with friends from church to a state park in Gainesville to do some hiking, but we'll put that off until it warms up again. I haven't seen this campground this quiet since the last rainfall. I guess everyone is doing the same thing we are and staying indoors until it warms up.

Have a good Sunday!

A warm Sunday, a chilly Sunday and a wonderful weather Sunday here... The warm is not so bad with some light clouds and a light breeze. And I'm doing nothing much. Ty's gotten a couple walks but I haven't attempted anything much. I'm getting tired of all the time I spend to get my summer employees. This year, so far, has been the worst. I'm going to put in an ad I have to pay for... Did that one year and quickly got enough people, but then the response can be overwhelming. O.j., enough griping. I just want it done and to think I've got a good crew.

Got the swing together with help from my friends, Dave and Debbie. Definitely not a one person job! But it looks really nice! Too hot to use it today tho. I think we are over 90 again today! :o I want to put a string of lights on it so I can sit out there at night (well, when it gets dark at 5pm  ). My friend and I also canceled the putt putt for this afternoon too because of the heat. Wish I could send some of this heat to those of you freezing in other parts! Hard to believe it is only the middle of November!

Chatted with my next door neighbor for about an hour. She is from Texas and just bought her place a couple months ago. Hard to believe I have been here almost 6 months now!

Was supposed to have tomorrow off from work but one of my coworkers wanted to switch days with me so I will work tomorrow and have Thursday off instead. OK by me.

I feel a nap coming on...

Topped out at 87 at my house today, with no rain at all - not a drop - in the extended prediction on weather.com. In the "old days" the rains would come by late September.

Added to that, there is now a "Fire Watch Weather" alert on weather.gov for Wednesday and Wednesday night. I guess the high winds are coming back, and there is also talk around town that PG&E will again be doing their power shut off deal in selected areas of N. California.

I hope to God we don't have another major fire here. It could happen. The Camp Fire was burning just about this time last year. Things are bone dry there - about as bad as I have ever seen it.

Pray for rain. :|

Barbie before you put the lights up remember bugs are attracted to lights... I hate bugs that are attracted to lights as they want to occupy my space while I am reading get into my hair ugh just don't like them
we have been texting back and forth about our trip to Disneyland I am not a great ride rider few that I enjoy and hate long lines so thinking one day at Disneyland will be enough... just found out that one of my dd's and her family are getting a pass hopper think you can do 3 parks not sure I want to do that but also positive I don't want to say home alone that long either.. dogs are allowed were we will be staying but not on the furniture or beds... hmm that is going to be fun as I don't keep Shadow off the furniture and he sleeps on my bed... wonder if I took a sheet to cover the bed if that would work or is that cheating... occasionally he won't get up on the bed the first night especially at my dd's as the bed is high enough I use a step stool to get on it.. but then he tries and isn't happy till somehow he makes it...
guess we will have to work it out... I wish my sister was at home so I could just leave him there. but she isn't and I am reluctant to ask my nephew that they paid the pet fee ... it was Sunday my Sunday's don't vary much

No bugs around here so far. They spray good for mosquitoes around here due to all the ponds and other standing water in the park.

I laid on the swing for awhile tonight. Found a string of fairy lights to put up under the canopy and that works well. They are solar and have an on/off switch.

Barbie I had to laugh at your description of your organic apple pie! My guess is they didn't use a good crust, put in the traditional seasonings or enough. I like cinnamon, brown sugar and butter in apple pie. I wish we had a Whole Foods store. if I lived near one I would never cook, their deli's to me are the best but the nearest is 100 miles away in St Louis. :( Have you tried their blackened chicken salad or their soups?

I have tried their soups (altho not too motivated to have soup with how hot it is out here!) and didn't care for those either. The only thing I like is their pizza.
