From November to January

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

From November to January

Postby Colliemom » Mon Nov 11, 2019 8:15 am

Good Morning everyone. At least that’s what it feels like here and will be for a lot of us as the cold front pushes south. But fortunately it will be short lived as by latter part of the week, temps will be bit more normal. Some areas to my west and in the U.P, are under Winter Storm Warnings for heavy lake effect snow and a lot of the lower under Winter Weather Advisories. However, here where I am and the surrounding counties, we are not under anything. Might see some light snow. But tomorrow looks like more. I'm glad I took the dogs for a walk in the woods yesterday, as I know those trips are getting numbered.

So today the plan is to work on my scrapbook some more and I know there will be a walk thrown in sometime. Cold or not, we still go. They have dog coats to wear and I am looking for some higher topped dog boots for them.

Sheila, hope you get the fridge fixed soon and help with the generator. Barbie, a small earthquake, wow. Shirlv, hope you find something to get into. Try jigsaw puzzles. Hopefully it will be a long time before I get to where I need to be an apartment dweller. I would miss being out and taking care of a yard. Downsizing to a smaller house and yard worked out for me here. I keep landscaping work to a minimum, of course use a lawn tractor to mow. I think that’s what keeps me moving, doing the stuff around the house. Gives me a purpose. There are days when I think it’s time to ditch all this, but I know I would not enjoy not having my own place. I have a bit over 3 acres here, but majority is wooded. JudyJB, hope you manage to stay warm in this cold snap. See you loaded up on your Michigan goodies :D

Guess I should get my day started here. Have already had breakfast, made my bed, already occupied by Piper  so will get cleaned up, dressed and move along. Have a nice day all. Stay safe if you are on the road, keep warm in the cold.

Mornin' Sue & all that follow~~~

I'm in northeast Texas now and was supposed to be on the road again today, but the cold front is bringing in 40 mph winds, so think I'll hunker down for the day. Guess I'll unhitch and hit WM for groceries.

Stay warm everyone!

I'm warm for now, parked in my son's driveway, but going through a 10 gallon tank of propane each 7-8 days. The really draft area is my cab, so besides the usual privacy curtain which only goes partway down, I have been closing off the cab area by hanging big beach towels so they hit the floor. I have them tucked under my bunk mattress and the spot beside the curtains have pillows stuffed in them. So it looks ratty, but it really helps.

Anyway, if I have to stay here a while, and it gets too cold, I will move into my son's condo. I like my own home best, however. And whenever I want, I can also move into their spare bedroom in the basement. It has a full bathroom and everything except good TV!

Maybe it will get warmer next week??? Like lows in 40s instead of 20s? I can hope, at least.

Just got back from the dentist. What a difference from the last one! They had me in and out in just over an hour, with x-rays, consult with dentist and thorough teeth cleaning! No waiting in between. The dentist says I need a crown for the broken tooth which I knew. The other chipped tooth he said is very small and doesn't need immediate attention (that has been chipped for about 10 years!). He discovered a large cavity under a crown I already have so that needs to be taken care of and replace the crown. He said I should have another crown done on a fragile tooth but that can be done later. So he will just take care of the two crowns for now. The teeth cleaning took just over a half an hour and was very thorough. They said I needed a deep cleaning (and that is after getting the so called cleaning last week! :o ). My teeth are a bit sore but feel so much cleaner! Everyone was so nice and friendly compared to the other place! The cost really isn't going to be a whole lot more than the other place either so I was pleasantly surprised about that. And I will get both crowns completed on the same day.

I woke up with a UTI this morning. I just called a virtual doctor thru my insurance and got a prescription for that. So that was easy!

Judy, maybe you could get a plastic shower liner or two and a tension rod to put up front to block the drafts. Would be better than towels.

Just gonna relax a bit, eat lunch and head to work in awhile. Will stop to pick up my prescription on the way.

My beta fish died yesterday :( . I have had him for a couple years now. If I can find a place to put my larger aquarium, I will get some different fish. I like Tiger Barbs, so maybe a few of those.

So happy I am out here in warm CA! The lows back home are near zero with highs in the teens for the next few days!! That is really early for that kind of cold! Usually don't get those temps until around Christmas! We have been pushing 90* here but cooling off a bit in the low to mid 80's. Very cool at night. Had windows open a bit over night and was chilly in here when I woke up.

Enjoy your day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Judy, I bought a big thick blanket for that area... Got it at a yard sale, so it's not a color I would have picked but works like a charm and makes a world or difference.

Ok, my thought that I could get the fridge through the one door by having the fridge doors open WORKED! It was tight and I should have moved my little washer more, but I got it in. I've emptied the rv fridge into this one and am letting the freezer defrost on its own time. No hair dryer today.

On the other hand the laundry dying pole that came with this place broke on me today. :( Before I trash it, I'll have my neighbors look to see if it's fixable. I highly doubt it. I had my very cheap portable one in my trunk to put on the give away table here. Luckily it hadn't gotten there yet. It's really not good for my sheets, but that's where they are!

Cloudy today so it doesn't feel as warm. Feels great actually.

Barbie, good news about this dentist.

The shower curtain sounded like a good idea, but the blanket area sounds even better. Except that I have an extra quilted blanket that I could use without having to buy anything. And I really don't need a curtain rod, as I could do one of two things:

1) pin the blanket to the existing bunk curtain. This one goes across the top bunk for privacy. Basically, I would just be making it longer.
2) tick the quilted blanket under the bunk mattress, which lifts up fairly easily.

A permanent solution would be to put snaps or buttons on the current bunk curtain and then add snaps or loops to some matching heavy material I have. That would be the neatest looking and easiest to snap in place or take off and store.

Just got back from my colonoscopy. It went well and I was mostly awake but not in any pain. They found two polyps which they removed. I will get the biopsy result in a few days.

Number 2 is what I do.

Glad your colonoscopy is over. It's my intentions to never take one again. We'll see if I'm ever convinced otherwise.

Had a very busy day today. Still packing up the Motorhome to get it packed up so I can clean it and get it up for sale. How in the world did I have so much stuff in it????? I will never know. All cleaned out inside and now just need to empty the bays, not too much in there, I dont think LOL Once everything is out and in storage I will wash the floor and windows, vacuum the carpeting and call it good. Need to vacuum all the dog hair that hides in silly places then it will be ready to sell.

A nurse friend that is working in Yreka CA 45 miles from me, is coming up tomorrow to spend the night and I will take her to the airport in the morning so she can go visit her hubby in Florida. She has an electric car and is leaving it here for the week (plugged in). I have to tell you NOTHING will ever convince me to buy one of these. She is always looking for places to plug it in. She said the dinky hospital in Yreka has 6 charging stations. It can only go about 85 miles before it needs charging again. I told her it was going to be a VERY long drive back to Florida ha ha She informed me she was shipping it back and she was flying. Nope I will keep my gas buggy.

We are having the best weather I think we have ever had since I have lived here. Sunny every day, chilly mornings, warm in the afternoon. BUT we better make up for the rainfall/snowpack pretty darn soon. Being from Oregon I dont usually hope for rain but I dont want a repeat of last years fires so I will be doing a rain dance soon.

Judy, I forgot you have an overhead bunk. Could you use velcro to attach a blanket, etc. to?

Beth, I agree about never having another colonoscopy! One time was one time too many!

Karen, that is a very cute photo of Emma!
