Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday

Morning All, Cold front has moved in so it’s 48°and cloudy. Apartment living is boring so far, no leaves to rake or flower beds to clean. I suggested to my friend, Edith, that we take up bird watching. She said “ I am not sitting outside in the dead of winter looking for birds. If they have any sense they will fly south so think of something else.” My favorite store use to be Lowe’s but that’s no fun since I don’t improve anymore. Life is a challenge so I will keep thinking. Be well and safe travels.

It's sunny and 71 in my part of northern CA. I'm getting ready to head to church. Today is a day where the children of our congregation put on the majority of the service with their sweet messages and voices. Looking forward to it. Was going to cemetery tomorrow but when I realized the volume of freeway traffic being Veterans Day with crowd at cemetery as well as holiday crowds on freeway, I decided we will go another day.
Shirl, have you considered an indoor garden? Lots of options available.
Have a good day everyone.

Shirlv, your friend Edith might like this blog, and even the book. It is a sort of field guide to birds, but obviously written by someone who does not like birds and thinks they are dumb. Enjoy - https://dumbbirdsfieldguide.tumblr.com/ If you scroll down, you will see a lot of the pages from this book, which started out as a blog.

At my son's house in Ohio now. Going to be cold tonight but not below freezing until Tuesday night. I have made sure my utility area has all the open areas like where the sewer hose goes to the outside, sealed with rags and other materials, so the ducted furnace heat will stay inside.

Saw my son's condo at Sandusky that he and his wife just bought. It is very nice and I could stay there for a while if my tests turn out negative, but I really an anxious to get to Florida.

Shirl, do you have a balcony you can put containers out on? There are lots of arts and crafts projects you could do as well. You could build little fairy gardens in containers and sell them. If you know someone with a yard, maybe they would let you putter around some.

I am disappointed that the pastor candidate we saw on Wednesday evening has decided that our church is not a good fit for him. I think everyone was stunned by the news this morning. So I guess the other guy will be our new pastor when ours leaves for retirement. I did like him but this guy was so much more energetic.

Another fairly warm day so just turned on the AC for a bit since I will be busy around here shortly. Need to eat lunch first tho.

Have a good day! :D

Off to walk in the woods today. A place my dogs and I love to go. The snow is a few inches deep, but easily walkable. The landscape is a mix of white snow, newly fallen oak leaves scattered all over, bare trees, tall pines and snow laden spruce. I look up at the leaden gray sky, soon to shed snow. I feel the bite of the incoming cold front on my cheeks. I am dressed warm. I feel exhilarated. I breathe in the fresh cold air. I laugh at the antics of my dogs as they chase each other through the snow, growling and yapping. Then smile as they sniff out the smorgasbord of smells known only to them. I see the two small ponds have iced over. I come across a set of deer tracks and later a set of turkey tracks. There are tracks of various other critters scattered around as well. I stop and survey my surroundings, the cares of the world seem far away and I give thanks to my creator for this day. One the way home we are tired, my cheeks are rosey from the cold, a warm house and hot cocoa await. I walk these woods to find peace, to find mystery, to find contentment, to find joy, to find my soul.

And this my friends is all I’m saying on this Sunday afternoon. Hope your day is as enjoyable as mine.

I do have a pretty balcony garden with herbs, a large pot of flowers with a solar mushroom and a bistro set. It does not require as much care as the acre I took care of in the past. I am not complaining, it was time for me to move on. My mind wants the stimulation but my body says “&#*% NO” I will adjust but not this week. Lol. Edith doesn’t hate birds but she does hate the cold. All 5ft. 90 lbs of her. Thanks for the suggestions I will work on it.

Sue, that was beautiful!!!! Were you a writer in a previous life? Thanks for sharing your prose with us today. Absolutley delightful!

Shirl, I felt a little lost too when I move to an apartment & then my condo after tending to a house for so many years. Now I delight in Tuesdays when the gardeners are here & I can smell the freshly cut grass without tending to it myself. I do have a small patio area where I can try to grow flowers or just be outside.
Velda, I love the services that involve the children. In KS, they did a bi-lingual service for First Communion which brought the entire congregation together- probably the most moving service ever!

Not much happening here. Just another beautful day in sunny CA. Olivia has been a little sick lately so she's visiting me for a while for a change of pace. Her whole world will change shortly when little brother is born. She's very excited about him, but reality is sometimes different than what has been imagined.
I'd better get my place picked up before they come to get her.

Take care out here,

I got back from my campout this afternoon. I must have been in denial about cold weather when I was packing. I only brought one long sleeve shirt. Friday it was over cast and misting a little. The sun never did come out so it was cold. I had on 3 jackets and ask someone going to Walmart to get me some legging. I wouldn't be caught dead out in legging but wore them under my jeans. The sun came out on Saturday so it warmed up and today it was nice again. Yesterday was the football game between LSU and Alabama so the whole campground was watching the game. Every time LSU would score you could hear the whole campground yell. Good thing they won or it would have been a sad campground.

Last Tuesday and Wednesday i was feeling good so thought about cancelling my doctors appointment tomorrow. Good thing I didn't because my sciatica came back with a vengeance. My left hip quit hurting and it went into my right hip. By today I wasn't sure I was going to able to unhook and dump my tanks. When I got home I had to find one of Harold canes to walk with. I managed to unload the refrigerator but everything else is going to have to wait until I can walk.

It does sound like you need to go to the dr. Martha...
Velda would have enjoyed our branch here is so old we don't have any children do miss their program...
after church went over to a friends and fixed us lunch had ham steak baked potato and beans and a fruit salad she made for the luau was a nice meal. when I got the potato picked up bakers with the intent to get two they were so huge that decided one would suffice and we would share... which we did just the right amount although truth is I would have forced myself to eat the whole thing if not sharing so it was a really good idea...
came home normal nap.. been so cloudy today that the batteries didn't charge up as well so turned the generator on early hopefully will be fully charged by 10 or so
today is my husbands birthday would need to figure out how old he would be 81. sure wish he was here although we wouldn't have done anything overly special... would have fixed him whatever he wanted depending either hamburger or salmon patties and cake and dip... and he would have watched whatever football game that was on after we got back from church..lol
tomorrow going to walmart see what they have in ice chests...

Wasn't too ambitious today. Took a ride on my golf cart to the dumpster and then to deliver a wooden flag wall hanging to my real estate agent. It was left by the previous owner in the shed and when my agent was showing me the house and shed she had asked if she could have it if I didn't want it. Had to wait all summer til she came back from Washington to give it to her. She was happy to have it in time for Veterans Day.

We had two earthquakes today centered just 6 miles north of me! Luckily, nothing too big. The first one was a 3.5 just after 2pm. I just felt a quick jolt. The second one was a 3.0 about an hour later which I didn't feel and didn't know about until reading about it this evening.

Been reading about how to clean stains on my microfiber love seats, so I can sell them. Watched You Tube videos. Some suggest Windex or rubbing alcohol or Woolite. A couple recommended a window cleaner called Method glass cleaner that is more natural so I am going to try that. Can't handle bleach or ammonia, so hopefully that will work good. There are only a few small stains here and there so hopefully they will come out easily. The top of the back of one of them is a bit faded from being in front of a sunny window in my old house. Not sure if there is anything that can be done about that tho.

Tomorrow will be off to the new dentist first thing in the morning. Then to work in the afternoon. We will be busy with giving free haircuts to veterans tomorrow.

Just sort of watching the Vikings football now. They have been going back and forth with the lead throughout the game with the Cowboys. Off to bed early again tonight. Went to bed at 9:30 last night and slept til 7:30 this morning!
