Wet, Windy Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wet, Windy Tuesday

Guess y’all are busy today as it’s afternoon here in tbe east and no coffee on yet :D I was up at o’dark thirty but had a dentist appt., so no time for posting. Had a cavity forming under a crown so had to get that taken care of. Have temp cap on now till middle of next month. Then go back for replacement crown. Needless to say, my checkbook is not happy :(

Not much else going on right now. Too windy and wet outside to blow leaves, so monkeying around inside. Stripped my bed, load of wash in dryer. Should give my bathroom a cleaning. Wanted to finish servicing my lawn tractor and put it away for winter, but will do that on a nicer day.

Barbie, I think that color that’s on your number and the lizard, would look nice on your house and window trim both. Nice pictures of your place.

Judy, hope your energy picked up a bit with an extra layover day. Probably a blessing in disguise as it’s very windy here in the Great Lakes Area. There’s been lot of problems here in MI due to the high water levels and the fall storms causing tremendous waves along the shorelines. Beaches, docks, sand dunes, roads along shorelines etc., are being washed away, broken up or flooded and homes in jeopardy of same. Cities and towns are being flooded due to rivers backing up and overflowing cause they have no place to go. Waves have been as high as 14 feet coming into shore. And with winter coming, no end is in sight.

Guess I will get busy here. Have a nice day everyone.

Good afternoon, Sue. Ty and I walked down to the dammed Rio Grande but there's still too much water for him. He's not a water dog, loves when there's a lot of the sandy bottom to play in. Plus there was a work crew down there so I wasn't going to let him off leash anyway. Nice walk though.

Beautiful day here.

The not low enough yet "river".

Afternoon to Sue and Beth and all to follow, if any! Northern FL has been rainy and therefore very humid. Sue sorry you guys are having such big problems up there with the waves and other water issues. We have been wanting rain alll summer and so far this fall. Beth you guys have been really cool out there in the NM mountainous plains.

I have been refinishing my dining room table and the humidity makes it really difficult! I have never had any chairs for the table, just used WalMart card table chairs. Couldn’t find good solid wood without paying both arms and legs for them. However, my luck changed and I have been able to pick up some nice mis-matched solid wood chairs with nice cane bottoms. Well two have nice can bottoms. The other two have can bottoms but someone put stain or paint on something on them. Not sure how to get them back to ‘natural’ without ruining them. If anyone knows, I’d appreciate the information.

Well, the fun thing I have been doing is unpacking! Every day, every box is another surprise. I have to get these boxes unpacked and stuff put away so I can get the storage area insulated by Thanksgiving. That is when we are putting up the bead board for the walls. I am really excited about that too. However the boxes take priority. They have to be emptied so they can be moved out to the FL room. I hope today is the last day of ‘clothing boxes’. Gracious sakes alive. Really 18 pair of blue jean that doesn’t count the 4 pair already in the closet. The khaki’s aren’t in that count either! But the ‘good clothes’ I used to work in that I kept is only 4 pair of slacks, 2 skirts and 3 jackets and one dress. I have found so much stuff. Some friends are getting excited and looking forward to boxes in the mail.

Planted a Porter Weed in the yard Sunday afternoon. It has pretty red flowers. Hopefully it will root well enough that after the winter small death it will come back next spring. I have two passion vines for the butterflies that are near the bottom of two pine trees and I have a piece of trellis vine wire for one to climb up on. Something gobbled up my two Gulf Frits who were trying to eat up really quick to incubate. Will be working on the climbing rose this week. Landscaper will be here next week to get the fall area ready for things to be planted. He will be moving stuff around and pulling other things out.

Going hiking with some friends on Thursday. And then a kayaking/camping trip on Sunday for 3-4 days. Looking kinda like it might rain, but then forecast is ‘best guess’! Those on the road, have fun and be safe. If you are at home keep dry and warm and have fun and be safe. Off to the dryer - again!

It was a difficult drive but I am within a day of my son's house right now. Am in Elkhart, IN, and have only about 200 miles to drive tomorrow.

Next time I do this, I am going to give myself more time. This time, I could not leave until after my cat scan and potential bone marrow biopsy on October 9th, and I have an internist appointment on Thursday, day after tomorrow. I also have an appointment on Friday to get my refrigerator fixed so it runs on propane as well as electric. Of course, I made all these plans without knowing that I would come down with the shingles!!! Guess I have to leave more room for contingencies. I did take three days off while driving, but it was not enough with my pain and just plain not feeling well.

I've been taking a half of a Vicodin in the morning before driving and then nothing else until I arrive, so just dosed myself up so I can get work done and sleep well tonight. Doctor in Eugene gave me Dilaudid, which I have never taken before, but it really does not help me at all. So will need a refill on vicodin on Thursday and maybe something better for nerve pain. (I always keep a good supply of Vicodin for potential kidney stones, and doctors are always willing to give them to me, based on my history, but I have pretty much exhausted my emergency supply right now.)

It was an extremely windy and cold drive through Illinois and Indiana, by the way. Most times I try to skip driving in such conditions, but could not today. Anyway, good to be almost back to home.

Birdie, why not take the two chairs with stained cane bottoms and just add on a cushion over the damage? Could make it a thin cushion and then staple it onto the wood so it looks like it was always that way. You will then have four chairs and can place the matching ones across from one another!

been busy today but still haven't accomplished all that I should have done.
but some of the to do stuff is done.
went and got my shepherd's hook looks really good straighten it up straighten up the bar part and reattached it and sharpened the poles so they hopefully will go into the ground easier... then told me in order to get mine I had to take another one as well... can't complain at all... and it only cost 20 dollars I talked to a place in Jackson a couple years ago (before it came apart even) to get it strengthen and it was going to cost around 75 if I recall correctly... so didn't do it..
need to look at the weather plan on leaving on Friday but the winds are really bad tonight so am hoping they aren't sticking around... really need to get on the way south..
Birdie you might ask Sarah see if she has some idea's about the chair

Nothing too exciting today. Was very busy at work finally, which is good. Switched shifts with a co-worker so I took the morning shift. Found out tonight why he wanted to switch. There was a big LGBT gathering in Palm Springs this morning and I saw him on the news tonight that was covering the event from this morning. He is very involved in the whole LGBT community out here and in San Diego and runs the Pride events in both cities.

It was hot again today. 99* which is 10* above normal for this time of year. Will be in the low to mid 80's by the weekend and into next week tho, so relief is in sight! At least the nights have been cool! The Santa Anna winds will be coming in on Thursday bringing cooler air with it. However, they also bring the threat of fires too.

Stopped at a nursery after work to look at plants. Places like WM, Home Depot and Lowe's don't carry much in the way of garden plants this time of year which is odd since this is the peak planting season for this area. This nursery is huge and has a lot of plants of all kinds. I want to do container plants with tomatoes and strawberries. This place is not cheap but I only need one or two of each plant. Will do some flower pots as well as a container water garden and a little faerie garden and maybe one container with a mini Japanese garden. Gotta keep everything around here small since space is at a premium!

Needed to go to WM tonight too but didn't feel real good (intestinal issues) so will go in the morning before I go to work. Need kitty litter desperately!

Off to bed now. Have a good night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
