Where's Janice?

Postby Getupngo » Mon May 25, 2009 11:04 pm

Well, Janice is at home for a couple of days. Rig is going to the RV doc ...
they'll assess my problems, order parts, and I'll schedule a date for all the
work to be done. We had a honkin' rain storm and I found out my roof
STILL leaks.

Well, I've been broken in up at the state park. I've already made a trip to the
emergency room with a cut leg (no stitches, thank you!) for steri-strips and a
tetanus shot. Stupid is as stupid does.

I'll stay in town an extra day to get stuff done around the house. Life is good.

Oh dear, Janice----so sorry about your tough times! Do I dare ask how you got the cut on your leg? Maybe trying to get on the roof?? Good that no stitches needed, and also good to have tetanus vaccine updated. Bad that you got hurt! I sure do hope they can fix your roof once and for all, too. Keep us posted....we will be thinking of you.

The RV doc trip was a diagnostic ... they said (in regard to ordering parts) that Holiday Rambler is in the midst of a "restructuring (gulp!)." He'll let me know when the parts come in and we'll schedule the repairs. I'm apparently very lucky, the big slide closed (complaining all the way) for me at Jordanelle when I was getting ready to take it to the shop. When I got to the repair shop, the slide refused to extend.

For those inquiring minds ... I got hurt after cleaning out a fire ring. You know how people like to throw their bottles in the flames to watch them shatter? I fished glass out of the fire ring & tossed it in an overfilled plastic bag. When I hefted the too-heavy bag, it swung and protruding glass sliced my calf. Yes, I've learned my lesson.

Took Bandit to the vet today ... and then on to PetCo to buy him diapers. (sniff!)

Gosh, Janice, I sure hope things start looking brighter for you soon. I have been reading letters from disgruntled folks in Trailer Life mag. Seems all the RV industry is having a tough go of it and even people with brand new rigs are having problems getting repairs as RV companies are folding or getting bought out. Hope yours is a quick fix.
Sorry about your cut leg. Not fun. Hope it heals quickly for you. Take care!

Yupper Janice,.. I've done that piece of glass in the garbage bag thing too. Now I find a cardboard box or something to put it into,... fold it into newspaper, ... something to shield it. Hope you heal up with no problem.

You can read all the articles about how hard the RV dealerships have been hit, but it really hit home for me when I got here and the dealership where I bought the Beach House, has closed down. The only dealership in town too.

I'M SO STOKED!! For the first time I have an Internet signal in the park!!

Okay, some of you may recall my slide "deployed" on a freeway ramp a year or so ago. My son says a gear was chipped. I think the motor may also be on its last legs. Here's hoping we can get parts.

I have a new system for picking up broken glass. It goes in a metal bucket. Period. Everything else can go in a bag.

The water is rising fast here ... the reservoir has come about 30 feet higher on the shore where I am. I'm told the lake is rising about 10 - 12 inches a day. It's beautiful.

Took Bandit to the vet when I was in town. He was again unable to control his bladder. He lost control twice while riding in the rig back up to the reservoir. We started him on antibiotics again, and he's leak-free right now. (Thank God!) I'm so happy it's something we've been able to treat. He's such a sweet boy.

HOpe things continue to go okay with Bandit, cleaning up after the messy folks and your rig. It is amazing how fast glass can cut - seems like it doesn't even have to really touch you.
We're one of the "lucky?" ones whoes builder ALFA has gone out of business. Keeping our fingers crossed. At least we got the five years out of the warrenty before they went belly up.
How high up is that lake going to rise? Not to the campground I hope.

Janice, just got a letter from Monaco (who owns HR) that they have filed for bankruptcy and that they have not only closed their factories, but have also closed their parts warehouse. I read in the Good Sam magazine that Monaco owners have started a web site that lists parts that are not made by Monaco themselves and who the manufacturers are. OK, so just went to look for it and it's not there, so now can't remember where I read it...will continue to look for it. Although I would imagine that your coach was made before Monaco bought HR. Anyway, good luck with repairs on your baby and hopefully your repair guy is smart enough to look for parts outside of Monaco.
