Wake up and explore your Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Chilly Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Oct 12, 2019 7:00 am

Good Morning all. Just checking in to say hi. Nothing much going on in my world right now. Usual running to town for this or that, appts.etc., working out around the house, putting things away for winter, washed the windows on the outside, installed new dryer vent cover, cleaning up leaves now and then etc. and enjoying walking in the fall color, plus a beautiful day trip to Taquahmenon Falls. Fall color is taking it’s sweet time. We are coming off a beautiful week of sunshine and mild temps and now a cold front, same one that just dumped all the snow out in the plains. Won’t be seeing any of that here though. Maybe a mix of rain/snow once in a while. Wondering how Pat is doing out there in SD. Beth, I’m sure you are enjoying watching it from afar.

Heading to Charlevoix for the annual Apple Festival with a friend. We are just going to bundle up and go. So will a lot of people. It’s a popular thing with all the regional Apple growers there, all kinds of goodies, cider, chili, food vendors, tons of apples and a huge craft show spread out along the waterfront and two parks. This year about 165 vendors expected.

Lyn, glad to hear no heart issues and hope they get down to the bottom of the lung issues. Judy, hope you are feeling better. I have had the chickenpox, am hoping the zoster virus stays dormant. Hasn’t been any talk of shingles or vaccine around up here that I am aware of. Sad to see fires in CA again. Was hoping they would have had a break this year.

Enough jabbering here. Going to wish you all a nice day and start getting my act together :D

Wake up and explore your Saturday

Postby BirdbyBird » Sat Oct 12, 2019 7:02 am

Come on you guys you are hours ahead of me. Or maybe you are already busy out exploring. I just finished a steam train ride near the Cairngorm Mountains. Short but nice and I didn’t have to watch where I was driving. Have stopped for some Fish and Chips. I may not get anymore but I think visiting the UK requires one purchase.

Sue, shingles cares not where you live. The old vaccine wasn't very effective. The new one is and you should consider it.

Still morning here in New Mexico so I'm sneaking in on time... Lol

Took a ride yesterday and have to get used to all the bells and whistles on my car. I might learn to use them. Someday. I do like it telling me my mileage. I averaged 45 mpg off my jaunt. Higher than I expected. I love it. I know I was told to expect 37 mpg overall. I guess I drove just right yesterday.

Beautiful, sunshiny day. I'm moving to an electric site for a few days starting tomorrow. Why? Just because I can lol.

Tina, yes, I'd have to get fish and chips there once, too.

Good Morning - yes it still is in Washington State -

I had the first shingles shot years ago - even if it wasn't all that effective, I didn't get shingles. I got the new one (actually 2) - there was a waiting list for the 2nd one last year. Shots were free at the pharmacy with Medicare. Carol (Carolinagal) had to have cataract removal postponed and spend an unexpected summer in Florida. Snowbird friend told her doctor she'd wait until the next summer - she had a horrible case including near her eye. 20 something young man got them - also in his eye and is having a heck of time. Cut a trip short with my aunt with a trip to ER in Branson several years ago when she had them. Not a gamble I'd be willing to take.

My granddaughter had to go back into surgery for blood clot and infection. Poor kid, but hopefully she can just heal now! Last count was 37 children's hats knit in 3 weeks. Even on hefty pain killer, she had a sense of humor with the surgeon. I think she's at 6 weeks in the hospital with hopefully only a few more days to go.

Weather is colder than normal here in Eastern Washington - like so many places. I'll be heading to Seattle area Wednesday or whenever they finish a repair on the camper. BFF and I fly out of Seattle the 27th for European cruise.

Beth, I hope your onboard MPG is more accurate than mine! Tina, yes to fish and chips!

Just past noon here. Still laying in bed but been on my laptop since about 10:30. Didn't get to sleep until almost 3am.

Haven't checked to see how bad the snowstorm has been across the north and midwest. My friends in MN say they only got a dusting there so that is good.

I didn't turn my AC on all day yesterday and still have the windows open today. Need to get up and start working on the outside of the house and front yard. Clean it up and hose it down and then put my outdoor furniture back where it belongs. Need to wash off my golf cart too. It is covered in dust/dirt. I ordered a cover for it and got that yesterday so that will keep it cleaner while it sits in limbo for now.

Plan to make sloppy joe's today too. Haven't had those in a long time. :D

Was still really sore yesterday from working out the other day at PF. I stopped there last night after work to lay on the hydro massage bed but they were all being used so I tried the regular massage chair. Didn't care much for that since it uses hard rollers, etc, to massage your back and I have a very boney back so it kind of hurt going back and forth, even tho it was on the softest setting. Will skip that machine for now. The hydro massage is strong but forgiving. Did feel better tho once I got home. The circuit training machines must be a lot more effective at this place since I never had sore muscles from working out at Curves.

Anita, have fun on your cruise!

Enjoy your day! :D

I am camped for the night in the Boise, ID, Camping World. I started having problems with my refrigerator check light coming on all day yesterday, and it finally just quit working in late afternoon, but too late to go anywhere to get it fixed. Mostly, I just kept the freezer and refrigerator doors closed all night. Had a rough night's sleep for some reason. Mostly, I have had pain-free nights, but last night I ended up with serious pain when I woke up at about 8 am. Took pain meds and back to bed for another hour, but still pain, so got up and drove to Camping World. I just did not know where else to go, and when I called, the service rep said they would try to squeeze me in.

I left Bully Reservoir around 10 am and made it here shortly after noon. The service rep said he had once been a mechanic so he grabbed a couple of screw drivers and some parts and worked on my refrigerator in the parking lot. Good news is that they got it working with electric, but it also needed a part for the gas intake, so it will not work on propane for now. I have the part number and will try to order it, but in the meantime, at least the refrigerator works, and I will just have to have electric sites until then. PLUS, they did not charge me for labor, just putting in the part, and then they offered me a spot in their hookup area!! So, here I am! And this will give the freezer a chance to get cold again. Everything is still frozen, though not frozen really hard, if you know what I mean. Luckily, the last couple of nights have been below freezing. I have just barely enough water for tonight, so it will be a very short shower.

So, back to grading papers. Will get to bed very early tonight.
