Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday

Good Morning All, out of town yesterday so checking in today. Visited my childhood friend, Edith. Still trying to make this apartment Shirl’s Pad. Decided to line the top of kitchen cabinets with colorful teapots. So Edith and Shirl, two gray haired, wrinkled, very senior citizens haunted thrift stores looking for teapots. Edith gets very excited when I mention the Goodwill store. :D In this fast moving tech world it is so much fun to spend the day with someone who remembers when.
Tina, excited for you, safe travels.

Another WetWednesdsy

Postby Colliemom » Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:04 am

Morning everybody.another wet day on tap today, although more showery than steady rain. But tomorrow it’s back to that. Seems likely me it’s been rainy forever, but we have had some nice days in the past month. We are chasing the 2017 Seasonal precipitation record right now. 32.55 inches as of Sept. 30th. 2017 was 33.62 for same date. Will be interesting to see how much it will be when the season ends. Getting colder too, but not like where you are Beth. Those days are coming though.

Fall color is starting to pop but about 2 weeks to peak. Course that depends on where, higher elevations turn earlier than those along the lake shore. Going to be time for “leaf peeping” season for sure. Looking like might be good this year.

Nothing much new here. Same old. But did have eye appt. with specialist yesterday cause my left eye keeps filming over on and off. Decided it is dry eye, so on drops now. But also found out my cataract implant from years ago has scar tissue starting to form around it again. They call it a secondary cataract. Was lasered once before and at moment, no treatment options available. Says if he tries surgery to remove the tissue and the lens, which is wobbly, falls backwards, it will blind me in that eye. Nope, not doing that and neither is he. But down the road new techniques might be available. Not causing me any problems now anyway, so will see him once a year now and just use the drops. Fun getting old, huh.

Off to get my day moving here. Breakfast dishes waiting and need to run vac. Going to visit a friend later on today. Need to get the fur kids potties first. Hope you all have a nice day. Safe travels south Beth.

Hello Ladies!

I read here fairly regularly but on a tablet which I do not type on. By the time I get to the laptop, I've lost my thoughts.

Catherine's post brought back a great memory. When my daughter was expecting, my granddaughter (5 yo) insisted the baby's name would be 'Flower'!

Excited for Tina and her trip! I'm going on a European cruise with my best friend of 61 years. We fly to Barcelona Oct. 27. Shirl, I know what you mean about those who 'remember when'.

Lyn, sorry about the health issues, but so happy you went to the doctor! I saw yesterday a man in Florida is in trouble for cutting the brake lines on electric scooters.

Beth, I'm sure you'll be glad to head to warmer temps! I'm in Eastern Washington where temps are below average. Not really fun but I am less than 3 miles from my daughter's new to her (and boyfriend) house on the river.

Have enjoyed travel reports from those of you getting out. Will look forward to reports from the Pow Wow!

I've had a lot of bumps in the road the last 6 weeks that have played havoc with my nerves. Those of you who follow me on FB know some of it. My 20 yo granddaughter has been in the hospital over a month due to her Crohn's disease. The hospital is in Kansas City - 2 1/2 hours from home. She built up so many antibodies to all the usual meds they tried some that take months to kick in. Personally I think they let it go too long. They got her on the right track for healing but soft food trials didn't go well. She is having her colon removed today. While in the hospital she has been knitting children's hats to donate to the hospital. Today she started an art challenge while waiting to go into surgery. She is one strong young lady.

So sorry Anita, to hear about your granddaughter. That must be so hard on the family too. She sounds very strong and determined tho. And what a great attitude! I hope she gets better soon and can go back home soon.

Where are you headed for the winter?
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Afternoon everyone. I locked the door on the store for the final time this season about half an hour ago after starting my final day there at 7 am). Whew. Then Ty and I walked in the cold drizzle. My rv is a wreck... Probably will only take about half an hour to get it in travel mode, but I'm out of energy at the moment.

Anita, your granddaughter is in my thoughts every day. I've always hoped she'd get into some type of remission with the various treatments. I love her attitude and how she's using her time.

The sun is supposed to be out tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Surrounding your granddaughter in my prayers, Anita.
Olivia is 4 so 4-5 must be the age when kids decide they should name their sibling. Its incredible how their minds work. She isn't big on naming her baby dolls or stuffed toys, but feels she has every right to name her baby brother.
A cruise in Europe sounds like fun - especially with a friend - enjoy!
Shirl, loved the image you painted

- what fun!

Went to get my Real-ID today at the DMV. When I went there for my driver's license a couple of years ago, I was in & out in about 1/2 hour. Today - it took 1.5 hours - just getting in the door took about 15 minutes - even with an appointment. At least that's done. Wonder where I'll be when it expires.

Thank you all. Keep in mind that at 14 when Sophie went for her first colonoscopy, when she woke she asked the recovery nurse 'is it this, this or this?' Can't remember what all three of the possibilities were.

I'm just going to copy my daughter's FB post here.

As much as she improved with all of the medications over the past few weeks (no more pain!) they found a bad spot of Crohn's damage towards the end of her small intestine they didn’t see on the MRI. So that and her whole large intestine had to come out.
The surgeon also saw the other complications Sophie had told him about, not wanting an internal “pouch” someday, because it wouldn’t work for her. They’re going to let her heal for a few months, then he’ll see what repair work he can do to save her from using ostomy bags forever.
She deserves to say “I told you so” to all the doctors now. The GI attending doctor this morning admitted that they can learn from Sophie, an older patient who knows her health, has researched her options, and has an educated opinion on her treatment (even if she doesn’t get what she wants in the end.)
The surgeon got the message too.
So good on Sophie for that.

Anita your 20 yr. old granddaughter is well beyond her years and such a giving
young lady! Good on her. Sounds like she sure could teach the doctors a thing
or two.

she seems to have a remarkable spirit and am sure that this might slow her down but won't stop her just a new normal.
I think that there must be a class that is required for drs to take titled something like how to ignore patients   most of them seem really adept at it...
it was a do nothing day I freely admit it... lazed in bed took a shower and did nothing to speak of... although I did pull out my swedish weave to try counting the rows to find the center... I started awhile ago at mom's and proceeded to do it wrong as I mentally thought about it so undid what I'd done and started over...(I hadn't done any of the weaving) just markers so that I could get it counted without loosing my place... now to do the width had actually started but then put a needle in the wrong spot so needed to restart but it was time to go up to the house... sil is putting in flooring since the weather is too bad to work outside and the siding hadn't come anyway... so up with the carpet and down with the pergo type stuff.. most of the area that he had gotten the carpet out is down think he will finish tonight then tomorrow the upper part/hall. it's a sunken room think that is the term...
was going to go to mom's tomorrow but my dd suggested Friday would be better for her so that is what I will do although I will admit that I have to change things around had I known would have defrosted fridge today so I could replace it all tomorrow but guess I can do that Friday night or Monday or Weds depending upon when I go over next week. Typically I take what needs to be out turn it off and leave it open let it defrost naturally then then it on over night and the next day put stuff back. won't work if I plan on going over to mom's for the day... but it will get done
it's been a cold day need to figure out when I am leaving and work on getting done what needs to be done... it's not just the putting stuff away that needs to be but other things that I've needed to do and haven't had a list in my head but now it's escaping me guess they were that important one usually is getting my hair cut like a guy in IF but it might not work out this fall guess the other things will resurface and when they do I need to write them down
you all have a good day tomorrow those out and about drive safely

Anita, I foolishly thought years ago when you raised your children that the stress, anxiety and heartaches would end. We aren’t built that way. I feel your pain. ((Hugs))) Your Granddaughter has a positive attitude and that is a bushel. Hang in there.
