Saturday and a new-to-me Car

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Saturday and a new-to-me Car

Postby Bethers » Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:36 pm

Happy Saturday. It is a wet, rainy, chilly Saturday and I headed into Rapid City this morning to pick up the 2016 Ford Focus I purchased and immediately had taken to a shop to get it the necessary base plate for towing. They promised me it would be done on the first, but got to it sooner so I headed over. One booboo... The connection straight from Blue Ox didn't fit my existing connector (also from Blue Ox). But these guys changed the end and I was good to go. The weather really want conducive to taking pictures, or seeing this up lol, but I'm back in Keystone and they let me take a pull through so I can keep hooked up until leaving this coming week.

Here's a bad pic, through the shops windows even lol. I was already soaked but didn't want to go back out for a better picture.

my plans were to be car-less until after I quit working here summers, but plans are all in jello, right?

Hope some of you have better weather today! Off I'm headed to do ending work at the store now.

Happy day!

It's a drizzly, windy 50 degrees here at Wanapum Campground along the Columbia River north of Yakima and no one at all is outside sitting around their RVs. Wonder why? It dropped down to 44 degrees last night, and I have my electric heater going, along with both front and rear furnaces! Brrrrr!! I have to take the trash out, but am trying to figure out when because it seems to be a long walk. More brrrrr.

Otherwise, this is a very nice place with good views of the hills and the river. And I have a full hookup site, so I can flush my black tank tomorrow. Other problem is my shower drain is draining VERY slowly. I tried one of those hook things, but could not break up the clog or bring up anything on the hooks. However, I poured in a teakettle of boiling water the other night and that did help. I will pick up some drain cleaner on my way south on Monday. I can still take a shower, but have to be careful not to take a very long one to give it time to drain. Kitchen sink and bathroom sink are doing fine.

So, since I won't have any grading to do until Tuesday, I am going to do some reading for pleasure today. I made a beef roast with onion soup and have a nice container of shredded roast beef to put on those small dinner rolls--yum! I really like cooking in larger batches so I have lots of leftovers to freeze.

Hope the weather has gotten better for everyone.

Cute car Beth! Hope you have lots of fun with it! I can imagine how inconvenient it would be without one.

I went over to see Roxy, my trailer today. Took pics and measurements inside for some things I want to get for her. My new shower curtain is a little long so will have to hem that up a bit. The theme inside is rustic woodsy. :D Unwrapped the foam bed topper to let that expand for the day so I can make up the bed later. Opened the windows to air her out a bit. Will go back later on to close her back up. It is windy today so should air out quickly (the mattress topper has a smell to it too that I want to get rid of).

Not getting much done around the house today. For some reason after a day of working around here, I have no ambition the next day to do more. Well, there is always tomorrow... I do need to take out the trash yet today tho.

Was so nice and breezy last night! Turned off the AC and opened all the windows and had that wonderful breeze blowing over me all night ! Ahhh! :)
Very windy today too which helps it feel cooler out. Mid 80's so much better than it has been!

Tomorrow is an ice cream social at the clubhouse. Can't miss that! Will go to church in the morning. Need to get there early since they have a guest speaker and singer who was one of Madonna's back-up singers for many years. Will be crowded for that.

Have a good afternoon! :D

Nice find, Beth. I figure part of getting a car now is when the "good deal" pops up even when you might have been planning to wait. Cars with the right qualities and low enough mileage to want you to invest in adding the base plates, etc don't always show up on cue. Adventure on.

So sad about the little goat! I hope the other one is safe from the fence! :o

Went to WM to pick up a few things for home and the trailer and got back to the trailer just before it got dark out to put them inside and get the windows closed.

Wind has calmed down now but I have the windows at home opened up and have nice cool air coming in now. Will be another comfortable night! :D

We had a cloudy Saturday and around 5 it began to thunder and flash! Was in my room getting something off the headboard bookcase when a really good rolling one came through that actually rattled the mirror of headboard! West Sacramento got hail and some flash street flooding and Davis area had a tornado warning! By 6 it was raining here and lasted nearly an hour as it tapered off.
Finally, after fighting the DFAS who issue Navy pay, I got Mel's final check but more important, I got the long awaited 1099R! Put those last numbers in and e-filed both at last! Small reward of tiny refund each, but the big reward was that's that, done with paperwork for Mel! Well except taking his name off cars, which can wait. Now if only he would stop getting so much junk mail!
Now to start putting stuff in van for the PowWow!

Mind you this is 7 years later... we have a loan on the 5h wheel and after Larry passed away sent a death certificate to the company no nothing thought we had a insurance on it so that in the event of his death the 5th wheel was paid for after looking for the papers talking to them at the bank and even going to where we bought the 5th wheel at and being informed that they never offer that (I remember talking to them and being told yes it could be done) gave up still paying have about another ohhh maybe 18 months give or take May I think of 2021 anyway I needed to put in a change of address as I've not been getting statements so I called (they can't do it at the bank because it is a whatever the term is for mail forwarding address) so I put in my SS as required over the phone it's not recognized. my guess is that nothing was changed and they want Larry's SS which I don't remember or the account number so I need to find an old statement to get that information or find an old old Tax statement with both Larry's and my SS on it... even when you think it's all done sometimes it isn't

Sheila, I own all vehicles and house free and clear and they and all bank accounts were set up so either of us could handle as needed (or instead of and). It's taken a while but it's all taken care of. Almost everything was in our family trust already so that left only vehicles to remove names. And being a military wife, I definitely know his SS plus mine, and boh kids! I was pretty well organized because I planned ahead well.

I think it makes a difference if you have time to take care of things ahead of time versus when there is a sudden and unexpected passing. I had most of my mom's funeral arrangements and her casket already bought before she passes so it make things go much smoother. altho she did not have any assets and only one bank account which I had my name on too. My dad's situation was more difficult but my brother took care of all that. My dad had no assets or investments either, other than the house and that was already in a trust to us kids. It was his credit cards and debt that was an issue when he passed. Luckily, my brother knew where to find all his files and paperwork. I wouldn't have had a clue! I need to get all my stuff organized here too in case something should happen to me. Still not sure who I want to will the house and car to.
