Wednesday September 25th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mormin' ladies~~~

Figured I'd start coffee today since I was up early for a Lake Huron sunrise. I've been in the thumb of Michigan's lower peninsula mitten for a bit. Checking out lighthouses.

Weather had been good, mid 80s. Some rain expected in the coming days. Other than that, not much new here.

Have a good day ladies and fior those in heat and fire areas, stay safe.

No moss growing on your tires, Cheryl. Enjoy watching fall come to the midwest. I have always liked the smells, crisp air and colors best. I is one of the selling points that try to balance out our icy bluster winters.

Do you know your schedule for visiting Quarter Horse Congress? I will be gone for the most of it but I can always hope. I won't get back until the 17th and then that silly Josef went and entered a dog show for the weekend on the 19th&20th. It was difficult to resist since the Roberts Center is only 20 minutes up the road for the house. I have only been once but I don't think I would ever get tired of seeing that many beautiful horses and wandering down through the vendor areas.....

Hi, Cheryl, where are you exactly?? If at Port Crescent, I used to know every tree there. My parents had a cottage from 1950 to 2001 five cottages east of Port Crescent State Park. And way back before it was a state park, my brother and I, along with a few cousins, used to load up a lunch and take the rowboat down the beach to play down by the old and new Pinnebog Rivers. (Old river is by the campground. It cut through about 1/2 mile west when they dug out a lot of sand to make glass.) We were probably about 10-12 but could be gone all day!! And I have been on the Port Austin lighthouse by boat--I think about in the 1960s.

Glad someone started the morning early today. I have been up successfully making a reservation at WP Franklin COE park in Florida, but am going back to bed for a while. Might read in bed.

Good Morning to All - We are finally home from our 2 month trip in search of cooler weather - and we did find it - sometimes too cool. Picked a good time to come home to Vegas. All temperatures for coming week are 95 or less.
Finished really cleaning the motorhome - every nook and cranny. Emptied, scrubbed, vacuumed, mopped and washed. Glad it is done. Took it back to storage this morning.
It still has to go to RV doctor for a recall on a part of the jacks, also one of our "they will not leak" windows leaked like crazy in one downpours we were in.
We drove the RV 3600 miles and many more miles on the car. We were gone just one day short of two months. Too much traveling and not enough time spent relaxing.
But we had a good time.
Now we are already thinking about our winter in Mexico trip.
I am so behind on my blog, but usually don't do much to write about when we are home so will have a chance to catch it up.
All of you on the road, drive safe and enjoy the sights.
We are just going to relax for a few days.

Great weather today, so I spent it working outside. Cleaning up the old flowers and both raised beds are tucked in for winter. Spent some time up on the ladder fixing the leaks in my gutters (I hope), time will tell if I am winning. Once I know they no longer leak I will finish cleaning them out.

Going out to lunch today for my neighbors birthday then we will come back to my house for a game of Mexican train. Will spend the weekend getting things ready to go in the Motorhome as it will soon be time to load and go CAMPING.

Getting in just under the wire for the day! I think the Morning Coffee turns into Happy Hour and then Last Call, so we cover all different times of the day here! Lol! :D (I was gonna write that apparently I am a Last Call girl, but decided that didn't sound right! :o  )

Got a few things done around here yesterday altho looking at this place, I can't see much difference. Worked the morning shift til 2pm and stopped at Curves. After that, met up with my neighbors at a Mexican restaurant for our last Wednesday dinner GTG for the summer. I sat with a couple of new ladies I met last week, one who is a snowbird from Minnesota and another who just bought a park model with her hubby recently. Had great conversations with both of them. I am so glad I have been going to these dinners so I could meet these people in a smaller group before the snowbird mass comes in next month or so. Probably over a thousand people will be here for the winter! One of the ladies said the people here really know how to have a good time and it will be party central all winter! Can't wait!

When we left the restaurant, we were greeted by a dust storm blowing thru the valley. Couldn't even see the mountains right behind where I live. I about got blown over on the freeway! That was followed by a thunderstorm and decent rain for a couple hours afterward. More heading this way (from Phoenix! :o ). They are just about to start seeding the lawns here so this rain will be good to get the ground a little wet for that.

Watched the last episode of the Country Music history documentary. There were 8 episodes, one each night for the past week, but I missed the first 4 before I knew about it. The show I watched last week was an intro to this series. It has been very interesting to watch and learn a lot more about all the people who started and changed country music over the years.

Good night!

There was the first show that had different entertainers performing while they showed clips of the upcoming Country Music History documentary throughout the show. Must have been the next night that they started with the first episode of the History doc. I came across it on episode 4 several days later. I didn't realized it would be airing right after that first show.

I would have liked to see the first 4 since those covered the very beginnings of country music. The 8th and last episode covered the singers/songwriters from the 80's and 90's.

Rant coming... In my opinion, that was when country music started going downhill. All the songs were sounding more like rock music and sounding the same. We had a country music station on at work on day last week and it sounded like the same song being played over and over for 6 hours straight! Nothing unique or really country sounding anymore. The singers all sound alike and the lyrics are all similar and the music is all about the same to me. The documentary talked a lot about how Nashville and the music labels are always trying to control what the singers write, sing and play. Most of the really famous country music entertainers from years back refused to go along with being put in a box and told what to do, and once they went on their own and did their own thing, they became famous. I think Nashville has too much control now of what is being put out there and that is why it all sounds the same.
...OK, enough of my rant!

I have never listened to much "Country" music, although I have listened to a bit. Trying to think back on a song that I might have liked, the only one that comes to mind is Garth Brook's "The Thunder Rolls".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIV0oovj7vc&feature=youtu.be

Don't really know why - I have never been in a situation like the one described in the song - but the song (although perhaps - maybe - a little bit "rocky-rolly") I find to be moody and evocative.

LOL. Plus I really like the sound of rain and thunder storms!

Anyone else have a Country song they would like to share?

. . . And Barbie!

After reading along with your many "adventures" over the last several years, and of your experiences (both good and bad - some hair-raising - thanks for sharing!) and of renting a rooms here and there as living space (and of having room mates, both good and bad!), I am so happy that you have finally found such a nice place to live in, one you don't have to share with anyone.

It must be wonderful for you. You have waited a very long time for this, and you deserve it. :D

Best wishes,

Anne

with music I tend to go to the oldies whether it is country or rock and roll (that was usually the flip side of the record... the more mellow)
when my kids were growing up there was a album Singin in the Kitchen by Bobby Bare he did it with his family and was
so funny in a lot of songs as well as loving my girls just loved it been so long since I've listened to it that I am not pulling out names of the songs one song ended with the kids telling their dad how much they loved him and admitting to being bribed with ice cream just a hoot one was were did I come from??
I have to agree Barbie that so much of the new country isn't really country but it is what they play here so is what I listen too..
a lot of the time it's just background as I rarely just sit and listen to the words unless it catches the ear... there is one that talks about if I could just load up the car and take a ride to heaven for the day and what he would do who he would want to see... a neat song and when it registers that it's on that one I usually listen to..
so if I can I listen to names that I can't remember right now like Marty Robbins, Rex can't think of his last name there are many that we listened to

I have so many favorites! Anything by Patsy Cline for sure. I loved John Anderson (Swingin') and saw several of his concerts. Also had a thing for Clint Black when he first became popular. Of course, Waylon, Willie, Merle and Johnny Cash.

Anne, I am happy with where I am now. I think once it cools off and I can get out and spend time around the water and green areas here I will love it even more. And all the activities! :o :D With this place, I can socialize as much as I want and then I can be home by myself for my "me" time to get away from it all when I need to.
