Cool Tuesday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cool Tuesday!

Postby BarbaraRose » Tue Sep 17, 2019 9:40 am

Was woken up a bit ago by the lawn mowers and edgers, They are scalping the grass now down to the ground for the winter season. I guess then they will reseed all of it in a couple weeks and it will come back nice and green! I opened the windows to get the nice cool air in here and the smell of the fresh cut grass. I may regret that tho as they are also kicking up a lot of dust with it. Will see how my allergies are later . I am still in bed so I did close my bedroom window due to the dust and the noise. Once they get past my house, I will try to get back to sleep for a bit.

...just closed all my windows. There is a huge cloud of dust outside the house so I figured that was worse than the cool air and grassy smell. So much for my nice clean car!

Was so nice seeing my brother except that he is so thin and frail. He is very depressed which I can understand. He probably has a lot of guilt about the accident, but also he has lost his ability to drive or continue his passion which was boats, ie; restoring antique boats and outboard motors which he was famous for his work all throughout the Midwest. He no longer has any real reason to get up in the mornings. He needs some sort of hobby or interest that will get him up and out. His physical condition will continue to decline if he stays in bed all the time. His wife is doing the best she can with him. He is very stubborn and he chastises her a lot now which he never used to do. Not sure if that is due to his brain injury or just frustration of not being able to do things for himself. Just a sad situation.

I work later today so I have some time to get a few things done around here once I get up. They are starting to schedule me for 4 days a week instead of 3, so that will help my paychecks look better.

Hope you all enjoy your day! :D

Hi Barbie & everyone! Barbie, I feel so sorry for you, your brother and his wife. That's got to be a tough situation all the way around. Perhaps he could get some kind of PT or counseling to help get him through this.

Steve and I are in North Little Rock Arkansas at the city owned Riverside RV Park. The sites are very long and level. This morning we walked across the Clinton Presidential Bridge to the Clinton Library. It is very warm out so we're going to walk it again tomorrow, starting earlier, before the heat of the day sets in. From here, we will go to Grenada Mississippi, slowly making our way back to Ocala. This has been a long trip, but I don't regret a second of it.

Irmi, he is in PT twice a week but I think he needs more than that. He has gone to counseling but refuses to go without Julie being there. Then he won't say anything because she is in the room with him. He used to be much more easy-going and cooperative but with everything that has happened, his attitude is much different now. I am going to ask Julie if she has considered Adult DayCare. That might be an option for him (and give her a little break).

Boy am I glad I decided to close the windows here at the last minute! What a mess outside! Took some pics before I went out and swept...

The first section next to my driveway is the lawn, the next section is the neighbors driveway...

It looked like this all around and under my car...

...and around my golf cart. The inside of my cart is full of dust and debris as well...

I did call security to ask if it will be cleaned up but was told it would be a day or two. :o This is the first time I am not happy with something they are doing here! I will have to get my leaf blower out to really get the dust off of everything. Of course if it gets windy, that will blow it around all over again. So much for opening windows for awhile!

Good grief, Barbie, they scalped every thing. My mower won't even go that low.

I am cooling off from working in the yard in 96 degree heat. I need to change so I can go to the Meetup in Lafayette and I have a couple of errands I want to run. I can't do anything outside without 2 or 3 cats being in the way. It's usually the 3 stooges.

There is another named storm going into West Louisiana and East Texas. I sure hope Houston doesn't flood again. The rain is not far to the West of me so hope we don't get a lot.

They just came by with leaf blowers to clean up the mess (actually just blowing it around some more), so maybe I wasn't the only one who complained.

Barbie, when you said they scalped the yards, that's exactly what they did. I'm not sure I understand their logic.

I'm glad your brother is getting help, but the Adult Day Care seems like a good option. You & Julie both need a break, but I'm glad you are so close by, even if it's just to talk.

I guess in the desert they have winter grass and summer grass. They will put grass seed down in the next couple weeks.

In the true desert they shouldn't have any grass. Watering it just brings the humidity levels we want to avoid up. Plus it's ridiculous to spend money doing that. If people want to live in the desert, they should live with desert plants, etc.

Off my soap box. Cloudy, rainy and stormy just came over here. Probably will end in about an hour.

Cold and rainy here at Beebee Bridge Park, near Chelan Falls, WA. It's directly on the Columbia River about 100 miles north of Yakima and an equal distance east of Seattle, but on the other side of the mountains. Very nice place with good views of the river and paved roads and campsites, well spread apart. Cost after Labor Day and before the Memorial Day weekend is $15 for seniors--pretty good deal for water and electric at such a nice place. (Must pay by credit card or cash--no checks accepts.) Limit is 15 days off-season and 10 days during the summer when cost is $30 per site. You do need tokens for showers, however. I am at the far end, which has good satellite access, though a bit more road noise than I like. Am going to try to move tomorrow to a site along the river.

Kind of interesting hills and mountains in this area: mostly rocky grasslands with a lot of fruit trees in the valleys. There is supposed to be a nice all-day boat tour of Lake Chelan, which I will check out later this week when it is not so cold and drizzly. Supposed to be 73 and sunny on Friday. https://ladyofthelake.com/high-season-schedule/

And I agree with Beth that they should have desert gravel and desert plants instead of trying to grow grass in such a hot spot. And throwing all that dust on your clean car and sidewalks must really be a pain!

I need to change my habits....going to bed late and getting up late unless I need to get up...when I go to mom's I have to get up early like close to 6 and since I don't go to bed until way late often times it will be close to 3 that makes not a lot of sleep and no one to blame but myself  but usually set my alarm for close to 10 other days unless there is a reason to get up.. today no reason took an Alieve and went to bed maybe 2:30 or so and didn't wake up till way late... I actually thought when I looked at my phone that it was wrong... and didn't know why.... when I wake up it's typical of me to look at the recipes my sister sent to look at FB or lay there thinking I really need to get up got to potty really need to get up... today nothing and I woke up almost 2:00 never ever even as a teen slept that late... guess it was that Alieve perhaps... or just not... still shaking my head at it....
so of course the day is almost over heck you on the east coast or getting ready to watch the evening news  did get in my 3 rows that means 3 more rows to go..... I knot the fringe figured out that is roughly 322 knots :o :o .... figured that out as well... lots of knots.... shouldn't have figured that out
then I went up to the house and they said you didn't go quilt??? oops forgot so eat a quick taco and went the church
the young women and the women were tying some quilts the table I went to did three they are just little ones for I am not sure what but for those who need be it hospitals or where I think the girls haven't decided it was there project...
watching NCIS not seen this one going to be intense and leading in to the opening season I imagine

I can totally understand the sense in having a desert landscape in the desert, but the MN girl in me loves having the grass. :D

It's been an emotional couple days for me. My "2nd" mom went into hospice care and one of her daughters let me know yesterday she was ready to let go. She did so this morning. She and her husband lived in the apt across the hall from my mom and dad when I was born. Even though within a year of my birth both families moved... In a day and age when that was the death of most friendships, they remained friends and I always thought of her as my 2nd mom. A couple years ago I helped find a senior living apt for her. She's the last of that generation for me and I only hope the two couples are somewhere having a wonderful time. And now I'm going to bed with wonderful memories of this wonderful woman.

Beth, I'm so sorry for your loss ! Was so lucky years ago to get the call in time from my second Moms daughter to be able to get there to say goodbye. It's tough when you have just counted on them being in your life. Hugs
