Beautiful Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Beautiful Tuesday

Postby Othersharon » Tue Sep 10, 2019 10:33 am

Good morning....at least for a little while yet! Not much happening in my neck of the woods so far this month. Just trying to catch up on never ending projects. Seems to be the story of my life! I did go over to the new house and help a bit clearing out what will be the dining room and living room. Had to move building things and tools to the basement. But the good news is that they now have water to the toilets and kitchen plus one working shower! And they can actually use the kitchen now. So progress is being made! At least they’ll be out of the RV when the cold weather hits. So other then that, that’s about all the excitement happening to me right now! Not looking good for any trip before the Benezette trip the end of the month. Which I’m really looking forward to. I’ve been checking the elk cam every now and again and I’ve heard some of the bulls bugle! Weather is supposed to turn summer like for a few days before it goes back to fall. Crazy weather! I hope you all have a great day no matter where or what you’re doing!

Afternoon Sharon & Amy who follow~~~

Just a quick check in. Been in the UP of Michigan since Sunday. As expected, no cell service or internet at the state park, so checking in while in Manistique for a few hours. I'll be leaving the SP early and heading here for 4 days because I really need to start looking at routes for heading south.

Have a good day everyone.

I didn't do much yesterday. Sunday night there was a show about country music on PBS and because I was busy and missed parts of it I watched it again after midnight. I don't think I went to sleep until about 4:00 so was dead tired all day. I went fishing before dark but the fish weren't bitting very much. The 2 alligators are in the big pond. The whole time I was fishing one was chasing the other all over the pond. The one doing the chasing is a little larger and when he would almost catch the other one it would go under and come up somewhere else. Don't think you can out swim an alligator because they are fast. I would sure like to get them out of there.

Today I had to be in Lafayette at 9:00 so had to get up early. Didn't do much else except go to Walmart and get cat food. I buy cat food for the outside cats at the feed store in 40 pound bags. I have to use my garden cart to move it around. I forgot some things at Walmart so have to go again tomorrow. I'm trying to get ready to go camping on Thursday. The campground is only about 2 hours away but would like to get on the road before noon because we have a pool party planned. I don't think I have been swimming all summer.

It's getting dark earlier and I need to start feeding earlier. I sure don't like the shorter days.

I drove 340 miles yesterday and almost 170 today, from Napa to Eugene, so I am really tired. I rented a car to go to my two doctor appointments--figured it was cheaper than Uber. One is tomorrow and one is on Thursday with my cataract surgeon. Neither doctor has any parking for motorhomes anywhere near their offices, so not practical to take motorhome. I took advantage of the car late this afternoon and stocked up on groceries. I'm going to be heading to Prineville and then up into Washington on Friday, so I wanted to make sure I have everything I need.

I've been having an ant problem for the last few days. Could not find my heavy-duty ant spray so used borax and some ant traps I bought. The outside borax slowed them down a bit, but they were still finding their way inside, so I finally dug around and found the good stuff--good thing I have no pets!!! I sprayed outside around my electric cord and hoses, and then with the slides out, I sprayed around the bottom and sides of each slide and in the utility compartment. That was Sunday, but yesterday, they were marching across my dashboard as I was driving, which is really distracting. Stopped at a rest area and sprayed around my door and where the dash meets the windshield. Stopped them dead, but last night as I was getting in the shower, I found a new army marching across the top of my shower. They seemed to be coming in through the cracks in the shower enclosure, so I opened the two access panels and sprayed in the areas both under my shower and in the area where the pipes come up to the shower head. And finally, I sprayed in the area behind my bathroom drawer.

I have not seen a single live ant today--Yea!!! I did wake up to a bunch of dead ones in the shower this morning, however. None on the dash or anywhere else. Keeping my fingers crossed. Surprisingly, it even smells good and does not leave a sticky or oily residue. Also supposed to be safe around pets when dried. This is what I used: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hot-Shot-Ant ... By the way, it is raining in Eugene and most of Oregon today. Temps are in 60's which is also nice. Both of these will help prevent new fires and help put out any that are still burning. More rain predicted on Friday and beyond, which is even better.

spent the day with my mom .. vacuumed watered plants watched a bunch of Hallmark shows... mostly old tv shows and one movie and crocheted got in 4 rows today... if I've counted correctly down to the last "section" and then the border... and we went to lunch... Mom must have been hungry as she ate a whole enchilada a seafood one... she was in the mood for shrimp so we headed to DQ as we knew that they had shrimp get out there and no parking and a big scenic tour bus... the folks coming from the north were never ending so we couldn't turn right... we then went through the drive through just to get out of the parking lot... then on to a Mexican place because of the parking figured it would be ok... which it was... and the food was good...
when my dd came to pick me up she was talking to her son he was telling her that there was a truck in the net on the pass perhaps we ought to go around... the net being a cache net truck runaway almost would have liked to see it in use... thankfully the driver survived... truck not so much... from the reports... I don't know why those big trucks go over the pass it's 10% grade up and down... I don't like driving it at all... ok with riding just not fun to drive...
so the other way is down the canyon around the palisades reservoir and over piney pass. adds lots of miles and if it had been a lovely day it would have been fun but its a dreary over caste day but we had a square ice cream cone... there are trade offs right??

Martha, I watched a show last night on the history of country music. It was really good, about a lot of the old favorite country singers and song writers. Many singers from the 70's and 80's were singing the songs of the old timers! I love the music from way back, up until about 15 years ago. Then it all started sounding the same to me. If I listen to a country station it sounds like they are playing the same song over and over...similar music, similar lyrics, etc. Doesn't even sound like country to me. So I really enjoyed watching that show last night.

There was a 4.0 earthquake today right where the Tenaja Fire is/was this past week. The fire is now almost fully contained but I am sure the firefighters got an unexpected jolt from the earthquake. We didn't feel it here but they did along the coast. Evie and Sharon might have felt it in Hemet.

Second day in a row that we didn't reach 100 degrees! Yesterday morning it felt really humid tho. This morning it was so nice and cool out when I left for work! Such a great feeling finally! So since it is supposed to be even cooler tonight, I decided to open all my windows in the house to air it out, especially since it is windy outside. Well I got the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen windows opened up, but the living room windows wouldn't budge! Finally got two of them up about 3 inches but that is all. I sprayed them with lubricant but that didn't do much. Doesn't help that they are behind the love seats so they are hard to get at unless I move them out of the way. May have to get some manpower in here to get them unstuck and lubricated so I can have them open this winter. (I just typed "summer" first! This climate gets me so mixed up!). I will have to close the one bedroom window soon so I don't get any critters inside since the screen is missing. Just wanted to get a nice cross breeze in there for awhile.

I have another long weekend coming up so am planning to go to Phoenix to see my brother and his wife. I also need to finally drop off all those ferret supplies I got from the San Diego Humane Society, to the Arizona Ferret Rescue. I am going to take Lola with me since she is still having "issues" in the litter box (some deposits are better than others but still inconsistant).

Ava, if you are free this weekend, we should meet for lunch!

There was a sad accident close to where I work yesterday. In the morning, a woman was walking her dog along the main road that goes up the mountain, when a man in a pickup truck had either a stroke or heart attack, swerved onto the sidewalk and hit and killed the woman. Such a freak accident. The dog was OK and actually led a bystander to her house so they were able let her husband know about the accident right away. The driver of the truck is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Was planning to stop at Curves after I work but one of the stylists was late and I ended up staying for another hour and a half so by that time, Curves was closed. (The one thing I don't like about Curves is their short hours!). Will get there tomorrow.

Off to bed...

Barbie, that was probably the same show I watched twice. It was very good. I like the old country, not what they have now. You could understand the words and sing along, not that I can sing. I wish I could have gone to the Louisiana Hayride because I was living in Shreveport when Hank Williams was performing there. I seldom listen to music now because it makes me too sad.

There is a movie coming out in a week or two on cable about Patsy Cline and I think Loretta Lynn. I need to look it up so I don't miss it. It might be on Lifetime channel. If I figure it out I will post it.
