Beautiful sunny and cool skies in here in tri-cities area of northeastern TN. I am visiting with my friend, Nancy aka Red, in Bristol, TN. Not to be confused with Bristol, VA which is on the other side of the street. It has been “warm” in the 80’s but sure doesn’t feel that way. Nights are in the 60’s.
We went sight seeing yesterday and saw birthplace of David (Davy) Crockett. Quite a hero. I had forgotten he resigned his congressional seat over the reassignment of the native Americans to the West.
We also went to see the President Andrew Johnson National Historic Site which was where he lived and had his tailoring shop. He was sworn in at the death of President Lincoln. I didn’t know or forgot he was a strict Constitutionist. Lots of problems for him with that belief. He said states should make and enforce their laws and not be told from the feds what and how to do it. I think we are still battling that along with color and sex discrimination. He also wanted to abolish the electoral college. He was one vote shy of being impeached and vetoed statehood for a couple of states to help himself stay in office. Lots I had forgotten. Was a great review on history.
Laundry today in preparation of having clean clothes for my trip back home, I think tomorrow. Looks like Dorian will rain and blow some but not damage us in north central FL.
Have a fun day and be safe wherever you are doing whatever.
