Rainy Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Sep 03, 2019 9:02 am

Good Morning everybody. Seems like it’s been a long time since I started a post with a rainy day theme. But we are having some heavy rain here today, very much needed. This will help my newly planted trees get a good deep drink. Have been watering, but not the same. The early rains of this spring coupled with perfect warm summer weather is resulting in bumper crops for the farmers this year despite a late start. The Farmers Market has been loaded with stuff twice a week, especially as the fall harvest season is here.

So today will be running a few errands in the rain  and putting my curtains back up on my newly installed front window. Need to wash the rugs from my trailer so thry will be clean for upcoming trip. I finished installing plexiglass to lower part of my screen door and have attached the vinyl to the upper part with the Velcro. So ready for cool weather camping. Can remove the vinyl if it is warm. Highs are predicted in 60’s. Found out last night that I will have to take a detour on my route as a bridge is being replaced, but no big deal. Amhoping weather stays nice into October so I can do one more trip or maybe couple short ones after this one. Am really in a traveling mode. Some days I think it would be nice to have a set of wheels to drive rather than pull a trailer, but something on order of a Class B rather than a C. Small enough to drive around and not pull a toad. But don’t know if I can afford payments on 2 vehicles as current truck is leased so have to get another vehicle to drive around here as well. Sometimes the urge to get rid of stick and brick comes around too. Dream on

Mid morning here, not even dressed. Better get a move on here. Y’all have a nice day out there. Stay safe if along the east coast and anywhere.

Ah, yes. Rain. Usually along about this time in late summer/early autumn I tend to forget about "rain".

The last measurable rain we had here was late May. I think. As I said, I tend to forget. Yesterday at my house was 102, day before yesterday 104, today it will probably top out at 100. At least the temperature trend is down! :?

Oh yes. Rain. Thoughts were drifting there a bit. Probably "first rain" of the season will come sometime mid to late October/early November. One hopes. One year when I was putting up Halloween decorations on October 31 it was 95 degrees.

Generally - and unfortunately - as the seasons change, the seasonal winds will start up a few weeks before the rains come. And, with the seasonal winds, come the seasonal fires. Worst time for California fires is generally mid-October to mid-November (depending on when the rains come - when the rains arrive, fire season is generally over).

Start date for the Camp Fire - the deadliest and most destructive fire in California history? November 8, 2018. The seasonal rains had not yet come.

Maybe the rain will come early this year. One can but hope!

Didn't get any rain overnight. Did have a small earthquake not too far from here but I didn't feel it.

Spent the day at Kindergarten Hair Cutting school. I actually did learn some new things tho so that is good. I always try to keep an open mind. I can't know everything. There is always new stuff to learn. Tomorrow's class is only for 4 hours which I am happy about. Today was a long day!

I actually got up and dressed in time for my dd to be at work on time (she normally calls me to see if I am awake) no phone call so I go up to her room and she is still asleep... tell her she needs to get up she replies not going to work today wished I'd known I wouldn't have gotten up did see the sunrise which is very unusual ..but did I stay up naw went back to bed... had dishes to do turned on hot water heater went to do the dishes and still no hot water.. need to check it out stove works so it's not a propane issue. I would bet it is lack of proper maintenance   I remember Anita helping me change something after Larry died and that is the last time I did anything on it... hopefully it will be a matter of replacing that thing... we will hope
seem to be on slow mode... went up the the house to make soup for supper SIL said that GS was going to fix supper and his girl friend was coming as well... so didn't have soup. they made goulash I told him that I had thought the other day that goulash sounded good... it's one of those meals that we all do different ... but usually tastes good. found out what the fencing material was for... they decided to fence in the back yard to keep Koda contained she is a free roamer new neighbors not liking it and the other day she started a fight with their dog... saw it and truly have no idea why so it is good that she is going to be in a fenced in yard... and the chickens will be safer... she is a bird dog... and if the chickens got out they were gone... like they commented suicide...
watching NCIS and trying to figure out who this guy is... hate it when the face is almost reconcilable but not there... and more I will need to figure out who they played found it Mike Ferrel!!! don't need to figure out who he played  and he is playing a bad guy :(

My old trailer I had to light the pilot light outside to work the water heater. I was afraid of doing that so I never had hot water. My new trailer has a switch inside to turn it on! So happy about that!

I love goulash! My grandma and my mom both made really good goulash. I have made it several times but it isn't nearly as good as theirs. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Mine just tastes like spaghetti.
