Happy Labor Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Labor Day

Had some rain late last night. When I heard it, I ran outside to cover my stereo in my golf cart. It only lasted about 5 minutes tho. Barely long enough to get the ground wet. I did see some lightning off in the distance. However, Palm Springs got hit with over an inch of rain with roads flooded all over, and lots of thunder and lightning. The mountain areas got about 2 inches of rain. They are saying we will have lower temps this week but higher humidity levels again. Oh yay!

I spent all evening last night on my new laptop doing my on-line GC's course so that is done and am ready for the class tomorrow and Wednesday. Oh yay, again!

Today our place is having a Labor Day picnic at the main clubhouse. Should be fun! Not sure what time tho so will have to call one of my friends and find out. Probably around 1pm.

Have a great day! :D

Have fun at your picnic. Seems like you've got a good group there, even before the winter people come.

This weekend is pretty much the last hurrah for the store. And it was busy, so that's good. Tonight we'll die again. Actually starting soon as everyone heads home. Hopefully the Sept weather will allow for some decent weekends. So hard to purchase for this time.

Yes, it is a really good group of people here. If the rest are even half as nice and fun, it should be a great winter season! The management pays for a lot of these things too. It is a well managed park for being so large!

...had a good time at the picnic. I did learn that we need to bring our own plates, plasticware, and drink. Had to go back home to get that. More people know me than I know them (or can remember them).

Apparently, we had a decent rainstorm come thru here early this morning. Slept right thru it!

Home after spending the weekend with my BFF Laura (CougarFan). It was a great weekend. I helped her with some projects around her house and had lots of gabbing going on. We were going to go to the State Fair but that idea kind of petered out for both of us LOL

My dog and her cat were so funny, they got along great but the cat was the BOSS ha ha if she hissed or swiped at Emma (after she became too exhuberant) Emma kept a wide birth for a bit but then just went back to playing together I loved watching them.

Last night before we left for dinner to her Mom's house we did the spray job trying to get rid of those dang little sugar ants. We didnt get home until around 11pm (I know waaaayyyyyy past my bedtime LOL) after showing her Mom how to play Mexican train and she kicked our butts. But we got ice cream for a reward. We aired out the house for a while, sat outside enjoying the beautiful evening then made it to bed. I was up early as I wanted to beat the holiday traffic so left at 8:15 and was home around noon and there was minimal traffic. More when I got close to home, people coming north to Oregon and south back to California over the pass. Since I live on the CA/OR border I get them from both directions LOL

I was going to take a nap when I got home but I am just not much of a napper so will just go to bed early and life will resume tomorrow (hopefully).

No camping plans until we go to Andersen/Redding for the Pow Wow first week in October. Had a great time last year so am pretty sure it will be good again this year, and will get a chance to meet a few new friends in person along with ones we already know. Love our little GTG's.

Not a great pic of the dog and cat they wouldnt stay still together at all, too speedy.

Yup, we had a great time this weekend. I'm not sure Karen will ever come visit me again though. I worked her to death!

Really looking forward to the Pow Wow in October. Just a month away! It will be here before I know it so I guess I better get it together and finish outfitting the new motorhome before I don't have time to do it!

P.S. Before anyone asks, yes, we took the animals with us to my Mom's when we sprayed. They were great. The cat went into the guest room and Emma got to hang out in the living room while we played the game.

What a long weekend!
I love having the kids from San Diego up here & visiting with son & his family , but I'm exhausted!
They all had a good time - mostly in the pool. Olivia swims like a fish. When my son told her she needs to come up to breathe, she said 'but I don't need to breathe!. :o They're aware that this is a dangerous time - she's more confident in her skills, but can still get into trouble if they don't pay close attention to what she's doing. Ended up making fried chicken for Saturday evening. Martha, cooking the shrimp, potatoes, sausage, etc in the oven sounds alot like the shrimp boil I was thinking of. Will have to try it sometime.

As to the clogged drain situation in my condo, yes, my upstairs neighbors are Asian. Thankfully my sense of smell is almost gone, it was the plumber who said it smelled strongly of fish. These condos were developed in the 70's. They include alot of common pipes & utilities. I'll check with the HOA to see if they can help if I'm not successful addressing it myself.

Barbie, sounds like a fun place with lots going on for anyone who wants to participate. Wish you could send some of that rain down our way.

Well, I've got to straighten up this place & get ready for work in the morning.
Take care,
Catherine

I didn't do much today. I was going to go to town to get some tarragon for a recipe I wanted to try but was digging in the pantry for something else and found some. I have spices in 3 or 4 places. I think I need to put them all together because more than once I have bought something I already had. I never did get around to making my recipe.

I got a little mowing done but some dark clouds blew in and I quit. It never did rain. I decided to go down to the pond and spray some of the weeds that are trying to take over the pond again.

The sick kitten got up and started exploring around the house last night. She sat in my lap until I put her up for bed. This morning she ate breakfast and took a nap. Then I put her outside with her mother and brothers. I will have to keep an eye on her.

My club is meeting tomorrow night at a new restaurant in town. I never did get around to going to the old restaurant this one replaced. It has gotten so expensive to eat out I don't know how many restaurants stay in business.

The Coach House Owners Club helped me figure out why my batteries were going dead. I had the converter turned off and the inverter turned on. The fancier these things get the more to go wrong. The last time I had the satellite worked on the guy ran things through the Bose system I didn't and don't have a clue how to work that. On the last trip I couldn't even get the Bose thing to come on. I had him write everything down that I needed to do but it didn't work. He can explain it to me again when the motorhome goes in for the generator at the end of the month.

It is clouding up here now with another chance of storms tonight and more humidity. Luckily, by next weekend our temps and humidity will be considerably lower, especially at night with lows in the upper 60's!! One of my new friends' husband is in the window business and said he will make a screen for my bedroom window, so that will be good! Then I can open both windows for a cross breeze. Will also be nice to be able to turn off the AC at night and open up other windows and air this place out. Also want to be able to sit out on the porch in the evenings. There is light at the end of the long, hot tunnel!! Yay! :D

I feel bad for the people in the Bahamas! Dorian is just sitting there spinning right over them, not wanting to move on!

I didn't get nearly as much done this weekend as I had wanted to. Maybe I am only good for 4 hours per week now, as far as motivation and energy is concerned!

Martha, glad to hear the kitten is feeling better. :)

got an early phone call from dd wanting to know if I wanted to go with her and her son and his family to the state fair... I declined I thought it would just be too busy and hot and I don't enjoy walking alot and not being able to sit and rest a bit... so when I got up I did a foolish thing went looking for a book decided to rearrange where I have them at so took them all out put them in years and then inventoried them so I can see if I have the book in a series... now to figure out what is the best way to put them back ... that is another day's project tomorrow is visit with mom... growing up there was a drugstore in town with a fountain made their own ice cream as things go it closed one of the descendants bought the building and reopened it... not been in it yet might take mom their tomorrow.. or we might go meet up with my brother we will see or we just might enjoy Hallmark... am thinking I am going to get some stuff to make Shrimp Scampi she enjoys shrimp.... we will see probably need to do laundry and vacuum. There is a plant that I would like to try and replant without moving it...not sure if that will be possible... it has runners going everywhere that I don't want to disturb. I think when I do tackle it I will need someone with me.
so that was my day... and what I want to do tomorrow
