Sunny Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Saturday

Postby BirdbyBird » Sat Aug 31, 2019 9:22 am

I sunny Saturday here in Lexington, KY. And surprise surprise, we are at another dog show weekend. The show is held in a large AC arena which at other times is used for equestrian activities. They have special rubber titles that are laid over the packed earth. Folks trying to get in and out of the horse park yesterday said traffic was crazy. I paid for an in/ out pass for the Honda but am now thinking I just made a donation to the park. Between the late times of all the group rings and the traffic I think I will be eating in the rig all weekend. Besides this being the first weekend for a U.K. football game, there is also a large three day equestrian event and a huge Egyptian horse show. Horses are everywhere but then so are dogs.

Josef’s Breed ring time isn’t until 2:30 so we had a nice sleep in this morning but Josef will be not so happy to learn that this being the third day of the show it is time for another bath.....

And I also agree with others that admire Sue’s physical energy to get so much done in her day but don’t fall into the trap of comparing what we get done in a day and/or what we chose to get done in a day. Barb, you are still spending how many hours A week working? Some of us spend hours on tasks are are important to us whether it is crafting, dog grooming, dog training, cat care, visiting family, gardening, reading, writing, gazing out at the world pondering..... yes, never underestimate the richness of doing nothing.... We each have our own journeys and adventures and as women many of us have lived in worlds where people have tried to measure our music to the “drum beats” of other people’s dances.

So do try to smile if you can, maybe stay as has healthy as you can and chose where you want to spend your physical and mental energy.

Wake up Josef.....bath time! Bahahah

Extremely well said. Almost a poem. I agree on all counts.

Thank you for such a positive start to my morning.

Tina, sounds like you are in a busy place. I think I would rather eat in than fight the traffic. The last time Hank had to stay at the vet's I ask them to bathe him. He sure smelled good. Now he smells like a dog again.

I am cooling off from spraying where I couldn't mow. I got some more of the yard mowed yesterday. Still can't mow the bottom of the hill.

One of Sadie's kittens looks like she is sick so I brought her in the house. She ate some but doesn't look too spry. The others are running and playing and she was just hunkered down off by herself. Never fails, someone gets sick on a holiday weekend.

Now they are saying Dorian might turn before it gets to Florida. That would be great but we will not know what it's going to do until it happens.

No big plans except to meet my son and his girlfriend to eat boiled crabs tonight. I usually take them out for her birthday. She doesn't need more stuff.

Martha, I hope the kitten will be OK!

I picked up my car this morning and went to Curves. Just had lunch now and will get started on stuff I didn't get to yesterday.

I ordered a variety pack of incense a few weeks ago on line and got 5 packs of all the same scent. I emailed them and they said to keep what I got and they would send me a new variety pack, which I just got. Then I ordered 2 pair of pants in two different colors (I ordered the same style awhile ago and really like them) and got them today, but they are both the same color! Sent them an email and am hoping I can get them to send me the other color I wanted. The problem with ordering on-line...

Hoping Dorian stays away from FL and heads back out to sea!

Quiet, HOT, Saturday here.

DD & SIL came up from San Diego. They went up to 6 Flags today - even hotter up there. Hope they come back soon.

Trying to figure out what to fix for dinner for all of us. SIL's never had homemade fried chicken, so that's what I might be doing. Almost too hot to even run to the store though. 8-) I've become a real wuss since moving out here.

Had a clogged kitchen sink Thursday evening. Turns out the new folks in the unit above me are sending everything down their garbage disposal. Plumber said it was clogged with alot of shredded greens with a real fishy smell... I don't eat greens or fish. Only took them 2 weeks to cause a back-up in my sink. If I hadn't been home, it might have overflowed & been a real mess. They aren't home this weekend, so I left a note on their door. Hope they understand the problem & comply. Never lived in a condo before & don't like having to deal with things like this. Not sure what I'll do if they continue putting too much down the drain - I HATE confrontation :?

I totally agree with what you said, Tina - we can't compare ourselves to anyone else. Hope Josef does (or did) well.
Martha, when I saw you were having boiled crab, I briefly pondered a shrimp boil this evening. I dont think they do that in France so it would be something new for SIL & not terribly complicated.
I, too, hope Darian stays at sea.
Take care out there,
Catherine

Catherine, are your neighbors Oriental. My sister lived in an apartment complex with Vietnamese neighbors. They were cooking fish in the dishwasher and stinking everyone out.

The boiled crabs were good but my hands are on fire. There are recipes called BBQ Shrimp but it's not really BBQ. You put shrimp, corn on the cob, and smoked sausage on a sheet pan and bake in butter. You can try that on them sometime.

Catherine, it sounds like the plumbing there is screwed up. Their sink shouldn't cause a clog in yours. But maybe there's something I don't know. Just sounds "fishy" (pun intended) to me and if I owned your condo I'd have a problem with that.

I agree Beth. That doesn't make sense to me either. They should have a separate pipe from their sink.

I am lazy and don't like being lazy so that is why I wish I was more like Sue with lots of ambition to get stuff done. Once I get started, I get more energy and motivation. It only lasts for about 4 hours tho and then I am done. I just need to get off my butt a lot earlier in the day than I do now. Then I could be done "working" around the house by noon and have the rest of the day to relax or go have fun.

That said...I did get a lot done with my bedroom today. My bed was in the middle of the room with a night stand on either side. Considering how small my room is, that didn't leave much room around my bed on either side, so I decided to move the bed against the far wall and put that nightstand next to the one on the other side by the closet. It gives me a lot more room to move around and looks so much better! I have a little more work to do in there but am working on a grass hut/tiki look over my built-in dresser. Need to re-figure my closet tho. Don't like the way it is organized with the rods in there. Maybe I just need to get rid of more of my clothes!

It was hot and muggy here again today. Really hoping the humidity would go away soon! I think it gets better out here in September.

Church tomorrow and then work on the bathroom...

Barbie, I'm sitting here laughing because I think the last post from you was about clothes you ordered. Then again, I've been bad about adding some new sun dresses so I have to laugh at me, too.

Saturday morning I drove to Cal Expo RV park in Sacramento to find Lyn Rogers. We headed out and found an IHOP near by and had a good visit before she checked out by 11, headed north to a family wedding in Washington. Sadly she won’t be joining us for the PowWow as it’s too long between the wedding and October for her to stay gone. That little Bengie is such a cutie! Perfect travel companion. It was so good to visit again. Going to try to add some photos.

You are right! I have been buying clothes too. I have way too many t-shirts and need to get rid of a lot of the black pants and tops I had for work back in Vista. I have bought more desert-friendly clothes and ones with more color for work here. I am not a black, white and grey kind of gal. I need colorful clothes and light, airy clothes now.

Lyn, you are looking good! Glad you were able to meet up with Velda! Safe travels north!

Barbie, the future potential of working in other Great Clips in the future would you need to go back to the “ black” wardrobe if you relocated seasonally or otherwise?

Not out here. All the GC's out here are owned by the same franchisee so same dress code at all of them. It was just the GC's in Vista and that franchisee that had the black dress code. Most other GC's are not that strict with it either with the exception of the one I worked at in Phoenix which was also black, gray and white. MN GC's allowed anything other than blue jeans.
