Monday morning come around

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday morning come around

Postby BirdbyBird » Mon Aug 26, 2019 7:51 am

Spending some breakfast time in a Cracker Barrel west of Louisville waiting for he rush hour traffic in the city to get where they need to go. I got away from the show site late because of the late ring times for group judging. Josef did pick up another Owner Handler Sporting Group 4 then we finished up our packing and made as many miles as we could. The Cracker Barrel choice was perfect. Free parking, a salad for dinner, off the road before dark and an opportunity for fresh egged and bacon for breakfast! Walmart is right next door an the other end of the near shopping strip but I bet my lot was quieter.

I was just reading the Aeon post for the day about creativity and the relationship to orderliness and disorder. Well the most interesting part was well down into the essay in the paragraph that suddenly brought up the topic of a gene that scientist believe that they have discovered that they refer to as “The wanderlust gene”. Those seeking discovery and novelty and adventures...willing to take risks..... Think some of us are in that 20%, eh!

Find yourself some opportunities for smiles, laughter, wonder and deep pondering today! Hug a critter.

Morning, Tina.

That idea makes a lot of sense, being hardwired to wanderlust or not would certainly explain my brother and I. One year apart, raised by wandering parents, and he craves security and stability to the exclusion of all else. I got the wanderlust from them, got to go!!

Good morning Tina, Queen and all who follow. I always knew I was a restless soul and messy too. You could never see the surface of my desk, but I knew where to find the paper I needed. Much cooler and sunny here in Hartford this morning, just a perfect day to enjoy. Peggy

Peggy, thanks for the laugh. My desk always looked the same! And that wanderlust gene, yep, I think it exists. I was instilled from a young age to save and be responsible (which meant steady job, never be without insurance, etc). I really, really tried to stay with that but tossed it all aside to wander starting at age 52. No regrets. I'm still frugal, but maybe that's why I can afford this!

Love that article! I always thought there must be a genetic component to the 'think outside the box' tendency. Especially since I rarely even recognize the box!

Thanks for mentioning it, Tina.

My dad was the one who wanted to always stay in one place, strive for stability, never take risks, keep the status quo, etc. My mom had a wanderlust spirit. Both of my brothers are like my dad, not liking changes of any kind. I, of course, take after my mom in that regard! I am the bohemian gypsy in the family always wondering what is around the next corner! (Odd, since the bohemian part of me is actually from my dad's side of the family  ).

I got up this morning for work and was running just a little late, then realized I was almost out of gas when I got in my car, so had to stop for that, then the traffic was terrible, apparently because school started this week. I got to work 5 minutes late only to be reminded that I switched shifts with one of my co-workers and forgot I don't work until 2pm today! :o  So back home I went, but decided to stop at Curves and work out quick on the way home. But their AC wasn't working so I only went around the circuit once and left. Decided to stop at Dennys for breakfast but apparently drove right past it without seeing it (wasn't sure exactly where it was) so that didn't happen. Now am home relaxing.

They are saying another day of humidity today but I think if feels so much better this morning! At least so far! It was actually very pleasant out when I left for work. I need to become a morning person so I can take advantage of the cooler weather at that time of day!

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Tina, I got the "Wanderlust Gene" for sure and my son Scott inherited it from me. I don't know about risk taking. There are people I don't like to ride in a car with them driving. And I'm sure not going ziplineing, sky diving or riding in a balloon. I didn't get the orderliness gene, I got the disorder one. I had to keep my desk clean when I worked but I had filing cabinets to hide thing in. That must be my problem now, I don't have enough filing cabinets. lol

I wish Cracker Barrel would put in more RV spots. That's a good place to stop. You can eat supper and breakfast and be on your way.

I got the cats to Spaynation this morning. It's a good thing I left 30 minutes early because it took me 4 light changes to get through one of the lights on the way to Lafayette. They didn't have the usual crowd this morning. Most of the times I have been there it's hard to get a parking space. I'll have to ask about that when I pick up Sadie and Inky. You now have to get an appointment and it takes 3 or 4 weeks for a female. Only about a week for a male.

The temperature was only 86 this morning but the humidity was high. I broke out the rubber boots this morning because I was tired of having wet shoes. It rained another inch either during the night or while I was gone this morning.

I bought a spray cleaner with bleach in it at Walmart the other day and I can't find it anywhere. Something else that didn't make it home from Walmart. Grrrrrrr

Good Morning, I am definitely in that 20% for the wanderlust gene. Don't know where it came from, but love it! I have also loved all my adventures, except the Glider ride. That was frightening to me. Don't know why, as I loved the ballon, the parachute behind the motorcycle, the wing power by a motorcycle, the zip line. Going up in the gondola at San Jacinto mt. The gondolas at Mammoth. etc, etc, etc.
I do not do roller coasters!!!! I enjoy the sensation of being on a plane going down the runway ay ?600 mph!.
Interesting subject. Lyn

I have had wanderlust since as far back as I can remember as a child. People often ask me why I like to travel instead of stay at home in a nice little house. Personally, I can't imagine anything that boring. It took me until I was 69 and working two jobs for 22 years to save up enough money to do this, but I am glad I lived long enough to do it. And I hope I still have as many years to go as Lyn has had!! I have talked to a lot of people who cannot imagine giving up their homes, gardens, and friends. They travel, but not as much as we on this blog all prefer to do.

I have read a couple of very good (and overly academic) books on how people moved out of Africa and populated Europe. They can now trace times and paths of travel by using genes and also lactose tolerance, by the way. (It takes about 5,000 years after a population starts farming and domesticating animals to develop a tolerance for lactose in order to take advantage of milk and cheese.)

So, we may be the descendants of the people who walked from the Middle East across the north and the south of Europe and up the Atlantic Coast from Spain to populate Great Britain! And maybe even related to the peoples who crossed the Bering Straits looking for new land.
