OMG Martha, I so remember this happening to her. She was one hilarious lady.

Thank you, Martha! Yes, those are the pics. And for those of you who never met her here or in person she was back camping on that beach the next winter. But she did heed high tide warnings that time. And, forgive me Jean, I did send one of my fellow workampers out when she was leaving, unbeknownst to her, to make sure she hadn't sunk into soft sand when she was readying to leave. (She had parked a tad too far into soft sand).

One reason her stories were so great is she never let them get her down. She had moments but when she got past them she told all the stories on herself... And obviously took pictures to share.

She was the one person I could "caravan" with anytime and anyplace.

remember the winter she spent in FL?? and the out of the way places she camped at... beautiful places don't know how she found them but as I recall none very big... and that white peacock I think of her whenever I happen to see a picture of one... in my mind far more elegant than the regular peacocks. I loved readying her antics she had a "way" of expressing herself.

I never met Sparkle. I think she may have passed away before I joined the forum. I do remember, Beth, several stories about Sparkle that you told me about as we drove to and from Yosemite together. In reading everybody’s remembrances of her, I’m thinking how wonderful it is to have been a person that so many have such fond memories of. She sounds like a wonderful lady who lived her life on her own wonderful terms. Those of you who knew her are truly blessed to have known her and to have such wonderful memories to cherish.

What happened to Sparkle, Beth?

She developed lung cancer. She was sick before we went down Baja Dec 09- Mar 10 but refused to see a doctor... A few of us tried to get her to go... Finally saw one in Mexico but didn't get the xrays he wanted until we were back in Arizona. Long story short she passed on in Jan 11. She didn't regret waiting... She wanted to do the Baja trip and believed waiting didn't change anything. Who knows, she could be right.

Beth, you were such a great friend to her! You two had a very special friendship. Those kinds of friendships are few and far between.

Yes, Sprinter, too. Blueberry pancakes in Chicken, Alaska! With Nan and I. And she did have a wonderful smile. There are forum members that have departed to Facebook and those that have truly departed. Most all are memorable. Some in more ways than one...... . Life is an uncertain journey, make the most of it. Choose as well as you can!
