Lark had a successful day at the UKC show on Saturday. She ended up with Best in Show (Altered) at both show 1 & show 2. Josef didn't get that much attention but today he did better and came home with a Group 3 and a Group 4. Today, Lark didn't repeat her performance of Sat but she got to go around with her "very own boy". Ben is eleven and his mother and my Ben were in 4-H together thirty years ago. Young Ben has completed 3 years of 4-H dog program and really likes to show but has two rescued mix breed dogs had never shown beyond 4-H. He came up to the show today and "borrowed" Lark for his Jr. Showmanship classes and then after the Junior classes, I asked if he would like to take her into the breed rings. He had fun and Lark learned that she wouldn't melt to follow someone else's directions. She is soft but when she figures out she is safe she relaxes and has fun. That is what she did over the day. Each time Ben took her back into the ring she responded a little better and he relaxed and grew more confident guiding her around the ring. It was fun to watch a second generation 4-Her have fun with dogs!
