Earthquake Lake near Yellowstone

Postby Cudedog » Sat Aug 17, 2019 10:09 am

After the discussion regarding Earthquake Lake near Yellowstone a few days ago, I ran across this article on the Newsweek website that gives some interesting info about it:

https://www.newsweek.com/yellowstone-magnitude-7-3-earthquake-60-years-ago-scars-visible-today-1454680

Sheila, were you there when it happened, and do you remember it happening?

Interesting. I was almost 11 when that happened. I'm sure my parents read about it, but at 10 in the 50's I was more concerned with enjoying the last days of summer or maybe even on vacation with my parents.

It is a very interesting story altho tragic at the time. Seeing it in person really puts it all in perspective.

On August 26, 2017, I posted, in General, with pictures about my visit to Earthquake Lake. I don’t know how to copy a link to it. Does anyone know how to do that?

Perfect Barbie. Thanks. Can you let me know how to do that?

You go to the original post and copy the address at the top. Then paste it into the new post.

I think we were on what my sister called dad's 7 day wonder trips... we only did it a couple of times but in that length of time he put in a lot of miles ... one we went to the Bend area of Oregon my mom had a brother and sister living there from there we hit Cresent City CA SF down to LA and An uncle and disney land the other we went to Carlsbad Caverns crossed the border somewhere and turned around when asked by this kid if he could watch the car back across the border we didn't even get out of the car  saw that big hole in the ground and the Southern parts of UT ended up in Vernal Ut where I had a couple of aunts... that is where we were when the earthquake hit... I stayed for a time with aunts the rest went home... on either of these trips not the whole family was able to go as dad was a rancher and someone had to tend stock milk cows ect
as I understand it the quake was felt in Jackson but we weren't there to feel it...

I think the reason I can’t find the link may be because I have Norton Security installed on my iPad. It doesn’t give anything to copy at the top. It just says: “Not Secure - womenrv.com.” Oh well, more reason to thank you again, Barbie, for posting the link for me.

I remember this quake very well. It was such a horrible tragedy it got lots of publicity. I also read your original blog Sandi. It was interesting reading it again. Lyn
