Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday

Good morning all. Got back yesterday from a great few days camping with Donna. I left earlier in the day then I had planned but it was supposed to rain all day so figured I’d get on the road. I had about 45 minutes of it and then figured I’d outrun it and was smooth sailing the rest of the way home. I got home and mostly unloaded and it started here and rained most of the day. And amazingly traffic on I-80 was fairly light so it was a win-win! Donna and I had a great time catching up and just being lazy. Guilt free lazy! Dogs got along okay as long as we respected Pheebe’s space. She’s come a long way from what she used to be like. I wasn’t sure how she’d react to Rascal’s size but she apparently kept him in his place. And Rascal’s always given in to little dogs so it worked out. We took lots of walks and just set around visiting. Now real life happens and I have to get back in the groove and play catch up here. Must have had wind while I was gone since my driveway is covered with small twigs and branches again. So when it dries out again I need to go after that project. I wonder if I’ll ever catch up before it’s time for fall chores. And that’s coming fast. It’s starting to feel like fall already and I’m not ready to let go of summer yet! Or what summer we’ve had! The fair starts this week and I’ve pretty well decided to miss it this year. Way to many other things to do. So that’s about it for me. One more planned trip to make next month to Benezette and that’ll about do it. I need to go back a few days and catch up with everyone’s posts to see what I’ve missed! Wherever you are have a great day and enjoy it.

Hello Everybody from a cooler CT. OSharon, glad you had a good meetup with Donna. I hope I will finally get to meet her in Florida this winter.
Cheryl, I keep reading about the high waters in the Mississippi River and lakes, but you haven’t mentioned it. Have you come across flooding in your travels? Wish we could send the excess water to California. Enjoy today. Peggy

Good morning gals!

Had a quiet night at work last night. I have the next 2 days off. Supposed to be back around 117* for both days so won't be outside much. I do need to get to Curves and stop at Home Depot for some paint. There is a spot on the bathroom wall where the shelf over the toilet was removed that needs to be sanded and painted. Then I can put up my new little shelf above that. Have some other small projects to do, if I can find my drill out in the shed. Also really need to frost my hair! My hair gets so flat and lifeless once the frosting has been cut out, and I can see my gray hairs and start plucking them! Time to disguise them with the blonde!

Still waiting for an update on my brother...I know my SIL is very busy right now so won't bother her with a phone call. I asked her to send me a text update if that is easier for her than a call.

Sue must still be camping somewhere since we haven't heard from her for awhile. And Lyn, check in with us too so we know you are not in jail! And if you are, let us know where to send the bail money!

I got some good news. I had looked into spending a day at Lake Hemet just at the top of the mountains here but the day use fee at the campground is $25 per car. I was so disappointed since that is a lot of money for just a daytime fee. I discovered last night tho that there is another day use area on the north side of the lake with picnic areas that is free (other than the Adventure Pass which is only $30 per year to park at any of the hiking areas out here). So I can run up there for the day or even a few hours (just a one hour drive from here) to cool off some and relax along the lake surrounded by pine forest. I need to find out if I can launch my kayak from there too. I know you can from the campground but not sure from the other areas.

When Lola was so sick the past few months and lost quite a bit of weight, her collar got really loose so I had tightened it a little. I noticed this morning that is was a little snug now that she has gained back quite a bit of weight, so I removed it and will get her a new one since this one is pretty old and ragged, I don't feel her bones anymore either. I will have to weigh her. She was down to 5.8 lbs the last time she was at the vet and no doing well. I am so thrilled that she is doing so well now and back to her old self! I thought she was a goner for awhile there! :o

Have a good day!

Here in northern California we are headed into a stretch of over 100 days, not fun. I'm heading to Curves, but otherwise staying in out of heat! Sure looking forward to fall.

I slept most of yesterday, waking up for about half an hour every three hours. Got up at 10 pm and stayed awake until 2 am checking my emails, and then fell asleep again--slept until 9 am this morning. Guess I got caught up on my sleep. Anyway, still feel a bit tired, but have not had a pill for pain since the middle of the night, so I am doing OK. Still bleeding a lot, but I expected that, even if I don't like it. No real pain--just a dull ache, so not too bad. Might try a half pill before I go out.

I was going to drive over to the mall to see if my eyes were healed enough to order new glasses, but I think I will call Uber instead. I will try to get a haircut while I am out, also. Will take it easy once I get back. Hope I don't have to go through this procedure again for a few years.

I looked at the weather this morning and saw we had rain coming. I hurried up and mowed. I was almost finished when it started a light rain but I kept going and got it finished. It looks like it's getting ready to storm now. I would like to load my food in the camper but the refrigerator is still not cold enough.

Barbie, I'm glad Lola is so much better. $25 for a day use park seems a bit much. Our state park campgrounds aren't that much for me.

Sharon, glad you got to spend time with Donna. I'm hoping to see her in March. Who knows if I will be able to go and be gone that long.

Peggy, I was watching some show about building a water pipe line from the Mississippi River to the Colorado River. I wasn't paying much attention to it. They were talking about the different ways they have gotten water to California and the way the Roman Aqueducts were engineered. I don't know if they have even started it or it's just a pipe dream. It was probably a show on PBS that will play again. I'll pay more attention next time.

I finally set up my new computer last night so I could take it camping. I have been putting it off for almost a week because I figured I wouldn't be able to do it. They must have idiot proofed them now because I finally got it done. It will probably keep me confused because I use an Apple most of the time and the new one has Windows.

I haven't seen any current flooding, but in the Spring I saw it was really bad in Iowa, Nebraska and southern Illinois. Another camper at this COE CG said this CG was closed until just last month. I can see excess water damage on the grassy areas here but it's coming back.

Went out to lunch today with friends that I made in Q. was nice but we choose the wrong place ...typically enjoy their food but wasn't too happy with it today... probably will be awhile before we go again... which is sad because in the past have really enjoyed their food
cleaned out the fridge in part full and they have been doing take out since the kitchen is torn up and figured it was all old.. yep it was told sil if it was in a tupperware type container it was going some was growing or dry or now there is space... when you have a small fridge like in the RV's you rarely have two of something open like two salsa's find it a lot in two of my dd's ... but they have more kids which means more people opening stuff and kids just don't look and see if anything is in there if they don't see it right off oh we are out and open another one... one of my pet peeves...
other than that haven't done much...did do the dishes have to wash them in the tub not my favorite kneeling down is harder as you get older.
but the girls are on ground they are eating then taking gd to airport then swimming I think not sure when they will be back...
if they would just figure out how to cheaply harvest the water from the ocean CA would have plenty of water
Barbie that area sounds great for you.

I hear you, Velda. 5:30 p.m., just checked my outdoors, always-in-the-shade thermometer. 107 degrees, probably hotter earlier.

Ick. I wish Autumn would hurry up and get here!!

Went out for dinner with the neighbors and had a very nice time as usual. Met another nice couple. The guy grew up not too far from where I did in MN so we had a lot to talk about.

The dinner was at a golf resort not far from my vet's office so I stopped there on the way home and picked up some SubQ fluids to take home and give to Lola. Even tho she is doing really well right now, she is still a little dehydrated. This way I can give it to her myself as needed. I have done it before with ferrets, and also during a wildlife rehab training class years ago.

We are in another excessive heat warning. 117 today and again tomorrow before cooling off a bit. I also am really looking forward to fall and cooler temps. I have things I want to do out in the porch and outside but is too hot to do right now.

I did find my drill out in the shed so tomorrow I can hang my new living room scarves on the windows and do a few other projects that require a drill. Also picked up some paint to touch up in the bathroom. I need to get up early tomorrow to cut up a bunch of cardboard boxes I have that need to go to the dumpster. Need to do that early before it gets hot out.

Good night! :D
