Picked today's topic for the crafty people in the group. It's also National Youth & IBM PC Day if you're interested.

Quiet, semi- foggy morning on the Mississippi today. Spent a couple of hours talking to another Grand Design owner. Gotta say, the GD people are a friendly bunch. Saw a bald eagle land night as the sun was setting. Always get excited.

I am at the Honda place getting my car serviced this morning. Hope it doesn't take as long as it took to get an appointment.

Good Morning, I am notorious!!! I have been knocking over the scooters that are parked on the sidewalk. I do this when I am out walking Benji. Someone videoed me and put it on Reddit!!! People at the condo are laughing over it. It is titled "old woman knocking over scooters".

Judy, I do sometimes carry a cane for the sole purpose of hitting someone on a scooter if they hit me or Benji when I am out walking!
I will be at LePage beginning Sept 2nd for three nights. Leaving the morning of the 5th.

Cheryl, are you also going to that biker bar when you go up to the site where we had the GTG? I really liked that campground.

Lyn~ I agree with you on the scooters. I think every city that has them had also seen problems with them, leaving them where they don't belong instead of at a drop off point, injuries, etc. I'd be careful if I were you tho. If they can identify you and there is damage to the scooters, they may try to find you liable. But I'm behind you with protecting yourself and Benji.

I'll be going to Poopie's bar next week with friends. I'll move to the SP 14 miles from here to meet them there. They are big fans of Poopies,

Good morning. What fabulous weather Laura and I are having at the coast. Most of the time when we stay here the wind is blowing and you cannot sit outside. We have a light breeze, sunny 71° just great.

We had dinner with one of my nurse friends and her hubby last night. Having our leftover oysters for dinner tonight.

We are heading over to the Casino for a little bit. Ya know just to check it out LOL

I seldom see any Coach House motorhomes around here so I have been know to chase people in Coach Houses down in parking lots to talk to them. lol They probably wonder what's wrong with that crazy woman.

I was at the Honda place all day. They offered to bring me home three hours in but I thought it couldn't be that much longer. I hate to have to ask someone to bring me to pick up a vehicle. Boy was I wrong. I was getting ready to ask if I was going to have a vehicle to go home in when they called me. They need to get more help.

Lyn, I hope we don't have to get the bail money to you. Lafayette had the scooters for a short while but I think there is an ordnance to ban them now. I could see having them on campus if they would stay on the campus but they were all over the downtown area.

Wow. I guess I'm kinda perplexed. I watched the video - the scooters were parked well out of the way of anyone walking down what looked to be a very wide sidewalk - why knock them over and damage them (I saw a part break off of one of them and go flying).

I don't get it. What is the point of knocking over scooters and damaging them when they aren't in anyone's way, and are not blocking the sidewalk? I'm all for protecting myself and my dog - but these scooters were parked, and there didn't seem to be anyone around.

Can someone please explain to me why knocking over scooters is a good thing?

Oh, Lyn, you made me grin! The scooters on campus here are often dangerous to walkers. (Why are "young" and "dumb" so often synonyms?) Bicycles, too! I haven't had the nerve to smack any of them when they almost run us down, but I sure think about it. Stray dogs, sometimes, too.

So today was national sewing machine day, eh? I want one of those old hand-crank machines for the van. Relatively lightweight (as compared to foot treadle machines), needs no electricity, functional. Alas that they are now collectors' items!

What you did is punishable and I wouldn't advertise it. The scooters aren't at fault for people's poor actions. And I agree with Anne.

I think San Diego is trying to get rid of these because of all the problems they cause.

I would worry more about being assaulted by a scooter rider for doing that.

Yes, I have wondered about the liability to me for knocking over the scooters. I do it with the intention of making them inoperable. its true, the scooters themselves do not crash into pedestrians. It is the idiots riding them that crash them. (if you are going to use this analogy, guns lying on the street do no harm, so why control them) If the city did not allow them to be dumped all over the place, there would be no worries about being hit by one. I hold the city council responsible for allowing them into the city at all. And yes, I write to my councilperson frequently.
