Rainy Hike at the Canyon

Postby Sparkle » Fri May 22, 2009 7:20 pm

It rained all night, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from going on a hike. It was a short trail, just 1-1/2 miles, one way, but it was listed as difficult. Hah, nothing to what Beth and I have done. However the trail was very slippery so I was glad I took my new walking stick. It is a very little used trail, so I left word of where I was going in case of accidents. There were many downed trees.

There were lots of viewpoints, that I just got a glimpse of.

Parts of the trail were very pretty.

Another misty view.

At the bottom were these cliffs.

I made the mistake of hiking in a velvet sweatsuit. Everytime I brushed up against plants my pants soaked up water. They were getting heavier and heavier. I finally had to tuck my jacket into the pants so I could keep them up. Suspenders would have been handy!

Looks like an absolutely beautiful place, love the mist. I much prefer a soft day to one with sunshine. Thanks for the pictures.

What a great trail, Sparkle....in spite of the rain and fog. Very strange looking cliffs along that trail. Wish I had a picture of your soggy velvet pants! I, too, have several pairs of soft velvety-like pants that I use for sleeping pants....I love them, but bet I wouldn't enjoy them wet at all!

Thanks for the pics!

Carold, somehow I thought I'd meet Elvis on the trail. Sheila, I'd love to meet up with you again.

Speaking of Elvis - remember the pic that Sheryl gave me - well, I have it on my stove, and eagle-eyed Liz spied it quickly! But for you - Elvis didn't want you in velvet - he didn't want you in anything at all. HEHEHEHE

Great hike - and I love the pics of the mist. Next time do it in the sun so we can compare.

Lovely pics, just what I needed to cool me as the temp inside the rig is 85. Stopped in Kennewick WA, green grass on rolling hills with bright sun, due to get to 50 degrees tonight.

A nice cool hike sounds really nice. It's a bit breezing here, maybe we'll get a thunderstorm this afternoon. Thanks for posting great pics!
