Sunny Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Friday

My last day off before heading to work tomorrow.

My handyman showed up earlier and got my stove/oven hooked up and working! Yay! Now I can start cooking and baking again (not that I do much of that anyways but always nice to have that option available again!). He is coming back later to cut off that shelf in the bathroom that is right over the toilet tank. That will be nice to get that removed! I bought a small cabinet to put on the wall between the window and the tank that will work much better and allow me to remove the tank lid if I need to.

Fixed the shelves in my large corner cupboard last night so I was able to put away some more kitchen stuff.

Off to Curves shortly. They close early on Fridays so I need to get there before 12:30.

Lola is continuing to feel better and looks much better. Still eating a lot but that is a good thing. I need to order another case of the good food since I have pretty much weaned her off the Fancy Feast and got her back on the good stuff. Her stools are still looking much better (but still stinky). I am so happy that she is back to her old self. I was very worried about her for awhile there! :o

Have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I had no problems with my left eye, but this right eye is really bothering me--itching and mild burning. Called cataract surgeon's office and lady said that was OK as long as the eye is not red and there no indication of infection. Said to just keep using my eye drops and using artificial tears in between as needed.

I have a "lessons learned" about the new Recreation.gov site. It used to be that you could make a reservation and then make another reservation that slightly overlapped the end of the first reservation. That way you could cancel the the end of the first reservation after you had another one.

As some of us have discussed in the past, it is getting harder to make reservations in busy places like Florida, which is what I am trying to do lately. I made several state park reservations a few months ago when they opened. Now the state parks are very full. But the federal facilities do not take reservations until 6 months before the date. Sites are almost always taken within seconds of their becoming open because they are so popular!! I made a 14-day reservation at Midway, but then tried to make a reservation at Ortona 12 days later. I got a site, but the system kept telling me I had used my senior pass too many times that day. After a phone call, I was told it really meant that the system knew I already had used it for an overlapping reservation and could not use it again as long as I had that reservation. I could make a reservation at the regular $30 per night price, but I really want to use the senior discount and pay only $15.

No problem. I would make a reservation and while my cart had time on it, I would use another browser and try to cancel the last 2 days of the first reservation. Nope. Can't do that. Can't cancel days on a reservation until 18 days have passed!!! So, I have to keep my fingers crossed that somehow I will be able to make a reservation on the day the first one is cancelled. This means there is a good chance I might not get a reservation at the new place because of all the competition for spaces.

Florida State Parks, on the other hand, don't take passes, but they DO allow you to make overlapping reservations and then after you have arrived, you can cancel days at the end and get a full refund. And you can do this on the same day as you want to leave as long as you do it before the 11:00 am checkout. I might have to fill in spaces with a couple of very short state park stays.

All this has meant getting up early two days in a row to try to make a reservation with no luck. Will try again in two days. There are just too many people on the road these days! Wish me luck.

Good luck Judy! We don't fit in the state parks but I know you do, so I wish you the best!

We are in Crescent City CA and will head to Redding tomorrow for one night. Had we been alone, we would have stayed more than one night. You live and learn. The weather here in Crescent City is above normal, which suits me just fine. The sad part is that there is lots of fog over the ocean and you can't enjoy the views, but this is Mother Nature doing what she does, and it's okay.

I found out at the Louisiana State Parks you can add a day at either the end or beginning of your reservation without paying another $6. I don't remember which it was but I think it was at the beginning and not at the end. I usually make reservation for Thursday thru Sunday and sometimes I show up a day early. It has never been a problem in the middle of the week and only had to change sites once.

Not much went on here. I actually cleaned house a "little". I am going through 2 boxes of papers to see what I can burn. I wanted to mow but it rained again.

Barbie, maybe Lola is kin to my Stinky. lol My son sure named her right. When she uses the litter box she doesn't cover it up and sometimes I can smell it all over the house. I'm glad Lola is feeling better.

Irmi, there are plenty of state parks you'd fit in. Don't rule them all out without checking!

got up late actually woke up looked at the time and decided nope to early woke up what just seemed like moments later only to find it was at least two hours later...took Shadow out and feed the birds... I have a way of putting Shadow out so he can be on the leash but gets to go further ...after feeding the birds sat down on the chair and just enjoyed the day the sky was clear what I could see of it at the view I had except for this little wispy cloud that kept morphing it would be small then start getting bigger and then getting smaller quite the change in it... was interesting dd called and we visited while she worked for about 45 minutes... totally enjoyed the visit and the day... then inside read a bit crocheted and got caught into a hallmark movie then went up to the house just as my dd was saying where is Grandma???? right here. part of my day was spent in finding a mower so we can go over and mow my mom's yard. so will have to get up at a decent hour tomorrow
that was my day
