I just picked up a book at the museum that I went to yesterday, about how to simplify your life, downsize, and figure out your priorities and what really matters. I probably don't need or won't miss half of the things I have now.

Judy, I guess as long as those things made your Aunt and Uncle happy in their healthier years, that is all that matters. It just sucks that the relatives are left to deal with it all in the end. My brothers and I saved very little of our parents things. We fought over who didn't want things!

I guess in the end, the things we do to make a difference in other people's lives, are what live on beyond our lives.

My mom is almost 93 lives in her own home has been widowed I think more of life than she was married. My dad died in 1973 and they were married 28 years then she remarried I honestly don't remember the year think they were married about 10-12 years when he died. her house is so full of stuff I swear clothes of my dad's and I know some of Matt's ... is there stuff we want I can think of one item and I really want it why ?? where will I put it? I am not sure but there will come a time when I will have a place to put it ... she has a old table that I am sure someone will want and chairs that are older than her as she says that no one will want I am sure as well... she collected a lot of plates (the decorative kind) there is even some under her bed that are still in the box.. she have three bedrooms with clothes in all the closets... in Jackson property is at a premium and it is pretty understood that when she dies and the house is sold it will be torn down and apartments made it is what is happening I personally hope it won't but it is reality.... I have a feeling that if that is what happens we probably will take what we want and just leave the rest why clean it out when it will be torn down? It is sad to think that for the most part what we save for keep for years no one is going to care... I have a stand that supposedly my grandfather made I don't know that for sure but I have it and love it but I don't know that any of my kids will with the except of a couple... that that is a big perhaps...
I don't envy you Judy of what you still need to do

Been catching up on a few chores now that I'm home. Still unpacking the motorhome a little at a time. Got the freezer emptied, will take the laundry basket out and unload the fridge and I can turn off the propane. Nothing else is really pressing to come out unless I need it for now. Its too hot to do anything outside unless its 5 am. Lol I think its time for a haircut, gotta get this long off my neck, its driving me nuts.

Ava
I had a thought today that may help you have more desert time... bring the motor home out set it up and then drive your car back and forth when you can come. home will already be there so the cost of fuel for it wouldn't be each time... car is much cheaper to drive... just a thought thank you!!!!

Just stoking the fire so it doesn't end up on page 2 again. Dont think anyone really needs a fire right now, but you never know.

Finally on the road and can really check out the new trailer. So far other than a bum valve on one of the propane tanks, all seems good. Will check out the water heater, pump and shower tonight.

I need to do that with my new trailer but it is too hot to go anywhere right now and I still need to get a WD/sway hitch installed and a propane tank for it, oh, and the tires checked/replaced. I did check everything out inside before I bought it tho. Just need to get some things brought in and put away for the kitchen, bathroom, etc, and make up the bed. Will see what else I need as I go along. I bought everything but the kitchen sink for my other trailer, so I don't want to do that this time until I really know what I need first. There isn't a ton of storage, so I need to be picky.

Cheryl, I am happy that you have made it back out on the road. Even when we know that time will roll around, we still get impatient and then suddenly we are there and the waiting is over. Sense of Time is a fluid thing!

I finally took the rig over to get the leak along the side of the slide repaired and the roof seams treated. I was happy and surprised to get a call this afternoon that it was done and ready to be picked up. It also cost me less money because I paid in cash. (I didn't ask and I don't want to know.) That is what retired RV fixit men can do when the RV centers couldn't get it in for a month. He also didn't try to up-sell or up-repair anything. Repaired what I asked and did maintenance on what was needed. I know that not everything in the rig is 100% after 5 years but the minor things just don't bother me enough to spend money on. Adjustments have been made.

Only other excitement is that Audrey got her teeth cleaned today. She did not find it exciting but she didn't find it all that unpleasant either. She went in wagging her tail and came out still visiting with the staff with her tail still wagging.

a beautiful day to do so skies were blue there are red rocks up there and green trees for some reason love that combo... in nature... we even found some rock lilies they only grow in certain areas...it was a nice day

Sheila is the slide lake and slide that you mentioned also known as Earthquake Lake? I do want too visit Earthquake Lake and some point, as well as seeing more of Idaho than just Pocatello. :D

I loved Idaho when I drove through on my way to Yellowstone last year. Two places to recommend!

1. Massacre Rocks State Park (has rv spaces with hookups) near (I think!) American Falls, Idaho. I tried to make advance reservations for each day's travel to Yellowstone. The "young me" would have just taken off and taken my chances. The "older me" wants a confirmed place to stop along the way.

The online photos of the campground looked pretty much "iffy" (at best!) but Rocks was right on my route, so after much debate I decided to "take a chance". I was astonished to find the campground lovely, scenic and historic. Pull-though sites, hookups, rest rooms, showers and lovely and scenic walking trails. My only regret was that (with other reservations already made along the way) is that I could only stay one night. I could have stayed a week, it was that nice. My site was on a bluff, overlooking the Snake River. Indescribably beautiful.

2. Craters of the Moon National Monument. If one has an interest in volcanoes, and volcanic scenery, the Moon can't be beat. I had known about this place for at least thirty years, always wanting to visit. Finally made it! Well worth a stop. It can be extremely hot and desolate there in summer (and I expected this!), when I went through in late May, I was astonished to find the entire area covered in a velvet carpet of tiny pink wildflowers!! I stayed at Picabo Angler campground, in Picabo, Idaho while visiting the Moon. About 30 miles or so from the Moon. The campground was basic, but had large, roomy, grassy sites with hookups, restrooms and showers. I stayed there two nights, and could have happily stayed there longer.

Idaho is much more beautiful than I had imagined.

I have stopped a couple of times at the Earthquake Lake visitor center on my was west from Yellowstone. Very interesting.

And Barbie, if you like red rocks, check out Valley of Fire state park, north of Las Vegas -- when it cools off a bit. First-come first-served campground with water and electric and gorgeous views. Lots of pictographs in the park and easy hikes. Plus herds of bighorn sheep that wander next to campground, munching their way along, almost every day. Its about 300 miles from you.

I will check out those two places, Anne. Will be headed that way on my way back to Michigan in October.

no Barbie they aren't the same one the Earthquake Lake is either in MT or ID so close to the border hard to know
which state you are in... caused by the Yellowstone earthquake many years ago... I was still young actually was in
Ut when it happened
this area is South East of the ranch... one spring and I don't remember the year before my time... wet spring lots of snow during the winter ect... created a problem and the mt slid according to the sign it was the longest slide in the world 900 some feet it created a dam which created a lake because I am not up on my local history... not sure what happened cause there is still a lake there but there was also a flood that did a lot of damage...killed several people and again that was before my time... but it did create a beautiful area and I love to go up...actually Larry proposed to me up there. Something that I rarely ponder and just now thought that might be one of the reason's it is special... I don't think my kids even know that
