Recommendations on a CBD products

Postby BirdbyBird » Mon Jul 08, 2019 1:56 pm

At the dog show this weekend several of my acquaintances of a certain age and with bodies that are not cooperating with their love to keep moving shared that they have had some wonderful relief using a topical CBD cream on their backs....feet,
....whatever was holding them hostage with pain.... I know several of you research thoroughly and use products only after careful evaluations of your own or from those whose opinions you trust. There are so many vendors selling/pushing similar products when I look up information and products on line my brain twitches. What is truth, what is great marketing, what is empty testimonial and how much does it really matter?

I have been reading about CBD for some time and belong to a group on FB called CBD Oil Users & Education Group. A lot of information is questionable but if you read through you can find out what helps some and then research that product. You do need to read and realize it is still fairly new and there are a lot of unknowns. But for what is is worth here are some things to consider.
One bit of advise. DO not start with a high dose regardless of what the bottle recommends. See the dosage guide below. If you start too high you won’t get results. Some people like my husband had pretty much overnight relief after one drop of the NU Leaf. Also start with the lowest price bottle oil as it is usually the lowest dose. I always buy full spectrum. If you have concerns about mandatory drug testing I've read that some people do test positive when there is just a bit of the THC in the oil. By law you can’t mail anything with a contend of over .03 THC but for many things the CBD works well. There are more links below the guide.
If you take blood pressure medicine it is advised you wait 4 !/2 hours before using. Topicals (salve and transdermal patches) don’t go through the liver so they aren’t a problem. Some people can go off BP meds with CBD, with others it elevates. The same caution to wait goes for any drug that comes with a grapefruit warning.
Almost all of the information is still undergoing research and doctors are no help or like here have been told not to discuss it with their patients.
You may have to try a few brands to find one that suits your body and your condition but reading a lot of information should help. One example is Nu Leaf, it is said to be good for pain and Charlottes Web is said to be good for seizures and anxiety. Lazaraths is another good brand and they offer discounts for low income and some other issues. There is also CBD for dogs, 4Corners CBD brand seems to be popular for humans and pets. I’ve found it both interesting and frustrating but at least I have read a lot of hopefully good information.

No photo description available. Shoot it won't let me post the chart but it says start with 1 drop three times a day for one week. If you get results then don't increase, otherwise do two drops a day for a week, do this until you find the dose that works for you.

https://bigskybotanicals.com/education/ ... DbMh1MUBsI. This is sort of an overview.

https://www.cbdschool.com/topical-cbd-drug-interaction/. Information on topicals and transdermal patches/

https://cbdoilusers.com/cbd-oil-reviews/. This is a list of recommend brands, most with a discount code.

Be sure to buy from a company that reveals their third party lab tests. I prefer organically grown in the US

Thanks. I figured you and probably Velda had researched and either had personal experience and or friends who had experience. I know the products are being used for all sort of dog issues. There are usually several vendors at the larger shows. When you listen to them though I hear the snake oil barkers and expect that someone should be walking on water....Yet, if it would help my body keep moving.....

Tina, good idea to avoid the vendors at shows as what they are selling is probably from a MLM company. I've read several posts about CBD being used successfully to treat dogs with anxiety, seizures and arthritis. It still needs to be from a good source. 4Corners Cannabis will tell you which of their products are basically the same as the one they have for pets. It has to do with the carrier oil.
I buy NuLeaf for DH leg pain online and when I find the 30% off coupon it is $28.50 including fast shipping. I found more information on transdermal patches. "The only topical CBD products able to penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream are transdermal CBD patches. Transdermal, by its very definition, means able to cross the dermal barrier to reach the blood. The U.S. Library of Medicine discusses a study, (Hammell et al, 2016), proving the ability to CBD to be efficiently absorbed via transcutaneous methods." from this web site. https://www.cannahealth.org/cbd-bioavai ... bsorb-cbd/ As with a lot of information online I don't know if this is accurate but the rest of the web site seems to list a lot of references for their information.

I have been buying for past year or so from Bluebird Botanical. They have both people and pet products . I've had good results taking any of the 3 CBD oils for sleep and for pain. If you go to their web page, there is a code for first time buyers which gives a discount. Also free shipping when spending over a set amount. Once signed up they have various sales quite often. They also have certified THC free CBD for those needing that to pass work testing. Other products have tiny trace amounts of THC that wont affect you but could be found on sophisticated testing. I have found them reliable and quick shipping. You can buy in different size bottles with the CBD cheaper per oz in larger bottles. I use about 1/3 to 1/2 dropper full of oil about 30 min before bed or if needed during day. The recommendation is hold the oil under your tongue for at least 10 sec before swallowing as sub lingual(under tongue) absorbs quickly due to all the blood vessels there. It's not a pleasant taste but you get used to it. It's not a MLM which I tend to shy away from. Products arrive quickly, under a week in most cases.

Thanks Velda. I have gotten some of the oils from Bluebird after your recommendations earlier. I was now wondering about the topical creams that are being pushed.

I don't think Bluebird has topical, but I've heard good things from those using them. Myself I have green full extraction we made with coconut oil which I use as rub and works well for me. I use on my neck or knee or wherever I need it, but as I said, it's a full plant extract with THC and CBD in it, plus associated Terpines of the whole plant.

There is a backwards governor in SD... It's not legal.

I think that if one checks around, there are many states where this is still not legal.

And even where it is, depending on where you are and how local jurisdictions interpret the law, one can still be arrested for it. Guilty or not guilty, it's no fun to be arrested and spend time in jail.

Anne, since major companies are stating on their web sites that they are allowed to legally ship their CBD products to all 50 states I don't believe anyone needs to worry. Also people who are getting tremendous results from CBD like pain relief, ability to sleep, to control seizures, wean themselves off of opioids etc etc, I think the slight risk is worth taking.
According to the new Farm Bill https://www.brookings.edu/blog/fixgov/2 ... explainer/
Marijuana derived CBD is not legal federally.
The government classifies hemp as any plant of the cannabis family that contains less than 0.3% THC.
It classifies “marijuana” as any plant of the cannabis family that contains greater than 0.3% THC.
You need to check your specific state for any restrictions

BJ, tell that to the store in SD who was raided and the products of "legal to be shipped and sold in any state" cbd oils were all removed from their shelves. And the news said people with the products could also be held accountable. As of today the store hasn't been charged criminally, but lost all that product. By federal law, yes, it's legal. But state laws vary and some of those companies are discovering state trumps federal in these cases.

Beth, Guess he didn’t read that bottom line. Since it is legal to ship I think it unlikely anyone is going to come into your home to check what has arrived in your mail, just don’t carry it around. Even though it does have only trace amounts of THC some people will test positive on a drug test. if you work some place where you are tested you need to be aware.

I would not chance it in SD, as possession of it is illegal. And the climate in this country is such that I'm no longer surprised by anything done.
"Possession Limits
Possession of any amount of marijuana or CBD, in any shape or form, is prohibited and penalized by law."
