Home Again Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Home Again Wednesday

Good Morning all. The fur kids and I have returned from our trip to the U.P. Had a great time with friends, are too much food though. Always amazing how everybody contributing to a meal can make so much food. Judy, you aren’t the only one who has added some weight back on. I’m cracking down, starting today, to get back to where I was. 5 of us will be gathering for a week over the 4th of July and I don’t want to add any more weight.

The weather wasn’t outstanding over the weekend though. Stayed pretty much cloudy and cool with temps in 50’s, low’s in 40’s. And every evening the wind would pick up from the north and blow straight into the campground. It rained the first night I was there and most of the afternoon of Memorial Day, into the night. But we did have a beautiful day on Sunday and a few hours of sun on Saturday. In fact, Saturday went from chilly, cool spring weather to warmer summer like weather and back to chilly spring like weather in about 3 hours. When sun came out, everybody shed long pants, jackets, sweatshirts etc. and got into shorts, tank tops, Tees etc. Turned partly cloudy, had a brief shower, then wind shifted north, got cold, everybody took off the shorts, tees, etc. and back to life no pants, jackets and sweatshirts  Crazy weather this spring all over.

Wow Beth, the creek is really going. I remember that from when I was there. There are about 6 sites at the state park where I was at, that are closed due to high water too. They had above normal snowfall and too much rain which has the low areas at one end of the park underwater, spreading into those sites. Water is up all over in MI causing issues. I hope that those of you in the paths of the tornadoes and severe storms didn’t receive any damage. I’m glad I’m not traveling this spring. I know Cheryl (IrishIroamed) got hit hard.

O’Sharon, you are certainly going to be busy for awhile. Barbie, won’t be long and moving will be over. Karen, sounds like you and Laura had a blast. Annie, I too had a feeling about that dam with all the snow in the mountains this winter.

So today is catch up on business etc., and see what else happens. Grass needs mowing to. Mosquitos are appearing too, yuck. So have a great day all, stay safe.

Good Morning, I'm glad to hear you had a good trip Sue. I always take food with me and eat before I go so I won't be tempted to overeat things I shoudn't. This morning I am grateful that I am not a dog groomer!!! Mitzi's hair cut is a work in progress! I did her two back legs this morning and we are both taking a well deserved break! I take the other two to the groomer but poor Mitzi has had a lot of bad experiences so I do her. Raining and a lot of thunder this morning. Emma's 'other mother/trainer" wanted to know if we wanted to keep Emma home today and I said NO. She always knows when she is going and was waiting impatiently.

I finally got a phone call about my elderly aunt and uncle with good news for a change! Yippee! I have written about them in the past. They are both almost 90 with no children, and very, very stubborn. Many years ago, they designated me and another niece financial and medical power of attorney, but as secondary to each other. IN the past year or so, he has become very debilitated physically and mentally, and she almost as bad, but would not let us step in and handle finances, in spite of bills not getting paid, etc. etc. etc. (I know many of you have been through this with elderly parents and others, so you know the mess.) They are getting two meals at their condo where they have been living in a senior facility, but no one to check on them because it is independent living, so we don't know if they have groceries in the house or been taking their meds or such. Luckily, they have enough money to pay for things, including the best care possible.

Anyway, my phone calls in the past have been pleas for help and crying from them on the phone, but then not letting us help them and being frustrated over not being able to do anything. I have had dozens of sleepless nights over the past year about them. So, finally (hopefully) they are moving to assisted living and somehow their lawyer got called by the people helping them move, so this morning I got a call from their Georgia lawyer (they are now in Florida) asking if I and Tonya would be willing to step in and take over finances and make sure they were being cared for. Whew! He is now calling Tonya, and is next planning on contacting their doctor to get him/her to declare them incompetent so we can take over.

They have three homes and two cars and bills and taxes for each one that are not getting paid, except sporadically. Tonya has been researching a bonded CPA to handle the back bills and things like taxes. Each home has utilities and an HOA with fees, and who knows what else. I know one car has payments, and who knows about license plates. The house in Georgia is up for sale, but it is a huge and expensive place in a gated community with log cabins and much less expensive homes, so selling it will be rough. The two places in Florida need to be put on the market. But, at least, most of the worry will be over now that we can actually DO something! Sorry for all this dumping, but I am so relieved!

Good morning gals!

Sue, glad you had a fun trip in spite of the weather. I am sure it was just nice to be back on the road and camping again after such a long winter.

Judy, so glad you finally have the chance to actually help your aunt and uncle! Sounds like there is still a lot to handle with all their homes, etc but at least you will be in control of it legally now. We could never take over my dad's finances, etc. because his doctor wasn't willing to declare him incompetent. That threw a wrench into doing anything to protect him from the scammers, etc.

Yesterday, I lost my motivation. I went to see my insurance agent to switch my home owners insurance and was there for almost 2 1/2 hours! I think we finally got it all taken care of. The earthquake insurance was complicating things for some reason but he got that worked out too. After that, I came home to a house full of kids, so I just took a nap for a few hours. Did get my bedroom finished and sorted thru some papers in the den before I went to bed.

Today, I think I will switch gears and tackle the yard since it is such a beautiful day. That will probably take me all day to do with weeds, etc. The guys never showed up yesterday to finish under the house. They better show up today! I think I will call the guy this morning just to make sure. We need that done ASAP and then get the termite guy out here to check the work and do a final clearance on it by Friday.

Hope you all get a break from the weather and have a good, safe day!

Got the yard all cleaned up, just some small stuff in the shed and the carport I need to go thru and pack up. I am taking a break for awhile and will do some more later. I typically have about a 4 hour motivation period. After that, I am done. I am trying to find another 3 or 4 hours of motivation to get more done.

I was worried at first that I wouldn't have enough stuff to fill the small trailer I am renting but now am worried I won't have enough space in there for what I have left. It will be close. Also not sure if there is enough space in the storage unit for what is left. I might have to keep the trailer until Tuesday when I close on the Indio house and bring some of it straight there. I can probably make room in the shed there for some of the bins until I get her things cleared out.

The guy finally just showed up to work under the house. Hope he can finish tonight. The final walk-thru for the new owner will be on Friday at noon. I always thought they did that the morning of closing but I guess that has changed now. I guess he was complaining that the home inspector wasn't able to see every nook and cranny because there were boxes all over. Well, duh! That is what happens when people are getting ready to move. The house could hardly be empty two weeks before closing. He also wanted the catio on the backside of the porch removed. Well that is pretty well attached to the porch and not going anywhere as long as I am here. He can do what he wants with it after closing. Maybe he should get a cat.
OK, enough ranting... (can you tell I am getting stressed?? )

Maybe some ice cream will make me feel better...gotta get rid of it before I move!

I finally got on the road Monday and picked my sister up on the way to the lake. It was hot and it was so windy it was hard to fish. The lake had white caps most of the time but we could fish in the cove. I got home about 5:00 and got everything unloaded. I left CC outside and everyone survived my trip. He was in earlier on high attacking Possie so he had to go back out. I'm going to start putting him in the kennel if he doesn't calm down.

They are still messing around with our road and it took me about an hour to go 10 miles. This bunch doesn't have flag men so had traffic backed up for miles with everyone trying to figure out if we could go or not. I was not happy after driving 3 hours and couldn't get home.

looked out the window this morning and what did I see??? blue skies!!!! what an upper that is went to see friends this afternoon and what did I have to use??? windshield wipers!!! regular down pour... for a few moments it stopped so did I at the nursery I should not do that ... but bought 2 pks of double petunia's going to plant some containers for my mom and she likes them they are somewhat hard to find where I typically shop up in Idaho for plants.
might go up to Ogden tomorrow and help my eldest move her classroom again.... but just talked to her she isn't sure if she will be able to move tomorrow...they might want to clean the classroom she is moving into before she moves in which makes since too me... so may having a not busy day... have a cousin I ought to go see. then my son is having a dresser taken up to my daughter's.. in his new huge home he doesn't have room for it... go figure it doesn't fit his decor... the dresser was a handed down from father to son but he has no son's so he is giving it to his sister... it came from Ireland prior to 1855 can't remember when he got married but he came to the states a couple of years before he was married which I think was 1855 but been awhile since I looked at the dates. would like to know the story behind it.

Everything's good here, Sheila. Thanks for asking. The creek level was down about 3 feet this morning and we, too, saw sun today sporadically and no rain until I heard some on my roof a little bit ago. So things, hopefully are well on their way to, maybe, normal. That might be too much to ask for though! :)

Walking Ty today a lady asked me how hard it is to cut his fur into a mohawk. I don't think she believed me when I said it is his natural fur.
