Tuesday...And Sunshine!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday...And Sunshine!

Postby Colliemom » Tue May 21, 2019 7:39 am

At last I think that’s what that big yellow ball of light in the sky is. Has been a rare commodity in these parts. Getting a one day break from rainy weather today. Warming into the mid 60’s too. Weather has been crazy all over. Beth, did you ever get the snow that was predicted where you are?

Going to take advantage of this day to load my trailer and get final organizing done. Then will just have the stuff for the freezer and fridge and last minute things to go in the morning I leave. Will do a bit of grocery shopping and load truck tomorrow. Can do that in the garage. Think I will mow the front yard today too so it looks presentable while I’m gone. Later this afternoon, will take a load of donations up to the church for our schools garage sale. Gonna be a busy day.

So, better get moving here. Hope you all have a nice day wherever you are. Stay safe in the bad weather areas.

The sun is kind of shining but at least it's not raining. The wind has been so bad yesterday and today I feel like I'm in West Texas. Hope we don't get any of the tornados like Texas and Oklahoma.

The other day Donna mentioned golf cart maintenance. No one told me anything about golf cart maintenance. You would think as long as I have had motorhomes I would have known to check the batteries. They weren't dry but they all needed water. I had to go get more distilled water yesterday.

I don't know what I'll do today, if anything. I need to clean house but don't want to do that. I did manage to start a load of clothes. I got a text from my dentist that I have an appointment June 5. I don't know what giving people a 2 week reminder does. I wouldn't remember that if it wasn't on my calendar.

Cloudy here again today after a sunny day yesterday. Staying cool out but I don't mind. Better than heat for moving around in. Will have plenty of heat once I move!

Lots of phone calls happening for home repairs (roofers, termites, plumbing, etc) and setting up appointments. My real estate agent is in Hawaii for her son's wedding but is still working a lot on all this stuff for me from there.

Need to do some close-up flea spraying on rugs and furniture this morning to make sure nothing else is hiding in there. I got bit on the bottom of my foot a few days ago! That is no fun! :( Need to run some errands after I do that and then come back and start packing up one room at a time.

Sure am glad I am no longer back in MN with the cold and snow up there. Don't miss that at all! I hope Lyn is staying warm and safe up there! And Beth too!

Gotta run!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Sunshine? This was before 7 this morning.

it's still snowing and could continue through tomorrow morning. Power went out about 8:30. Store is closed. Mt. Rushmore has sent home staff and volunteers and is closed.

I'm so grateful for being in my rv and having a generator. I'll be more grateful if/when spring comes back!

Guess the rest of us can stop complaining about clouds and rain, Beth!! That is amazing for the week before the Memorial Day weekend! Hope you have enough propane. My propane lasted barely two weeks when I was here this past winter, and it was so cold. And this was even with running two small electric heaters.

Have to go out and buy a faucet set for my kitchen sink at Camping World and pick up a couple of prescription. Also, need to move from one site to another, but waiting for the people in my new spot to move out so I can move in--musical RVs. One of my camping neighbors has a friend who is an RV mechanic, so he is coming by on Thursday to try to find the cause of the thunk on my roof and install the faucet. Better than Camping World, I think! The neighbor is having him install a new AC on his roof, so he will have to do that first, but I am fine with that. Camping World wanted me to wait all day there because they did not know when they could get to my motorhome.

Cool and rain expected here in Northern California today. Wow on snow and storms elsewhere! CA reservoirs are nearing capacity and snow on top of snow in Sierras will lead to bigger releases and very cold swift water in rivers! With Memorial day close, that's scary. Graduations all over being changed either to indoors with many fewer guests allowed or dates changed, stressful for families. Still cleaning up details and filling out forms and Mel's been dead over 8 months but stuff still pops up. Trying to convince Mandy cat to eat the RX food has been a challenge of wills but it's required before her I-131 treatment. Have appointment today with my investment guy for review and witness signatures on hopefully the last Navy form. Son Chris hurt his shoulder and if chiropractor can't get it healing then I guess it will be make appointment with GP to start that rolling. Need a dry day to get in van and spot clean for new cupboard bumpers so I can have windows open to get smell of cleaner out. Next gotta get out my new rug cleaning machine and figure out how the portable part works and clean front and rear carpet then clean rest inside and start restocking with my stuff which is in bins in my room. I want it, like Sue, so I just need to add last minute fridge, freezer, and personal stuff for my trip. I did get a new phone of a much larger format that the old iPhone 5s so that will eliminate a stand alone GPS though I might take the old one to see if it's still accurate. At van about 9 ft tall, I don't have as many height worries as some of your rigs. Changed also to unlimited plan with my Verizon so I can tether my iPad as desired. Previous plan cost $30 a month to tether so we only did it occasionally. Between XS Max and iPad, I should be able to find my way and entertain myself if I can't figure out how the tv Mel installed works! Things will keep me busy as I'm always adding to my to do list! Still looking at August and fall Pow Wow get togethers. Soon as I know, you will know !

Rain, rain and more rain today and tomorrow. I am happy for the rain and that I dont have to work outside today LOL Cleaned out my fridge this morning and wiped down the insides, good grief how does it get that dirty. Sparkling clean now. Also the hood fan above the stove was grimy so that is all spiffed. Changed the filter in the AC unit in preparation for much warmer days.

Will tidy up the guest room tomorrow morning now that I have all the stuff on the bed put away. Playing Mexican train here tomorrow afternoon. Thursday is grooming appt for Emma, she needs it badly.

Laura is coming to visit for the holiday weekend, it is also her birthday weekend I am very excited to have her come stay. She hasnt stayed here for quite a while so this will be fun. Her sister is having a Crab boil dinner at her house on Saturday so that is always a huge treat. Then a week later I am heading up her way in the Motorhome to go to the FMCA rally in Albany. Looking forward to getting out of town and having company in town LOL

Hoping Beth thaws out and has power soon. Just ridiculous weather right now.

Just a tip for those of you staying in rainy places--I learned this spring that even though you don't need it, you should run your AC maybe once a week for just a few minutes. I had to have my AC fan and motor replaced because it rusted in place during Eugene's four months of rain! In other words, the part that goes from the fan to the motor would no longer turn. The repair guy got it loose once, but it got stuck again because of all the rust.

The cost for new fan, new blower motor, and labor was $407. I may have needed a new fan anyway, but I think running the AC for a few minutes once in a while might have prevented the rust.

And the rain reminds me, Anne, how is Lake Oroville right now? Are they dumping water so it does not overflow again? They should have made that dam about 50 feet shorter and stronger--too much water behind it.

No sunshine in this part of WI today. Cloudy, windy and now it is raining. It has been a heck of a spring, but at least no tornadoes in this area! Rivers are once again flooded over the hiking trails and low lying areas. But there are flowers blooming and the trees and grass are a pretty green. So that is a plus -
We did not get the snow my friend 2 hrs north of me got. Looking forward to some warmer weather.

Hi ladies~~~
Just checking in. Hope the power is back on for you now Beth. I woke up to snow in Limon, CO and a lakefront site in the KOA. The owners are booked solid for the holiday weekend and had pumps & a bobcat getting water out of the sites, so by afternoon, I was not stepping out into 4" off water while trying to hold Punkin. Freeze warning tonight so i'll be disconnecting water. The 58° forecasted for Thursday can't come fast enough.

Hope everyone is safe from the storms heading east.
Cheryl

Thanks all. Good news about them pumping out water in Limon. Good news here is just a bit ago we got power back. Bad news here is snow could continue until morning or even into early afternoon tomorrow. :o Like you Cheryl, I'm looking forward to 50's but it'll be Friday before I see them.

I will add to the weather report ;)
rain cloudy and cold.. furnace has been running all day as it did yesterday and the day before  tired of listening to it that was the one of the many things I miss about the fireplace so much quieter and better heat...
defrosting my fridge this week not sure what day possibly Thurs night and set it up again on Friday want to have it done before the weekend going to mom's tomorrow am trying to go once a week will see if that happens... I know it won't next week as I leave for SLC on Monday to house sit for youngest. back on Friday for gs's graduation.. We get together to decorate the graves on Sunday then a pot luck meal after wards...
my niece is a manager of a motel and her dad set it up that we can meet there for our meal as it usually almost always rains... rains are predicted for Sunday this time as well... but we even get to use the pool so that should make lots happy... Sat we are going to run over to my sil's grave to put flowers on it. I was thinking the other day that it's been a year since we have lost a loved one... during a 6 month period we lost 3 last year... so hopefully our.... can't think of the term is over!!!
I did finish vacuuming just need to de junk the chair.. and the table hopefully before the weekend as well i also need to do laundry but think I will do that Friday...
Should go out and feed the birds but it's getting dark and although I won't get it done in the morning they won't get feed next week so they might as well get used to it... do enjoy them and hopefully they won't get disgruntled next week and boycott me.. I've tried to get the kids to feed them in the past and they will say of course but then forget... that and the flowers...

Got a few things done today. Ran some errands this morning, post office to return some items I ordered. got my moosie clock fixed again, stopped at WM and then home. Before I left to do all that, I sprayed the furniture and rugs for fleas in case anything was imbedded in the cracks, crevaces, and fibers.

Had a guy come out today to check out the wood rot under the house that the home inspector found. He will be back next week to fix what he found- $$$. I also painted my picket fence headboard, two coats, so that will be all dry by morning.

My handiman stopped by and we decided that we will load up a UHaul trailer on Friday night and head out early Saturday morning to Indio to drop off the contents and the trailer before heading back here. Told him I would also buy him lunch (besides paying him for his time and work). That is a few days sooner than I planned on but the only day he can help me, so I need to get busy the next few days here and get things boxed up and ready to go. I work better under a deadline so I can't procrastinate any longer! That will give me a whole week after that to get the remaining things boxed up and clean the house real good before closing.

I better get to bed soon so I can get up early and get started right away in the morning. Hope the snow and rain quits soon for those of you up north! We had a few sprinkles off and on today but not enough to get anything real wet.
