Windy Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Windy Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Apr 26, 2019 7:37 am

Morning Everyone. Weather Service says it’s going to be windy today, 45 mph possible. So, not going to be a very nice outside day. But got quite a bit done already, so no big deal. Hauled an entire truckload of old scrap lumber and wood from bench demolishing etc. in garsge to the waste recycle place yesterday. Looks much nicer back of garage now. Next up is getting rid of some broken patio blocks. Purged stuff when and after I moved in the house. Now am doing same outside. Less is really nice.

Haven’t done anything on trailer as yet. Have appt. for new WD system in mid May as mentioned before. Holding off on dewinterizing for awhile yet. But will be kicking into high gear before long. Right now Iam researching mattress toppers for my uncomfortable coil spring mattress as took out the heavier thick piece of foam I had been using on top. Makes getting into my under bed storage impossible.

Anybody heard from Lyn? Guess she’s having to much fun on her travels to post. Sheila, hope your truck is up and running like new when you get it back. Judy, glad you got back to Eugene safely, but what an experience. Barb, keeping fingers crossed on upcoming sale. We have a 30 day period in which to move out here, but I moved in about 2 weeks after closing, soon as this house was vacated. I had been packing stuff during the time it was listed and purging some things as well, so it was just a matter of packing up the stuff I was using, Dresser drawers etc. we just took out of the drawers and left the stuff in them. Same with clothes in closet, just laid them on back seat of my truck. Course I wasn’t going far this time, just next door  But did same when moving from the lake house over here. O’Sharon, glad you had a nice time on your quick campout. Gotta get more lined up.

Guess I will go do some more topper looking. Want to get something ordered so t will be here before first trip. Have a great day all.

Just thought I would put out the word on the Andersen WD/anti-sway/anti-bounce hitch.

When I got my Jayco last year I spent the extra bucks to go with the Andersen - it is WD and anti-sway and anti-bounce.

I decided to go with the Andersen because of the recommendations made from women here on WomenRV (don't remember who all it was - Laura? - but THANKS).

Using the Andersen, my trailer didn't move at all on my trip to Yellowstone last year, even when the big 18-wheelers passed me going in the same direction as I was going on the freeway, and even when on two-laners when the 18-wheeler was going in the opposite direction! The Andersen kept my trailer dead steady. It was pretty impressive, especially because I know that even my car will sway when passed by an 18-wheeler.

Being inexperienced with trailers and trailering, I didn't really realize how extremely well the Andersen was working until one day when I was driving back from Yellowstone.

That particular day I noticed that the trailer was swaying a tiny bit - not much, nothing bad, only that I was noticing it, and wondered what the heck was going on, because up until that day the trailer had been amazingly steady.

I found out.

When I pulled into a gas station and was getting out, the wind was blowing so hard that it nearly slammed the van's door out of my grip. Had I not had a good hold on the door, I'm pretty sure the door would have swung out and damaged the hinges.

Yes, the wind was blowing that hard and (dopey me) I was not even aware of it as I had been driving, pulling my trailer. The Andersen hitch was really doing it's job!!

Go Andersen hitch!!!

Another beautiful day here today. I have gotten lots of work done in the yard. Watering system up and running, all 3 valves. Now I just need to program it later on today. Will be spreading mulch most of the morning, dang those bags are heavy. Only had to make ONE trip to Home Depot yesterday to finish the water lines. Hopefully now all I will have to do is some weekly trimming to not make it such a chore all at once.

Have been neglecting my inside house LOL Did manage to do a couple loads of laundry yesterday and run the Roomba but other than that I seem to be accumulating "clutter" and I hate clutter LOL

Going to clean out my walk in closet as soon as the yard is done. I have clothes in there I am never going to fit my fat little self into ever again. They need to GO.

Sue, Laura does have the Anderson hitch and loves it. I think it is her third hitch LOL finally found one she loves.

Lyn check your private messages so you can make a reservation for the Pow Wow, they now require everyone to make their own reservations.

Well time to get some breakfast so I can get my day in high gear.

I have already been to town and back. Yesterday my phone went crazy and started using a lot of data. I got a warning about data use and turned it off. I went by the local AT&T and they have a sign on the door that the towers are down. I told them I better not be charged $15 for data because the towers are down. Want to bet that I will have to contest a bill. Got my passport mailed for renewal. Couldn't think of anything else I wanted to do in town so came home.

Tuesday when I dropped off Stinky I went to Lowe's to get 2 bags of mulch. I wasn't feeling good with my sore throat but kept going anyway. I shouldn't have picked up a bag of mulch and paid for it later. I felt so bad that night I finally had to get up and take Aleve for my back and shoulder. I am slowly cleaning up my rose bed and putting mulch. I need to find the fertilizer I bought. I wish I had mowed before it rained yesterday.

I have a campout next weekend at a casino. We were told that that they assign site when you get there. One of the ladies talked to someone that told her we could be parked together. I had to leave a message to see if I could get a site with my friends.

Sweetie Pie has upgraded herself to the bed. She was usually sleeping under my feet. She learned how to lay so I didn't run into her tail with my chair. All the cats but her will eat the canned cat food so I have to watch her when she eats and pick up her bowl. Stinky is a pain. I guess I will have to board her next weekend because I don't want to take her camping. There was a story on TV just now about a school bus that picks up dogs to take them to a field to run for the day and brings them home. The dogs were so excited to see the bus.

I also had the Andersen hitch per Laura's recommendation. Once I got it adjusted right, it was great! And easy to put on and take off.

Mulch bags are very heavy! I have a little folding wagon so I dragged the bags in there from the car one at a time and slit them open, and used a container to scoop them out and put them where I needed them. Once the bag got low (and light) enough, I took it out of the wagon and dumped the rest of the chips in the garden to spread out.

We did a counter offer last night, just asking for closing to be on June 3rd instead of the middle of May. Hoping to get a good report back today. He will still need to get approved by the park but doesn't look like that will be an issue with his income and he has no pets and he is paying cash.

I bought some new plastic bins yesterday for packing stuff in. Two smaller bins fit snug on top of one larger bin for stacking so that will work great for storage. Many of my bins from the last move got damaged so I am low on good ones anyways. Will start this weekend on the shed and get that cleaned out and organized so I can make room for the stuff in the house once I get that organized.

Also need to put my "for sale" stuff on CL and FB since I didn't get much response from Nextdoor.com. The carport sale is in one week so I really need to get things ready for that too.

Hope Lyn is doing well and having fun! Same to the rest of you!

It's windy here in NC, too. If I didn't know better, I would say I fell on my shoulder today. We went shopping today to get a scarf/shawl to go with the outfit I'm wearing for the wedding tomorrow. We'll probably leave at 9:00 to travel the 4 hours to get to the hotel and then to the wedding. The wedding isn't until 4:30, so we'll spend the night at a Comfort Inn to go back to NC. I choose not to pi$$ family off, so off to the wedding we go. The next day, we'll go back to Wilson NC to stay for almost another month. The weather in MD is cool and wet until June something.

Finished my chores for today. Oh yes and another trip to Home Depot, I think they now believe I work there LOL I hauled 7 bags of mulch (no wheelbarrow or cart).........and still needed more.......who knew. So bought 4 more bags AND they are on sale now instead of the $0.75 more i paid for them. 4 for $10 works for me so I bought 4 just in case. Wanted to weed my other raised bed and get my tomato plants in but we have a frost warning for tonite so decided to wait until Monday or Tuesday when the weekend crowd is gone. Will give me time to get it weeded and fertilized anyway.

Now having an afternoon Caramel Mocha and Motrin/Tylenol so I can move later.

Saw your message, Karen, Thanks, will take care of it.
Wanted to mention thatI had the Friction Sway Control placed on my trailer hitch, after seeing a post from Laura. It works very well. Had lots of wind going through OK. Zipped through with no problems. Thanks Laura.

Made it to Tillicum Beach, and it is very windy and chilly on the coast, although mostly sunny. Same kind of weather they have here almost every day all year! Beautiful drive down, however. I stopped and got gas, groceries, and a haircut, but I think the girl cut it too close on the back because the itching and poking is driving me crazy. Might have to take an early shower and change my shirt.

This campground, by the way, is one of my favorites. I have site 27, which has a small view of the ocean, assuming someone does not park across the roadway. One just did, got out and looked around, and then decided he did not like the spot, so left! Yea! Those sites have no electric and water and are small, but have terrific ocean views. About half the spots here are first-come, first-served, and about half have hookups. However, the campground is right on the beach, which is wonderful. Big disadvantages of this place, however, are no showers and no dump station. You have to drive about 5 miles into Waldport and pay $10 to dump your tanks, but the daily rate here for seniors with federal passes is only $18, which is a bargain, so it makes up for the lack of a dump station. Other disadvantage is very weak cell service and weak Verizon data.

So, right now I have a nice ocean view, but since it is a weekend, I suspect someone will park and block me. At least I can hear the waves and am very close if I want to go for a walk.

Well, I am getting more action on the house today. Have had two cars pull up in front looking at the house and taking brochures from the box. And my agent called and said there is a showing tomorrow morning too. So will wait and see now...

Yea, Barbie! One thing is that nice weather and the weekend brings people out. Hopefully, the next few showings will be to people who are really serious about buying and have the money to buy. Then you can get moved and buy that small trailer you have been wanting for so long.

got my truck back last night hooked the trailer up with help I know the basic's just never positive and then there is the matter of the break away cord that hooks on to the hitch that I can't reach and never mind get into the back of the truck...being short has its advantages NOT  was going to stop at friends in Nephi but they aren't able to have trailers on the street over night so went on wrong move... ended up in rush hour traffic going through Provo/Orem not too bad SLC up to Ogden was horrible it's horrible anyway but was worse for some reason and then rain even some hail nope didn't enjoy that part of the trip... then I went to the RV park (it's a mobile home part that welcomes RV's) notice saying not to park your trailer to call this number if no answer leave a message as they are probably helping some else... except when I called the number it said it was the emergency number... so thought I had used the wrong one but no it was the only one listed. so called left a message waited and waited and finally called another time left another message and they called back informed me I had the emergency number and asked if I had a reservation well no (never have had one) then you need to move on there was a rv park a few miles south name of Century wow I was really shocked so came to Century much nicer anyway ... even has a shower house which the other didn't
so am set up for what it's worth won't be here enough to tell. Wedding tomorrow evening house sit for dd and since I will almost be there for the reception will just go to dd's on Sat back ??? not sure they are due home on Tues. but she wants me to stay for a bit however I need to get truck oil changed and have him look at a couple of things... noticed yesterday that one of the slides didn't go all the way out didn't today either not sure what the problem is and how to address it....might see if there is a mobile mechanic near who can see what the hold up is
so very tired it's late need to take Shadow out was going to have soup for supper but for some reason it stove wouldn't turn on so ate a sandwich went to put the soup away in frig as I had opened it and tried lighting it it came on so happy for that
Barbie hopefully you will get more offers and better ones ...he was under the asking price after all
