Let's start our day with a good morning here.

What's your Tuesday plans?

Mornin' ladies~~~

Opening coffee in the morning today. What a novel idea :D help yourself to some bagels & coffee.

Rain is over here in Iowa. The hard storms hit north of me. Will head out in an hour or so to hunt waterfalls. Saw the first one in the SP where I'm staying.

Fingers crossed on the house sale Barbie. Continued safe journey Irmi, but no more tricks please. ;)

Have a good day ladies.

Work, work and more work. Yes those are 4 letter words ... But it supports my traveling and I love the Black Hills. Ty is fighting getting up lol... Probably today will be the last day he can come with me. We'll see. I know it'll be too crazy there tomorrow.

Just had breakfast and now need to get off computer, go get dressed and head out the door to finish my watering system revamp. Spent all day yesterday on it. Between running to Home Depot several times for different parts I didnt know I had or needed it took all day. Hope to get the front lines buried and the mulch spread today then can start working on cleaning out my other raised bed. One is done and now time for the other one. Needing to clean it out so I can spread the fertilizer and arrange the drip system. We are having beautiful weather so I want to get this all done before the heat hits.

I brought Stinky to the vet. She is having bloodwork done today and her teeth cleaned tomorrow. I thought about going to Walmart but could only think of one thing I wanted. I want to get one of the driveway reflectors to put on our road so I can see it at night. I keep forgetting to ask my neighbor if she called about the road sign.

Don't know what I'll do today. Probably nothing. I might go fish at the pond and spray some more of the weeds. I always feel like there is something I should be doing but am forgetting. Like cleaning house. lol

I need to go to WM this morning and PetSmart for cat food. Then start going thru stuff. Ugh!

Speaking of weeds. The weeds in my yard are coming back up. Will try straight vinegar on them this time.

Will have to keep an eye on my caterpillars today. Both are at the top of the enclosure and one is in the "J" position, soon to make it's chrysalis!

I am still not happy with my hair. I am thinking of going shorter yet. :o Will feel better to have it real short once I get out to the desert! Will be a lot easier to take care of too.

I have re-connected with a third cousin on my mom's side on FB. She wants to get a little reunion together when I go back to visit, with her mom and uncle. Her mom and uncle are my second cousins but are my age. Last time I saw them all was at my mom's funeral almost 12 years ago.

I better get up and moving or it won't be morning anymore...

Have a good day! :D

My Tuesday plans, like the day itself are pretty much over. But I got done what I had planned to do. Errands run, hair cut, banking, arrangements made to get new WD hitch put on trailer, ordered new blinds for the inside, gave my house refrigerator a good cleaning so I can put it up for sale. New one arriving tomorrow. This one came with the house, but I prefer top freezers to bottom ones, so am switching it out. Took dogs for short walk and now here I am.

We have had two beautiful, sunny, low 70 degree afternoons these past two days, so I got the ball rolling around here. Uncovered my trailer, opened the door and let the fresh air in for an afternoon. Finished some things I needed to do in garage, so organization is done. Made a pile of junk wood to haul to the wood recycling. Took the window boxes off the front of the house, got the leaf blower up and running after it’s winter hiatus, then blew the leaves etc., from winter out of the yard, Took out a rotted fence post and a broken rail in my split rail fence. So can see I have been busy. Karen and I must have been cut from the same cloth as we both are both “gettin er done”.

Spring took a hiatus today. Back to chilly conditions, high around 50 but wind is cold. Was rainy and foggy all morning. But nice weather tomorrow and most of week, with bit of rain thrown in along the way. Was nice having the low 70’s for couple days, but above norm for this time of year.

Beth, sounds like you are really into the swing of things now. When does the store open? Irmi, hope you get the car fixed with no issues. Barbie, keeping my fingers crossed that you have an offer and butterflies too :) Cheryl, hope you find some pretty waterfalls.

Chicken is ready to cut up and throw in my salad, tonight’s dinner. So have a nice evening or afternoon depending on where you are.

Unpack, change my clothes, have some food, and rest! Yesterday, I was supposed to fly out of Cleveland at 4:45 pm,, change planes in Denver, and make it to Eugene yesterday by 9:50 pm Pacific time. Supposed "runway damage" caused Cleveland plane to leave 3 hours late, so missed my Denver connection. Lady at the gate told a bunch of us to get on the plane and United in Denver would give us hotel vouchers for the night. Also, we could pick up our luggage in Denver before going to our hotels. All we had to do was see the United Customer Service agents in Denver. No problem, right???

Except, people at Customer Service in Denver said runway damage was not the fault of United so no vouchers, and by the way, there was no way we could get our luggage because it was marked for storage and then bound for our final destinations. Even showed us on their computers how United was not responsible, and what was the name of the person in Cleveland that told us this??? Needed documentation of that promise. I told her it was lady at Gate 25, but she said she had no idea who that was and why she told us we could get vouchers. People were yelling at her, and she was getting upset. I was beat, and it was 9 pm Denver time, so I started calling around for hotels. All were about $150, and I was still upset about what I had been told. (Next time will get names and in writing!)

After about half an hour, I walked over to the ticketing area and was asked if I needed help. Told them I was VERY unhappy with United, and that I was 75, traveling alone, was exhausted, and had been promised a hotel voucher. Two ticket agents listened to my story, took my boarding pass, and got on their computers. Long story short, they put me up in a Marriott in Denver, and one lady even walked me over to Marriott shuttle to make sure I found it OK.

It would have taken two hours to get my suitcase and clothing, but I had my electronics and meds, so said I could manage. Nice hotel and finally good service, but I did not sleep well because i had to be up and on shuttle again at 8:00 am. By the way, met a young man on the shuttle who had been delayed by weather and had gotten a voucher. So how is weather their "fault," but runway damage not their "fault"???

I got the name of the ticket agents in Denver and am going to call United to compliment those two, but also tell them about the one in Cleveland at Gate 25! I am VERY happy to be back to my home on wheels, and by the way, my refrigerator and freezer lasted 11 days on propane and was still running when I got back. All food is fine.

Glad you got home to your house on wheels Judy. I hate flying anymore. In fact I am not planning any flying trips in my near future. Such a hassle anymore. Didn't used to be, I flew all over for business in the 90s and loved it but now NAH.

Finally came in the house around 3pm. Neighbor called and wanted to know if I wanted to go with her to Home Depot and get a blended coffee LOL I didn't tell her I had already been there 5 times in the last 2 days LOL BUT the coffee definitely was a plus. So I hopped in for a quick shower and off we went. Now home relaxing. Still lots of things to do in the yard, will spread my mulch out front tomorrow and work on my water system on the side of the carport. I think it is fine but need to check it. Water system on the front patio just needs one sprinkler replaced. Then need to finish weeding my other raised bed and fertilize then will be ready to plant tomatoes and squash. Just dont have any more yard work in me for today. Emma is happy as she is one tired pup after following me around outside all day LOL Now she is curled up beside me sound asleep.

The page went from right to left and I lost my post. Sheesh.

Judy, I'm glad your fridge was still working when you got back.

We made it to SC today and tomorrow we will land in NC for awhile. We have a wedding to go to Saturday, but we'll go by car. Something happened to the latch on our car and we can't shut the door, so we taped it shut on the inside. We took tape and wrapped it around the arm rest and pulled the tape to the other side of the car and around that arm rest. While we were pulling the car behind us in the motorhome, the tape got lax and an alarm went off in the motorhome. So we took a long bungee cord and went from arm rest to arm rest and tied it off again. When we get to NC, we'll have someone fix it right. Good grief.

My trip experience proves once again how nice it is to travel by RV, especially compared to flying:

- You always have everything with you. No need to pack or lug around a heavy suitcase. And no luggage to get lost.
- If your plans change or the road is washed out, you can still find a place to park, fix a meal, take a hot shower, and crawl into your own bed.
- No need to use incredibly cramped and dirty airplane bathrooms when you have your own with you at all times.
- The food in your refrigerator is MUCH better than the airline pretzels and small glass of drink they give you! Plus, it is a lot less expensive than the $8 dried out sandwiches you buy in the airport.
- You never worry about leaving anything behind in a hotel room or on the plane.
- You have your own comfy chairs or lounger that is bigger and more comfortable than airline seats and there is no sharing of armrests.

And yes, I am very glad to be home, wherever it is that I park it!

Oh judy!!! I feel so bad for your airline experience. I think a lot of people don't fly anymore due to the horrible treatment and uncomfortable dirty planes that serve disgusting food! I would love to go back to Ireland but with the restrictions on taking water and food plus all the delays that happen guess I'll just remember all the past good times. DH says he is going to Scotland one more time and I told him he should fly first class. We have so many accumulated miles I would think would help with the cost and if it doesn't just pay the difference!

Went to WM for a few things and got more than what was on my list. I need to not go there hungry...came home with way too many goodies!

Had a showing today so that is when I went to WM. The couple yesterday haven't even put their house up for sale and live out of state. The guy who looked at it today already sold his house and is living with a friend close by. He is very interested and would be paying cash. Hopefully will get an offer tomorrow...

Karen, I didn't know Home Depot is also a coffee shop! Judy, glad you got a hotel room paid for. I imagine the airline will get an earful from a lot of others too.

Ahhhh. Scotland . . .

When I was a young woman, my (ex) husband was attending a conference in Brighton, England. I wanted in the very worst way to go to Loch Ness. My ex's only interest was in hob-nobbing with his buds, before, during, and after conference hours. He couldn't imagine anything more boring than a long train ride to a place he had absolutely no interest in visiting.

To make a long story short . . . I somehow figured out (at the very last minute, on the very last day I would be able to go before we would fly back to the U.S.) that there was an overnight train from Brighton to Inverness (Scotland). I had no time to make any kind of additional arrangements, I just ran for this train.

I woke up the next morning in Inverness about 8:00 a.m., having absolutely no idea how to get where I wanted to go.

By some strange magic (and this entire trip was magical) there was a kind of travel kiosk at the train station, I walked over and booked a bus to Drumnadrochit (I still remember this name so many years later because it did - and does! - sound so strange!). An hour or two later (I forget) I found myself in Drumnadrochit, again having no idea what to do next.

I asked around - in those days, in that place, a woman travelling alone was very unusual. I asked around the bus station - was very kindly and gently chided, with quite a bit of humor - "Aye! Ye wanna sae air wee menster, then?" - one older woman (who was probably the age that I am now) said that I could rent a bicycle, or that another bus would be going in about twenty minutes.

I was told the bus would pass along the shores of the loch - "Ye bae careful auld Nessie dinna getcha!" - with a brief stop near Urquhart castle. I was told I could get off the bus there and walk to the castle.

I had never before in my life heard of Urquhart castle.

I was only on the bus about ten minutes when it sighed to a stop at what looked like to me a wide spot on a narrow road that was bound by low hills all around, of the greenest green I have ever seen.

As the bus moved off, I whirled around, and didn't see anything - no loch, no castle, nothing!!. I had gotten off a bus right in the middle of no-where!! Spooked me, for sure. After my panic died down, I noticed a narrow dirt track on the other side of the road from where I stood. The path leading downwards, so decided to follow the path to see where it led over the lip of the hill - it was either that or just stand there until the bus returned several hours later.

And there it was.

Magnificent Urquhart castle, her glowing beige stones shrouded in mist, the blue loch lapping at her feet, as though thrust from a dream. I could hardly believe my eyes.

The path down the hill wasn't too long. I spent several hours exploring the ruined castle. It was almost totally silent, even in the battlements one could hear the water of the loch, lapping at the castle's foundation stones, far below. There were only four or five other people in the whole place. I was almost alone.

Scotland, Urquhart castle, and Loch Ness was, and remains, the most beautiful place I have ever been.

I could not stay long, I had only those few hours on that particular impromptu day to spend there. I sat in the grass below the castle walls and promised myself, and promised the castle, that I would return one day. I never have, and likely never will. It makes me weep to think of it.

About four years ago my daughter and her husband visited Scotland, and Urquhart castle, at my suggestion, and because of my stories of it. Although the castle itself was mostly unchanged, there is now a large paved parking lot, a modern visitor's center, a gift shop, and a small movie theatre showing a short film of the history of the castle, and of the loch. They found Scotland so lovely (as I had) their goal is to move there one day, if only for a little while.

The windswept solitude of Urquhart castle is no more.

I only wish that they could have seen it, as I had, standing majestic above the lapping waves, alone and shrouded in mist, at the end of a narrow, winding, grass-bordered path.

Nearly fifty years ago.
