Easter Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Easter Morning

Postby Irmi » Sun Apr 21, 2019 7:17 am

Happy Easter & good morning!

It is a brisk 55 degrees and we'll have a high around 76. The awful winds we had yesterday are finally gone.

Speaking of winds, I fell out of the motorhome yesterday, when the winds grabbed the door as I was going outside and I was thrown to the ground. I'm taking Ibuprofen for the pain, but I'm okay.

This morning is church, Steve & I are hosting the coffee hour afterwards and then we'll come home to prepare a couple sides for the going away dinner friends are holding for us.

Have a good Easter!

Happy Easter Irmi and all who follow. Irmi, glad your fall wasn’t more serious. I’m baking apple crisp and and arranging a fruit tray for our family dinner today. Enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Safe travels

Happy Easter and good morning. After upper 70's yesterday we won't see 50 today and rain! Spring :) Shirl, I'm virtually taking a big piece of that apple crisp. Yum. Irmi enjoy your last church service before heading north and the party to set you off. What fun.

For as late as Easter is this year, it sure does not feel like a spring Easter! Brrrr. At after 10 am here in Ohio, it is 42 degrees. Son and maybe one or two kids are going to downtown Cleveland and for a walk on the pier. I am staying home because last time we did that a couple of years ago, I froze!

Two kids got up in the middle of the night and snuck a peek at their Easter baskets. Then they were up at 7, but I slept in until 9:30 am. My son has a finished basement with a bedroom and bathroom down there, but it is chilly there no matter how warm upstairs so getting out of bed is hard. And tomorrow I head back to Oregon and then next weekend I go to Tillicum Beach for a week or so--will be cold there also this early in the season.

I am also glad your fall was not worse, Irmi. Falling is one thing I worry about, especially since I live alone. I guess at a campground someone would notice, however.

Good morning, YAY sunshine.....70's today and will be 82 on Wed. Love it. I have more planting to do and spreading of mulch so this is great weather. Irmi so glad you didn't bend or break anything important LOL take it easy cause it always hurts worse a day or two afterwards.

Judy you are missing the good weather here LOL We did have rain yesterday but it sure wasnt cold or windy. Just a light steady rain off an on all day.

Going to the clubhouse for Easter dinner tonite with my neighbors. I like how they celebrate the holidays with special dinners. Next one is Cinco de Mayo...............mmmmmmm tacos, it was so good last year. The owners made super good tacos and all the fixin's. I love living in a family owned park. Many times it is free and others $1 - $5 depending whether it is catered or not. Always a fun time.

Need to get dressed so I can go out and dig a couple of holes and plant my 2 bushes I bought the other day. Also need to spread my mulch after getting the last of the weeds out. Then need to check my automatic watering system and make sure no leaks. Change the batteries in a couple of my solar lights. Good day to be outside.

I decided to go to the grocery store last night about 6pm as it is usually really slow that time of night...well this girl forgot today was Easter so it was pretty busy last night. I usually go in the morning but knew I had things to do this morning.

I survived the week with my grandson and his mother. They were flying out this morning at 7:00. I guess they made the flight because I haven't heard anything. She is taking about coming back in July. I don't know that I can stand another week with her. My grandson is old enough to fly alone but I'm sure she wouldn't let him. He likes to be here without her.

It's a nice sunny day but a little windy. My refrigerator is full of leftovers so I'm not going to cook. My son's girlfriend is going to her mother's. My son would rather stay home and sleep instead of eating here.

Tomorrow I have to bring 2 cats to the spay and neuter clinic. I better put up a note so I remember to shut them up. Tuesday Stinky has to go to the vet to get her teeth cleaned. I didn't plan all this very well. I might have to get another small kennel.

Irmi, glad you didn't break something. My newer motorhome is higher and I have to be careful not to fall. All the wind we have been having catches my storm doors and almost breaks them. My company kept forgetting to latch them when they went in or out.

Happy Easter! Still hanging out in bed...

My roommate left me a little Easter basket but I haven't looked at it yet, but that was sweet of her!

No plans today. I had thought of going to Balboa Park but then realized they have a bunch of Easter stuff going on for kids so I figured I will go on a quieter day. Should do laundry today tho.

Irmi, so glad you didn't get hurt in that fall! You probably just got bruised up and pulled some muscles. Will hurt for a few days.

Hope the rest of you have a good Easter :D

I discovered an abandoned baby duckling in the creek earlier today. I found a neighbor who has a stairway going down to the creek to seek if I could catch him in my net, but no luck. He swam away from me and went back up towards my house. I waded thru the creek to follow him as far I was was safely able to go but had to turn back when it got too deep. I have called several wildlife rescue places out here but they all seem to have taken the day off so will have to wait until tomorrow morning and hope he is still down there. I can hear him going back and forth chirping for his mom. There are some mild rapids just upstream and down stream from me so I think he feels trapped between them. Am hoping some ducks will fly in and maybe adopt him or lead him to where ever his mom is.

Found two monarch caterpillars today in the garden so I brought them inside. They are pretty good sized, so hoping they will make their chrysalis soon. :D

My roommate brought me back some leftovers from her son's Easter dinner gathering. :D

Barbie, a couple days ago I was reading an article about an owl who was raising a duckling in a nesting box.

Image

The experts explained that sometimes ducks lay eggs in other nests than their own as a method of ensuring the survival of their genes. Apparently the duckling soon flew out of the nest and headed for a nearby pond. Also in the explanation the experts stated that ducks are “precocial” which means they’re able to survive on their own from a very young age. Hopefully your little duckling will be OK if you're not able to catch it.

Thanks, very interesting! I know sometimes other female ducks will adopt orphaned ducklings so maybe that will happen, as I get ducks in the creek pretty often.

This is the day after! I had a very nice dinner at the old Lodge, built by the CCC, in Carbondale, with BJ! In What a beautiful area she lives. Some red bud and dogwood still blooming. Enjoyed seeing her large SIU.
Left this morning, after over sleeping. Was up at 5:30 doing you know what, then went back to bed. Slept till 8:30 !
An driving north. Will probably take three days to get to Madison, WI....the way I drive!
Was having trouble with my gmail, that was fixed, now having trouble with getting into Facebook! For some reason my Facebook password changed?
Must return to the road! Oh yes, I too worry about falling, and I can’t get up! Thank heavens you wern’t Seriously hurt, Irma!!!
