Sunshiny Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshiny Monday

Postby Colliemom » Mon Apr 15, 2019 7:03 am

Morning Everybody. Just a quick check in this morning before I head out the door. Appt. and errands to take care of. Snow finally quit in wee hours of morning. Looks like couple inches, maybe bit more. Will push the shovel along walk on way to garage. The rest will melt by itself.

Beth, glad it’s warming up out there. Shelia, good luck getting going and safe travels. Cheryl, have fun waterfall hunting if you go. Hope Lyn is still enjoying TN and Mitch’s hospitality. O’Sharon, you ready to roll? Barbie, sorry about the house buyer backing out. I’m sure more will come along.

Looks like a mild, wet week coming up. Planning to uncover my trailer after this wet weather is over. In meantime will finish up ga4sge project and give this house good cleaning. Also hoping to meet with the builder who is going to replace my front bow window. Things starting to happen around here now that weather is cooperating. Time to move along. Have a great day out there.

The title of today's post should have been something like "Whatever happened to Spring???" But Sue is much too optimistic for that. :)

I am in Ohio, south of Cleveland, and it is literally almost freezing here. Had a few flakes of snow in the early morning, even. Visiting son and grandkids for the week. Went out to fantastic deli restaurant last night that serves real kosher corned beef and pastrami sandwiches--incredible! So I bought a pound of pastrami and am freezing it to take home on the plane. You just cannot get the real stuff west of the Mississippi. Lack of really good ethnic food (other than Mexican) is my biggest complaint in spending so much time in the western states. Might try to also find some good fresh polish sausage out here and smuggle it back to Oregon! Will have to triple bag it because the real stuff has so much garlic and spices it would stink everything up, like the whole plane.

Looks partly sunny/partly cloudy here from my view out the window from bed.

I was thrilled that Tiger Woods won the Masters golf tournament yesterday! It was a nail-biter tho for all three days. Great tournament to watch with so many players taking over the lead from hole to hole right to the end.

Am feeling a big letdown on the buyer backing out. :( Need to feel more optimistic about another one coming along soon. I just worry about losing the other house if I don't close on this one in time.

Not feeling very motivated today. Trying to think of something fun to do. So far I can't think of a good reason to get out of bed...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I got back from my campout yesterday afternoon. It's only about 65 miles from here. I like the short drives. We had a great time in spite of the weather. The wind was really blowing all the time. Most of the bad weather went North of us and it just rained some Saturday. The mexican train players took over the laundry room when it got too windy and cold. It got cold Saturday night and I finally had to turn the heat on. That's Louisiana weather, air conditioning in the day time and heat at night.

They came and installed my microwave this morning. After they left I decided to check the vent and they didn't tape the pipes together. I will have to get some of the silver tape.

My grandson and his mother arrived in Lafayette. His mother rented a car at the air port so I am just waiting on them. I hope they ate on the way because I never know what to cook for them. His mother has such a weird diet. I haven't eaten out with her in years but that was a trip. She had to give the waitress the third degree about how things are cooked and what is in something.

I better go move a vehicle off the carport so they can park.

Had a busy somewhat frustrating day. Water pipe to house was leaking and my handyman dug and found at least 2 holes with tree roots trying to get through. Temp fix tonight and permanent tomorrow. Mandy cat had a bout of respiratory distress after coughing and may be heading to asthma. Vet said let's try different form of hyperthyroid RX and get Internal Medicine consult at UCDavis vet hospital. (yes $$$ running through my head, but she's worth it). Washer still broken, parts on order. Tried calling IRS about Mel's missing 1099, but they can't help due to privacy!!! They were sympathetic about Navy sending wrong firm and not answering its phones. So I made my best guess, see a tiny refund due and send extension until I track down the 1099. Next year will be easier. tomorrow will be a better day and 85 later in week vs today's 55!

Velda -

Sorry to hear about the ongoing health issues of Mandycat. It is so tough when the fur babies get ill.

About UC Davis: I had occasion to take Big Joe to the small animal clinic there last year. I was very impressed. The staff was friendly, caring, and professional, and (most importantly!) knowledgeable. And the cost wasn't off-the-charts like one might expect.

Frankly, if UC Davis wasn't about a 3-hour round-trip drive from me, I would consider making the UC Davis Small Animal Clinic my "regular vet".

Hope your experience there is as good as mine was. Please keep us posted.

My Big Joe killed a full-sized rat in my backyard yesterday (I live in a solidly middle-class neighborhood, so go figure). Just a big terrier doing his terrier job, I guess. :o

He was pretty pleased with himself, but it's off to the vet with him to be sure no "job-related" health issues crop up.

Good luck with Mandycat.
