And Now It’s Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And Now It’s Saturday

Postby Colliemom » Sat Apr 06, 2019 8:23 am

Good Morning from the 45th. Not sure if I’m awake or not, but guess I must be if I’m typing this  Piper knows I usually get up around 6 a.m. this time of year, so feels it’s her duty to make sure I do, whether or not I want to. Or maybe it’s just cause she wants the bed  And Molly likes to go out during the night and sleep on the deck for awhile  so no such thing as a straight night’s sleep some nights. Then once I’m up, they snuggle down and go back to sleep   Ah, life with fur kids.

Spending some time researching beds and mattress toppers for my trailer. I have a pretty good mattress in there, but it’s a heated mattress with the coils on top and uncomfortable to sleep on with them under me. Came with the trailer. Got a 4 inch thick foam mattress on top, but adds a lot of weight to mattress for getting into the underbed storage and is beginning to soften a little. It’s interesting reading different sites about others have.

Decided to go visit friends today. Will resume work on project tomorrow. Didn’t work out there yesterday as was a damp and bit chilly day. Warming into 50’s this weekend into Tuesday. Then downhill and looking at a big winter storm by week’s end :? Judy, hope you have some success on your shower handles.

Anyway, coffe is ready, so come in and get some. And have a nice day too :)

Apparently my computer decided to play an April Fool’s joke on me and I couldn’t sign in until today! Contacted Beth and she got me headed in the right direction. Yes, I did remember to say Rabbits while watching a movie after midnight on Sunday. Certainly hope that this month is better for our area. March was pretty depressing with dams breaking causing flooding and major destruction that took place for some of our neighbors in Nebraska and Iowa and areas of the western parts of South Dakota. The fields were saturated after an extremely wet fall and many farmers didn’t get all their crops harvested. They hoped to get them harvested this spring and still have time to plant crops this year. It doesn’t look promising because they are predicting a snow storm for this coming Wednesday with 6” of snow. I’m afraid we’re going to see many farmers going under in the future since many have lost equipment, livestock and buildings due to the flooding. I foresee a major increase in grocery prices if a good part of the Midwest cannot produce this year. To top things off our local furniture store burned to the ground on March 26th leaving a half a block of our main street empty. For those of you have visited me know that is a big chuck of our main street!

The upside of March was Bronc celebrated his 5th birthday. He is growing up way too fast. He was so excited because his birthday present from Ashley and Ryan was tickets to PBR Bull Riding. Hurricane Haddie is one busy little lady and can try a person’s patience in short order! Our Lady Jack Rabbits made it to the Sweet 16! They lost their game to Oregon on Friday. :( But hey…it’s further than they have every gone before! (Thanks for thinking of me, Lyn!) I have been following them because Macy Miller’s (pretty much their star player) mother was one of my students. On another note one of my former students was installed as president of the University of South Dakota. First female president of the college.

I can’t comment on all the things I have read but please know that I read almost daily and since positive thoughts.

Safe travels. Anyone who plans to travel in the Midwest over the summer had better check state websites for road closings because there are numerous roads and bridges that have been washed out because of flooding.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Mornin' Sue & all that follow~~~
Got the TT back from the accident yesterday. Looks good. Now still have to wait and see if I get reimbursed for anything once my insurance goes after his. Fingers crossed.

TT is currently parked on Dad's driveway again until I can figure out what direction to head and make some reservations. Alot of CGs aare booked already for summer months, so I may have to wing it.

That's the news from me. Have a good day ladies and stay safe wherever you are.

Good morning Sue, Pat, Cheryl & everyone!

Sue, we have a 4" memory foam mattress on top of our mattress in the motorhome. The mattress was comfortable and brand new when we bought the RV, and I had heard so much about the memory foam and am not sorry we made the purchase.

Pat, it's good hearing from you! That's a shame about the weather in the Midwest.

Cheryl, so glad you got your trailer back. Have fun on your trip.

It's finally warm in Ocala again and I love the temperatures in the 80's. On the first Sunday of the month, we have a potluck after church and I offered to make potato salad so I just put the potatoes on. Still need to hard boil the eggs and chop and fry the bacon. Then I'll put it all together. Only three more Sunday's to play in church and we'll leave to head north the day after Easter. We have an 8:00 appointment Monday to have the car serviced and the following week, the motorhome is going in for its service.

Have a good day!

Glad you made it on, Pat. I love your commentaries. I keep changing my last days of travel to arrive in Keystone. That Wed drop in temp and snow is not welcome! First I asked about arriving Tuesday, but not sure electric will be on. So I just texted I'll probably arrive Friday. The few degrees warmer in Nebraska will carry me over.. But anything can still change! Sue , I'm guessing what's coming through SD is what you'll be seeing. Pat, I'm told 79 will be ok, but am still worried. I've seen all the pictures of the Pine Ridge reservation flooded and that travels right through that area.

It's hard to believe Bronc is 5! Haddie is probably about the age he was when I was there... And she wasn't born!

Irmi, your talk about the potato salad has me craving egg salad. I guess I need to take care of the eggs, too.

Hi All, I am camped about 50 miles north of Amarillo. On the map, the HUGH recreation area looks wonderful! Warning...do not come here unless you have a detailed, very detailed map of this area! My site last night was in a canyou with, of course, no phone service. So this morning, went on further, turned into a dirt road, got rougher and rougher, then turned around to go back. Bent mt steps again, Cheryl!!! And, they were working so well! After I got up on a Mesa, went further, with phone service. Then, came to a dead end with a large turn around spot. Drove in a circle till I found 3 bars and level. Very remote here. This is a rest and shower day for me. It was an adventure I would not wish on anyone.
Good back up experience though!
Haven’t paid for camping yet. Heading for a COE in OK with electricity tomorrow.

Great to hear from Pat. And yes, the main street of Avon just isn't that long. I look forward to hearing about the Irmi and Steve travels back to Maryland and how fast they can get those crab cakes made. Lyn, I also look forward to reading about your wanderings as you make your way across the nation towards MN. It will all serves to remind me that I am working for a reason and inspire me to keep focused on what matters.

My success of the first week was to not gain any of my pounds back. This will be a challenge with so much time spent sitting but so far I have been able to turn off my craving for "sweets" and hold tight to my "positive" altered concept of portions. I will need to take this week by week. (Sort of like AA, I can't ever forget that I have a history of not respecting food and my body.) I also remind myself daily how much better I feel and move. Lark does her best to support me with her not so quiet reminders about her need for "hikes" "hikes" "and more hikes!"

I was going to heat something in the microwave and the light flickered a couple of times and went zzzzzzzzzz. Now the microwave doesn't work. :( I don't have time to try to find one until after my camping trip. I might have to move out to the camper. The last time I had to replace the microwave no one wanted to install it. I hope the last place I went to is still in business.

Lyn, hope you don't have anymore adventures before you get out of that area.

Irmi is going to go back to Maryland and start talking about bushels of crabs and make me start looking for someplace to eat boiled crabs.

Hank didn't get his walk yesterday because it started raining. I don't know if I'm up for another long walk. The wind is blowing 90 to nothing again.

Am in Beatty, NV, tonight, heading north to Eugene a bit at a time. And yes, I did install my shower handles. I took a bunch of photos and will post them on my blog later tonight. It was not easy. I strongly suspect that they installed the handles on the shower wall before they put the shower stall in the RV!! Taking the old handles off was hard because of the cramped space in the access panel, which is on the kitchen wall, but putting the new ones in was a lot harder because it was difficult to line up the water connection bolts properly onto the plastic things that stuck through the wall and get them screwed on straight. I finally had to loosen the bolts that fastened it the wall so I could push the faucet into the shower partly. That gave me enough room. Plus I also had to push on the flexible wall to give me enough space. By the time I was done, I was sweating and shaky.

The good news is that it looks great and does not leak. Cost of handle was about $22, so it was a cheap fix.

Oh, Martha, if you get a new microwave, save the glass plate and the little center parts it rests on, especially the little thing in the middle. These are almost impossible to replace. My glass plate broke once when I drove off with the microwave door not fully closed. Cost on Amazon was $45, and they were on back order, but an RV dealer/service place had saved a bunch of them and gave me one free!!! I almost had to replace the microwave just to get the plate!!!
