And Now It’s Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And Now It’s Tuesday

Postby Colliemom » Tue Mar 12, 2019 7:41 am

A Good Morning to you all! Cold morning to start, but heading to 40 today. That’s a heat wave for us

After reading Tina’s post about carrying extra charging cords for phone etc., I got to thinking that I should probably get some extras to keep in my trailer rather than cart them back and forth from the house every time I go camping. Maybe put one in truck too although my rule has always been to keep my phone turned off and in it’s case when I am driving. Let’s face it, even if you are synced to your vehicles on board system, the minute that phone rings, your mind is off your driving. I figure that’s what voicemail’s for. I can check phone when I stop someplace. MI has a law against texting and driving of course, but now they are talking of one that will prohibit any type of communication, videos etc.to be sent or received via an electronic device i.e. phone, computer, tablet camera etc. and also wearing of earphones in both ears while driving. Too many distracted drivers out of there. And accidents caused by them.

O’Sharon, sounds like you had a fun trip looking for elk. One of these days I’ll have to come back and do more exploring. Should go back to Gettysburg again as it was so hot when I was there, I couldn’t do some things. And the Deleware Water Gap area begs a trip too. Barbie, PA isn’t the only state over this way that has elk. The Pigeon River Country State Forest, also called the “Big Wild” about 30 miles NE of me here, is home to the largest elk herd east of the Mississippi. I don’t know what this year’s count showed, but the herd usually runs around 1200-1300 animals. Shelia, that hot fudge sounds good. I’ll run right out there for a hot fudge Sunday  Except I’m not eating sweets.

Errand running morning here and not sure what rest of day will bring. Rain coming next two days, so fur kids and I will take a nice look no walk in today’s sunshine. Guess I should get a move on. Y’all have a great day!

Since I started using my phone for my GPS I have to have a cord in all the vehicles. Well unless I want the phone to run out of juice...

Tina what holder do you use for your phone while using it for GPS? And, yes, the GPS gobbles up the charge so it must
be plugged in to charge.

I usually use my phone as my GPS also. I've preferred it for years.

Well, be careful what we ask for. I consider spring and wind go together and it seems to be happening. That said, I went to bed expecting to wake up to rain and instead woke up to bright sunshine. And the winds hadn't started to cine in yet. Almost noon and clouds and wind are moving in. No problem... I have nothing planned.

I too have discovered I like my iPhones GPS! If son is with me, he holds it and looks ahead. If I'm alone, I just set it on the other seat. I'm never tempted to answer while driving. If I recognize the spoken caller ID, I find a place to stop or call back when I get to where I'm headed.
It's bound to rain today- I'm meeting my nursing school classmates for lunch and every time we have done that (this is 4th in 7 months) it has managed to rain even when it wasn't predicted and though sun earlier, rain clouds are moving in! If you need rain, call on class of 71 Nursing from Chico!
I have a long to do list, which lately I'm not making much progress on, but maybe spring will kick me into gear.

I had tried some holders in the past but never really liked them. Too much fuss and bother to get them to fit snuggly. I now have a magnet on the back of my phone case. Yes it adds a little bit of weight to the phone but it means that I just reach up and place it on the magnet that is positioned in the vehicle. The magnet in the RV is directly attached to a spot on the dash. The magnets in the Honda Fit and the minivan are attached to a little thingy that fits on the front vents and is easily removable. It works for me.

I have purchased products from stores like Odd Lots but I think you can also find them at some Walmarts and of course places like Best Buy......

Tina I’ve been looking at those magnet things. I worried the one on vent might eventually break the vent. So you have used it a while?

Yesterday, it got up to 68 here in Napa, and today it will be 65--sunny both days. I took the opportunity to clean and straighten one of my storage bins. Everything was wet and moldy. I really need to go through the others but just do not have time with visiting kids and finishing end of semester stuff. Will do more cleaning when I get to Las Vegas, which I hope will be dry and sunny.

Older son said yesterday that I should expect to stop driving soon, as I am getting older! That matches younger son's comment a couple of years ago that I only had one good year left!!

I have the small round magnetic phone holders on the dashboards in the truck and the Sling. I bought them from Amazon.

I also have charging cords everywhere along with a portable charger to carry in my purse or backpack.

Thanks for the phone holder info. With my last cell, I used the magnet with the vent holder. Worked OK but would occasionally
fall off. When I first got the magnet, I accidentally put the magnet on the cell case crooked and never could get it off so
it remained like that until I got a new phone and case.

Do you use WAZE from your cell? Seems to work as well as a dedicated GPS.

Good afternoon. I did my good deed for today....took my neighbor to the airport at 4am. So I got up at 3:15 to make sure I had time for a cup of coffee. Came home, cruised the internet, ate breakfast, watched the news. Then I was chilly so Emma and I went and laid down on the bed and I slept until 11am WOW well okay now I am caught up on sleep. Hope I can sleep tonite tho, that is why I dont nap it screws up my sleep patterns LOL

Got my two new toilet seats installed. What a bugger getting the old ones off, but finally won that battle. Didn't even screw up my back despite the tight quarters. New ones are looking good.

Making enchiladas for dinner in a while and that will probably be it for the day. Need to watch a couple of movies I have pegged on Netflix. Will see how they are, sometimes they sound good but are not my cup of tea.

Rainy and windy off and on today but the rest of the week looks promising.

Karen, you really are a good neighbor to get up that early. I usually wake up about 4 or 5 to go to the bathroom. I managed to sleep until after 8 this morning. I need to quit drinking coke til midnight.

I haven't driven the old camper in a while so took it shopping today. There is another TJ Maxx in New Iberia so I went over there. Found some more jeans on clearance. Probably because they are a tall and no one wants to have to hem them. I have to hem almost every pair of pants I buy so I am use to it. I will probably have to cut about 6 inches off. lol I was afraid I would have to go to Sam's to get a corned beef brisket but found one at the local grocery store. I can only find corned beef the week before and after St Patricks day. Next week there will be plenty on sale at Sam's. I am going to try a different recipe this year. The last one I cooked with cabbage and potatoes I didn't care for.

Coming home I was worried because the camper was pulling to the right hard. I finally noticed that the grass and weeds on the side of the road were bent over. It was the wind that was pushing me. I forget about the wind when I don't drive that box for a while. After I got home I got a call that I had to go back to town to sign some papers.

I finally got a new tablet. It remains to be seen if I can use it. I have it on my list to look for something to hold my GPS. I find it too hard to see to use my phone for a GPS.

Anita you are alive I was thinking today that I hadn't seen you anywhere for awhile... so good to see you. When you coming to Q?
you will laugh at my GPS holder yes I use the garman bigger screen... but it's like this if too close I can't read it as normally I have to take glasses off to read... if it's too far away can't see it so the space between the two seats seems to work for awhile. I fill a zip lock with trail mix and tuck the gps up against it and can see and fix the angle works till I run out of trail mix
woke up to rain lots of rain ...debated about going to choir practice and indexing it stopped raining so I took Shadow out was getting ready to leave when I saw Kerry leaving (I was concerned about the wash) thought if she doesn't come back should be ok cause if her little car can do it my truck can
came home and turned on the hot water heater so I could do the dishes actually did them... fixed supper for Alice and me.. need to call dd but they are an hour ahead of us now so it might be too late to call..
it's been a cold day been wanting to turn the heater on but didn't want to because it is March 12 and I shouldn't need heat in the day time ...
my sister had to have sugary today it was to scrape away the infected area but did it under anesthesia. hopefully they will figure out the best treatment for this infection and a clear reason for her getting infections so easy ... so that is my day

I went down to San Diego this morning to finally pick up the ferret food and supplies from the San Diego Humane Society. I will take them with me to Palm Springs next week when I go out there for the bus tour to Anza Borego to see the wildflowers. I will meet a volunteer there coming from Phoenix who works with a ferret shelter there. They can really use all this stuff. Lots of food, litter, food bowls, toys and treats. Since ferrets aren't legal here in CA, the SDHS has no use for the ferret things that have been donated to them.

Anyways, all the way down (on the freeway)to SD and back (along the coast), there were millions of small black and orange butterflies flying all over everywhere! They are Painted Ladies butterflies. They look similar to Monarchs but are smaller and have some white on their wings too. Apparently, with all the rain causing lots of plants to grow, they were able to lay lots more eggs and those eggs all hatched out this past week and now they are all looking for flowers! So cool!

Made a couple stops along the way home, one at the SRF meditation garden in Enicinitas, which is one of my favorite spots to visit. Then had lunch and checked out a couple shops. Came home and took a nap for a couple hours. One thing about this cold, is if I push myself too much, I really get worn out easily.

Off to bed now...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
