Slow moving Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Slow moving Tuesday

Postby Bethers » Tue Mar 05, 2019 11:35 am

My friend Ginger has been visiting for a few days now. She spent a couple days/nights with me at Pancho Villa SP and yesterday we moved to Leasburg SP. Today we have plans but as neither of us are morning people we aren't hurrying. Yesterday we went through Hatch, NM and stopped at the local grocery. Loved the deli there and will go back. It's a new store to Hatch and already very popular.

Time to start moving. Have a great day everyone.

I am a morning person as far as getting up out of bed. BUT takes a couple of cups of coffee, watch the news, check FB and email. THEN I can get busy. I like to get busy by 9am so kind of plan my early morning accordingly. I need to vacuum the shampooed part of the living room, then vacuum the other half and shampoo it, then I only have the guest bedroom to do. It always looks so nice when I get done. Having beige carpeting, rain and a dog it needs it several times a year. Finished weeding the side yard yesterday so need to move on to the front yard today before it rains tonite would be great.........we shall see.

Had to fill the bird feeder again today.........wow those are some seriously hungry birds LOL I wanted to get my car washed but never made it to the car wash and it is supposed to rain for the next few days so think I will just skip it for now.

Motorhome gets dewinterized this month, then off to Albany Oregon for the dog show I am volunteering at on Thursday the end of the month. Will get to see my BFF Laura as she is volunteering also. Should be fun. I dont know squat about dog shows so I am in the hospitality room............I can chat up anyone LOL Looking forward to getting out of town for a while tho for sure.

Feeling crappy again this morning. I have a friend stopping over this afternoon so I want to get things cleaned up a bit around here before then. Later, I need to stop at the library to pick up some books on hold there and then go pick up the ferret stuff. Oh, that reminds me, I need to empty out my car before I do that! Another thing for my to-do list.

At least the sun is out! :D

Today is the first really sunny day we have had in a long time and it's too cold to go outside. It actually got down to 32 last night and they are saying 29 tonight. As usual, I'm hoping they are wrong. Today is Fat Tuesday and the end of Mardi Gras. I'm sure it is really crazy in Lafayette.

I wish it wasn't so cold. The wind has pushed the floating island of weeds in the pond up against the bank. I would like to take the rake and pull as much of it out as I can. Maybe it will warm up later.

Karen, I wish I had your ambition to clean house. I'm doing good to run the Roomba. I got the vacuum out yesterday to clean up some broken glass in the kitchen and the vacuum is still in the floor. I accidentally knocked a glass off the counter when all the cats were in the kitchen. Talk about a cat explosion. They went everywhere.

Starting to sprinkle out. We had planned a trip over to the Dixon National Cemetery, as today is six months since Mel died, but I won't join the crazies on I-80 in rain. We will choose another day. I could say its a contemplative, sad day, but it's really no different than most days, trying to bring back memories of the good times while pushing aside the terrible days of his long illness, many surgeries and treatments, and his pain. I still have so much to do on my long to do list related to his passing plus new stuff. Yesterday when I got my annual registration renewal from our DMV, it said my van has a recall and I can't renew until that's cleared! That means trying to get an appointment with a Mercedes dealer, but I need new batteries so now have to push that to front of my list! Ugh! I'm a go to sleep late and procrastinate in morning type, but as it approaches noon I need to get going here.
Have a good Tuesday.

Made it into California and have stopped in Yreka. There is a little rain and I drove through a little wet snow on the Siskiyou Pass, but the road was just wet, not icy. Stopping right now for a McDonald's sandwich and then continuing to Redding where it will be a tad warmer. Needed a break, but hoping to make it rest of the way.

Made it to Redding, although this was probably the slowest drive I have ever made since it was rain most of the way south of Medford. I mostly drove 50 MPH or less. I have 183 miles to drive tomorrow in more rain so will take it easy. Planning on sleeping in tomorrow and getting a late start!! Good to be back on the road, however.

you sound like me Velda late to bed and procrastinate getting up   sure describes my mornings...
Indexed today did find out that my pump problem was either where I plug it into the truck was either dirty and it self cleaned or it just wasn't put in tight... friends came out and he plugged it in and it started pumping did find out the the lights will go out after awhile of being left on.. all the sudden the pump stops and we look at each other and at the pump and wonder what in the world... and then realize that the lights are out that time I started the truck and turned the lights on. but now have water trying to organize my week so that I can leave for Vegas... sister said that it is suppose to rain on Monday and for some reason the roads get super slick when raining so think I will leave on Sunday right after church... I will have to take into notice that they will no longer be an hour behind us... so I won't gain an hour... oh well I won't have rush hour traffic to contend with...
want to defrost the fridge before I go as well... things to do so really need to not procrastinate that getting up in the AM

Martha, that just cracked me up picturing them all scattering in every direction! Emily is very skittish and she does that at every little noise or unexpected movement. Lots of cats would be hilarious!

Got quite a bit of cleaning done in spite of not feeling good. I didn't go get the ferret stuff because by the time I was ready to go, I realized it is at their San Diego location, not their Oceanside location and they closed an hour later and it would take me at least that long to get down there during rush hour. Will have to find another day to pick it up.
Did get to the library, Target, Walmart and PetSmart.

I bought the stuff I need for the vinegar solution to use on the weeds. Now I need to wait for the rain that started awhile ago, to stop. Supposed to be a break in the action on Thursday and then another storm system coming on Friday.

Have a good night!

My Napa son and his family have three cats that at least used to go in and out through a cat door. (One is elderly and now stays in my grandson's bedroom because the other cats are too rough.)

During the Napa earthquake three years ago, my daughter-in-law was out of town with a friend and the kids were with their grandparents, so it was my son and the cats. When the earthquake hit, all three cats made it out of the cat door in about three seconds. My son said he was insulted that they did not even stop to wake him up! Cats do not wait for politeness, so I can visualize them scattering.

We made the mistake of starting the treat habit. If they hear me in the kitchen any that are in the house will be sitting under my feet waiting for a treat. They really aren't getting much of a treat but they don't know that. Cat treats cost about 3 or 4 times what the food costs so I just buy a bag of different kind of food. When CC was little he had one of the toys that holds treats. I can't use that anymore because most of them know how to get the treats out now.

Sometimes they do.

I knew a person - the father of a couple of my kids friends - who had cats. He lived at the time in a very nice rural area here in the lower Sierra foothills.

One night, for some reason he didn't understand, he woke up with all three cats on his chest, clawing him. He said they had never done that before, so it startled him, and woke him right up. Half-asleep, looking out the window, he could see brightness outside, so supposed it was time to get up, that he must have over-slept.

He hadn't.

His house was on fire, the front of his house totally involved, flames just the other side of his closed bedroom door. This fire was another bad one, the main difference from the Paradise fire is that not as many people live/ed in Loma Rica as live/ed in Paradise.

He took the few seconds it took to throw his cats out the bedroom window (luckily he kept his car keys in his bedroom, outside there was fire everywhere). The cats scattered (tried to catch them, couldn't), got in his car and roared away, flames on all sides.

The cats survived. His house, outside structures, neighbor's homes - all burned to the ground.

He said that if it were not for his cats, he would be dead.
