Sleepy Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sleepy Monday

Postby BarbaraRose » Mon Mar 04, 2019 11:55 am

The sun is out this morning and I hear a Mourning Dove outside. Haven't heard one of those for quite awhile.

Feeling crappy this morning with a full-blown cold and sore throat. I have been using the ZiCam nasal swabs but they don't seem to be working, so will go back to the rapid melts. I have to eat before taking those since they totally wreck my tastebuds for awhile. I work at 3 so will just take it easy til then.

The guy across the street who had the stroke won't be coming home again. One of his daughters who lives in New York City, is planning to move out here and move into his house. She and her other sister (Sacramento) have been taking turns coming here to visit him.

My next door neighbor had to move out for awhile because her house was full of mold. They were supposedly done with the house last week and the woman's son brought her home but apparently the house was a mess and nothing was put back (both bathroom sinks were still out on the porch!) so he brought her back to her hotel. The restoration crew is back today doing lots of work in the house again. I hope she has good insurance!

I have tried in vane to get ahold of family members to let them know I am not attending the wedding. I have sent e-mails, text messages, voicemails, tried to contact some on FB, etc, but have gotten no response from anyone. So I am sending a hand written letter to my nephew and his fiance. I am even more sure of my decision now.

Once I feel better, I will try the vinegar treatment on my weeds. The crap I bought and sprayed on last week barely did anything.

Also need to pick up some more flea meds for the cats. They are overdue for that and I got a couple bites the past two days.

Made strawberry shortcake the other day. So good! :D

Have a good day and those out east and south, stay safe, warm and dry! Such awful weather back there now! :o
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, hope you get to feeling better. I have been lucky this winter. I can't remember the last time I was sick. Maybe I just have a short memory. I was thinking about strawberries this morning. We use to buy a flat of strawberries at work when they were selling them on the side of the road. There was a dip we made but I can't remember what was in it. My favorite pie is the fresh strawberry pie at Piccadilly Cafateria. Darn, now I'm thinking about pie.

The sun was out for a little while but it's not warm. The people that are going to parades today and tomorrow are going to freeze. It seems like there was something I wanted to do today but what ever it was I have forgotten.

I need to put flea treatments on the outside cats. They hate it so I don't like to do it. I can get a treatment on a couple and as soon as they smell it they scatter. The new cat was back on Saturday but didn't see her yesterday or this morning. I wonder if she belongs to the neighbors up on the highway. She isn't overly fat but eats with my cats. This morning Hank kept whining and half way barking. Not like he barks when someone drives up to the barn. I finally put a robe on and went to see what he was whining about. There was a broken pipe on the front of the barn spraying water all over. I don't know if that was what he was trying to tell me but when I shut off the well he shut up.

It is a frigid 17 degrees here! At least we only got about 3" inches of snow and not the 6" they were predicting over the weekend

Tina keep warm getting home supposed to be back i single digits again tonight.

Martha your Hank is a water alert dog, while Mitzi is a poop alerter!

Barbie hope you feel better soon and yes, try the vinegar, those weed killers will kill your butterflies and bees!

Hope everyone can stay dry and warm!! Think spring!

Yes, it is really a sleepy Monday. I awakened at 6:30, but kept going back to dozing. I didn't get up until 8:00....late for me!!!
Barbie, your pictures were SPECTACULAR!!! I'M sharing them with everyone!
Speaking of reunions, my class had 200 kids in it. The last reunion I went to, was the last one for me as they all seemed so OLD!!! Now tho, some have organized a LAST REUNION. This one will be for 70 years...so I am going. It is $30 for a champagne, or'dervs and lunch at at the San Diego Yacht Club. Quite reasonable price and nice setting. So many have died I'm wondering how many will be there.
Had a nice day yesterday with the daughter, couple of grands and couple of greats.
Hoping all of you in those horrible storms stay safe!!! It's nice here and o'cast.

Still have the sun and warmer temps today but changing Wed and Thursday to rain. We still need it so not complaining (well not a lot anyway). Not the frigid temps but right around freezing in the am.

Took Emma for a long walk this morning, I was warm when I got home. Then I vacuumed half the living room and shampooed the carpet tomorrow will do the other half. Doesn't take too long really so I should do it more often.

Remembered to add my coast reservations to my calender so I remember the exact dates. Going for a week to Florence, OR. You have to make coast reservations way ahead of time especially if you want to be there over a weekend. Still not sure where else I will be going yet but shouldnt be too much of a problem if I stay away from the popular spots inland. Only other plans are the Pow Wow in October. We only spend one day there and the rest relaxing and sightseeing around the town. Won't make reservations until April 1st or so.

Think I might go out and do a bit more weeding this afternoon after lunch when it warms up. It is shady in the morning so afternoon will work much better.

That’s the problem with high school reunions—you have to hang around with all those OLD people :D

Best part is that cute young guy you had a crush on and was not interested in you now is bald and has a paunch on him!!o

I went to high school in Shreveport. The senior class was about 700 so I only had a couple of friends. My dad retired 2 months into my senior year and we moved to a wide place in the road that had a school that was 1st thru 12th. The senior class was 32. Needless to say I was very mad. I had offers to stay in Shreveport and graduate but my dad was having none of that. He might have had to pay someone something. I decided that I wasn't going to graduate and wouldn't even let them measure me for a gown. They graduated me anyway. I went on to college with about half the class so ended up having more friends from that class. The school decided to start having one reunion every 5 years for everyone. That was ok for about the first 2 but the last one very few showed up. At least I have my sister to go with since she went to the same school, just 7 years behind me. Since I was only there for 7 months I only knew the senior class but evidently younger students knew who I was. There are people that talk to me and I have no idea who they are.

got water in the barrel went to use the pump to get it into the tank and didn't work not sure if I didn't push it in far enough to plug it in or if something is wrong again... also found out the brake like is out... some to take care of that and get the oil changed . need to see if I can get it in here.
actually did the have's to today other that getting the water into the tank so guess that is something...
had a cook out with a bunch of friends was a nice evening.. Alice is cleaning up her van to move into it.
and Shadow is avoiding me. used to sit on the couch while I was on it.. now most of the time he is curled up in the corner. wonder he thinks if he is near me I will put drops in his eyes??? gets them twice a day if he is lucky... but he just doesn't like them wish someone else could be the bad guy

I went to the same suburban school district from Kindergarten thru 11th grade. My dad and I got into a huge fight so I moved in with my mom in North Minneapolis right after that. I went to an inner city high school for my senior year (that was an eye-opening experience!). I didn't fit in very well and the other kids let me know that, so I didn't make any friends there that year. I graduated from that school but have never attended their reunions. I have only gone to the reunions of the school I grew up with. No one there knows I didn't graduate there since they just assumed we didn't have the same classes that year, and several of kids I hung out with dropped out. Ironically, my daughter's biological dad went to the same high school in North Minneapolis and was in my graduating class, altho we never met then.

Still feeling crappy and have a dry cough now. Just got home from work. I need to eat something and get to bed. I have tomorrow off and have a few errands to run, including finally picking up the ferret food and supplies from the SD Humane Society.
